To provide a power amplifier circuit which is capable of reducing a phase error of an output signal in a case where an amplitude of an input signal is relatively small, as well as a transmitter and a wireless communication device using the same. A constant envelope signal generation circuit () converts an input signal (Si) having envelope variation into a first constant envelope signal (Sd) and a second constant envelope signal (Sd) having the same amplitude and different phases, and outputs the signals. A first amplifier () amplifies the first constant envelope signal (Sd). A second amplifier () amplifies the second constant envelope signal (Sd). An output adder () outputs an amplified output signal having envelope variation based on the amplified signals output from the first amplifier () and the second amplifier (). An amplitude control circuit (reference potential control circuit ()) controls the amplitude of the first constant envelope signal (Sd) and the second constant envelope signal (Sd) based on the amplitude of the input signal (Si).

Power amplifying circuit, and transmitter and wireless communication device using the same

To provide a power amplifier circuit, which is capable of amplifying a signal having envelope variation with high power added efficiency, and exhibits low power consumption and high versatility, as well as to provide a transmitter and a wireless communication device using the power amplifier circuit, the power amplifier circuit includes: a constant envelope signal generation circuit () for converting an input signal (Si) having envelope variation into two constant envelope signals (SdSd); a first and a second amplifiers () for amplifying the two constant envelope signals to output two amplified signals (ShSh); and an output adder () for performing vector addition of the two amplified signals. Further, the power amplifier circuit includes: a power distributor () for generating two fundamental signals (SaSa) and a fundamental signal for conversion (Sb) from the input signal (Si); and a converted signal generation circuit () for generating two converted signals (ScSc) from the fundamental signal for conversion, and performs vector addition of the two fundamental signals and the two converted signals to output the two constant envelope signals (SdSd).

Impedances (Zg, Zh) seen from a common output point (P) of a plurality of first impedance circuits () toward respective input terminals () are set so that high frequency currents (Ig, Ih) are approximately zero. Disclosed is an addition circuit, wherein first through fourth multipliers (-) multiply first and second high-frequency input signals (Si, Si) and first and second reference signals (Ref, Ref) and output first through fourth direct current output signals (Sd-Sd), first and second adders () add in-phase signals of these to one another and output fifth and sixth direct current output signals (Sd, Sd), fifth and sixth multipliers () multiply these and the first and second reference signals (Ref, Ref) and output first and second high-frequency output signals (So, So), which are then combined, whereby a third high-frequency output signal (So), in which the first and second high-frequency input signals (Si, Si) have been vector added, is output from an output terminal (). The addition circuit can be used in a high-frequency region.

To provide a power amplification device that can amplify an input signal having an envelope variation with high power-added efficiency in a wide frequency range, and a transmission device and a communication device using the power amplification device. A first orthogonal signal (Sd) is generated by performing vector subtraction between first and second fundamental signals (Suand Su) having the same amplitude and a phase difference &#x3b4;&#x3b8; (0 degrees&#x3c;&#x3b4;&#x3b8;&#x3c;180 degrees) therebetween. First and second fundamental signals are generated based on an input signal (Sin). A second orthogonal signal (Sd) is generated by performing vector addition between the first and second fundamental signals (Suand Su). First and second constant envelope signals (Sand S) are generated by performing vector addition between the second fundamental signal (Su) and first and second constant envelope vector generation signals (e and &#x2212;e) obtained based on the first fundamental signal (Su). An output signal (Sout) obtained by amplifying the input signal (Sin) is output based on the first and second constant envelope signals (Sand S).

To provide a power amplification device having a function of preventing deviation of the amplitude and phase of an output signal having amplified envelope variation from a predetermined value, and a transmission device and a communication device both using the same. In a case where two constant envelope signals corresponding to an input signal are generated through analog signal processing, variation in detection sensitivities of amplitudes of those signals is suppressed. At least one of a mixer () for detecting an amplitude of a first intermediate signal Sand a mixer () for detecting an amplitude of a second intermediate signal Sdetects an amplitude of a given reference signal, and sampling hold circuits () hold a voltage related to those amplitudes. Then, detection sensitivities of the mixer () are corrected based on the held voltage.

