These compounds and a tautomer of the same has a strong luminescent intensity and is used for an EL material, the compound of zinc halogenide complex and zinc complex and a tautomer of the same has absorption at a wave length of 400 nm or less and is used for an ultraviolet absorption material, and further the quinoline compound and a tautomer has a strong luminescent intensity and is used for a fluorescent material. The zinc halogenide complex and zinc complex can be prepared by related preparation processes directly from a quinoline derivative and a phthalimide derivative, or by way of the quinoline compound which is obtained from these derivatives.

A visible light curable resin composition containing a photocurable resin, a photoreaction initiator and a photosensitizer having the formula (1). The composition has a very high sensitivity to a general-purpose visible light laser, so that a high-speed scanning exposure is possible by the laser, and an extremely fine high resolution can be obtained. In addition, the composition can be used for coating or printing under safelight irradiating conditions and under bright circumstantial conditions without any thickening of the composition, and hence the composition can exert excellent noticeable effects in points of safe operativity, operational efficiency and the stability of products. The present invention is concerned with a novel azo compound represented by formula (1), (2) or (3), a water-soluble dye comprising this azo compound, and a polarizing film containing this azo compound.
