The signal relay apparatus has a plurality of photoelectric converters which convert an optical signal input from an electronic equipment (A-C) into an electric signal and outputs the same to the photoelectric converter (-), and which converts an electric signal input from another photoelectric converter and outputs the same to the corresponding electronic equipment; a plurality of switch circuits (-) which are provided at input and output ends of the electric signal of the photoelectric converter (-) and which are opened and closed to bypass the electric signal; and a power source supply section (-) which supplies a power source to the electronic equipment connected to the photoelectric converter. In a first J/B () and a second J/B (), when any one of the electronic equipments connected to the photoelectric converters is not used, the electronic equipment (A-C) is bypassed by the switch circuit, and the power source supply section stops the supply of a power source to the electronic equipment (A-C).

There is provided a network control device including: network control unit for controlling a communication process in a first network system; a serial interface for controlling a serial communication process between the first network system and a second network system; and initializing unit for updating a communication program of the second network system, wherein the initializing unit has mode switching unit for switching changeable/unchangeable of the communication program of the second network system, and program download unit for transmitting the communication program to the second network system. According to this device, without using a device having a conventional gateway function and changing a conventional device at all, a new different network system is added to a conventional network system such as an in-vehicle network system, so that the network system can be extended.

Network control device enabling communication between first and second networks utilizing mode switching for downloading a communication program to the second network

A multiplex transmission apparatus is constructed with a plurality of nodes being connected to a multiplex transmission path. Each node has a multiplex transmission module for making multiplex communication with another node, a reception circuit connected to the multiplex transmission, and a micro-controller. The multiplex transmission apparatus has as its operation mode a multiplex communication mode in which each node performs its multiplex transmission and a sleep mode in which a multiplex transmission module is kept inoperative. When the reception circuit receives a seizing signal for changing over the operation mode from the sleep mode to the multiplex communication mode, from another node via the multiplex transmission path, a mode changing-over portion a micro-controller has changes over the operation mode from the sleep mode to the multiplex communication mode according to the seizing signal that has been received by the reception circuit, to thereby cause the multiplex transmission module to operate in the multiplex communication mode. A reception control portion in the micro-controller causes the reception circuit to makes its &ldquo;off&rdquo; operation immediately after transfer to the multiplex communication mode.

Operation mode changing-over method and multiplex transmission apparatus for realizing the same

A master node and slave nodes which are connected in a ring-like manner transmit commands in one direction, each of the nodes transmits a state monitoring command for monitoring the operational state of the network to its immediate upstream-side node, and the operational state of the network is monitored by a response from the immediate upstream-side node with respect to the state monitoring command. A traffic monitoring unit monitors the amount of traffic in the network and determines whether or not the amount of traffic is less than a predetermined value, and a start-command transmitting unit transmits a start command for instructing the start of transmission of the state monitoring command to each of the slave nodes if it is determined that the amount of traffic is less than the predetermined value.

Network monitoring system and method thereof

In each control node connected to an optical multiplex transmission path, a light receiving portion operates due to supply of a power source and receives an optical signal from another control node. A mode changing-over portion alternately changes over a multiplex communication mode and a sleep mode every prescribed period of time. A light receiving power source control portion and a first switch have alternately repeated therein a power source supply time length corresponding substantially to the multiplex communication mode during which a power source is supplied and a power source non-supply time length corresponding substantially to the sleep mode during which no power source is supplied, and thereby produces a power source supply pulse signal in which the duty ratio between the power source supply time length and the power source non-supply time length is preset and supplies this power source supply pulse signal to the light receiving portion. When the mode changing-over portion changes over the mode of the control node from the sleep mode to the multiplex communication mode and the light receiving portion has received the light signal, the mode changing-over portion causes the multiplex communication mode to be maintained during a time period in which the light signal is being received, and the light reception control portion causes the power source to continue to be supplied to the light receiving portion during a time period in which the light signal is being received.

Optical multiplex transmission apparatus and optical multiplex transmission method

In a normal operation mode, paths in a communication IC are controlled so that data received from a transmission line and addressed to this node is captured into a digital signal processor of the node and so that source data is sent from the node to the transmission line. In a test mode, the paths in the communication IC are controlled so that data received at a second input terminal of the communication IC is output from a first output terminal. In the test mode, comparison source data from a comparison source data unit is sent to the second input terminal via a first multiplexer. An error detection unit compares the comparison source data with output data, which is output from the first output terminal of the communication IC in response to the comparison source data, to detect errors in the communication IC.

A network abnormality recovery method and system capable of recovering the normal state of a network communication function as soon as possible even if the network communication function is impaired. When it is determined that a network communication function is impaired because a broken line occurs on a main data transmission line or an abnormal condition occurs in a communication IC, a CPU of a station unit transmits network maintaining information required for maintaining the network communication function to another CPU of a master station unit over a sub data transmission line provided separately from the main data transmission line, thereby recovering the normal state of the network communication function as soon as possible.

In the system, when it is determined that an abnormality occurs in a communication IC, a CPU performs switch control to switch a communication data route so as to bypass the communication IC and send communication data on a bypass from an optical receiver to an optical transmitter.

Multiple pieces of equipment installed in a vehicle are freely installed and removed to equipment connection slots. A bus line interconnects the multiple pieces of electrical equipment installed in the equipment connection slots. Multiple operating switches arranged in a single unit on an operating section are provided in correspondence to the multiple pieces of electrical equipment for producing control signals to control each of the multiple pieces of electrical equipment. When any one of the operating switches is manipulated, a head unit controls, via the bus line, the electrical equipment corresponding to the manipulated operating switch.