A constant range polishing apparatus for polishing an end face of an optical fiber connector ferrule. The apparatus comprises a polishing plate adapted to be rotated about a polishing plate axis for polishing the end face of the connector ferrule. The polishing plate includes a disc-shaped substrate having a circular surface including an outer ring area, an inner ring area disposed radially inwardly with respect to the outer ring area, and an inner portion disposed radially inwardly with respect to the inner ring area. The polishing plate further includes a ring grinding wheel disposed on the outer ring area for forming an adhesive removing ring area; a first elastic film polisher disposed in a region defined by the inner ring area and at a distance from the surface of the substrate, the first elastic film polisher forming a rough polishing ring area; and a second elastic film polisher disposed in a region defined by the inner portion and at a distance from the surface of the substrate, the second elastic film polisher forming a final polishing ring area. The apparatus further includes: a chuck for holding the connector ferrule at a position opposite the polishing plate, the chuck being rotatable about an axis of the connector ferrule; a mounting substrate disposed for rotatably supporting the chuck; and a drive means for positioning the polishing plate and the mounting substrate relative to one another.

An optical fiber connector unit is composed of a ferrule including a first flange and a second flange formed to have a greater diameter than other portions, a stopring provided outside of the ferrule, having on its inner peripheral surface a first step and a second step, a coil spring having one end contacting with the first flange end face and the other end contacting with the first step end face, its tip exerting a spring force in an axial direction towards outside from the stopring; and a locating member provided between the stopring and the ferrule and having a first stopper contacting with the second step end face and a second stopper contacting with the second flange end face. The optical fiber connector using the unit can easily be assembled. The optical fiber connector, which does not require rotational positioning in assembly, has a flange-formed projection on the outer peripheral surface of the stopring, a plug frame having an opening engaging with the outer peripheral surface has a protrusion for engaging with the projection to prevent the stopring from passing to an opening end side, and having a relation of D.sub.2 &gt;-d.sub.1 &gt;D.sub. 1 where D.sub.1 being a diameter of a circle including the inner peripheral surface of the protrusion, D.sub.2 being a diameter of a circle including the inner peripheral surface other than the protrusion, and d.sub.1 being a diameter of a circle including a tip of the projection of the stopring.

Optical fiber connector unit and optical fiber connector

In an optical MDF (main distributing frame) for interconnecting external subscriber optical lines (122) with office optical lines (131) through jumpering operation, a matrix waveguide (128, 129, 130) having a plurality of crosspoints coupled with external lines and office lines is used. The matrix waveguide has a groove (235 in FIG. 4A) at each crosspoint so that said crosspoint is switched ON or OFF depending upon whether said groove is filled with matching oil or not, so that one of the external lines is connected to the selected office line. Said matching oil has the same refractive index as that of waveguides. Each crosspoint groove is coupled with a respective oil pool (236), which supplies matching oil which has essentially the same refractive index as that of a waveguide to said groove. Switching at a crosspoint is carried out in a manner that a light signal in a waveguide goes straight through the crosspoint when a groove is filled with matching oil, and the light signal changes its direction at the crosspoint through total internal reflection when the groove is empty. A jumpering operation to connect or disconnect a crosspoint is carried out by a robot (133), which fills or pulls out matching oil in the oil pool at the designated coordinates. Each external line is branched by using an optical directional coupler (237) for test purposes, and one of the branch lines subject to test is selected by using a similar 1.times.N type matrix waveguide. A servo system wherein an actuating signal obtained by the subtraction of a controlled variable delivered from a controlled system from a secondary command variable is applied to the controlled system, the actuating signal is added to the command to provide a secondary command variable, and the command is compared with the controlled variable in such a manner that when they are coincident with each other, the control is effected so as to change the secondary command variable to a predetermined value, thereby reducing both the transient error and the transient or settling time to a minimum and consequently decreasing the steady state error to a minimum.
