An ink set includes an ink composition and a treatment liquid composition. Each of the ink composition and the treatment liquid composition is used for printing by being applied onto a printing medium by an ink jet method. The ink composition is a water-based composition containing a coloring material and a surfactant. The treatment liquid composition is a water-based composition containing a flocculant and a surfactant. Any one of the ink composition and the treatment liquid composition contains a nitrogen-containing solvent. Each of the surfactant contained in the ink composition and the surfactant contained in the treatment liquid composition includes a silicone surfactant whose 0.1 mass % aqueous solution has a surface tension of 32 mN/m or less. Any one of the surfactant contained in the ink composition and the surfactant contained in the treatment liquid composition includes a silicone surfactant whose 0.1 mass % solution in a nitrogen-containing solvent has a surface tension of 32 mN/m or less.

Ink jet recording method and ink jet recording apparatus

A printing method for printing a printing medium includes a non-white ink application step of applying an aqueous non-white ink composition containing a non-white coloring material onto the printing medium, and a white ink application step of applying an aqueous white ink composition containing a white coloring material onto the non-white ink composition on the printing medium to form a superimposed region. The non-white ink composition and the white ink composition each have an organic solvent content limited to 15% or less relative to the total mass of the corresponding ink composition. The mass ratio of the white ink composition to the non-white ink composition in the superimposed region is 1.5 or more in a portion to which the non-white ink composition is applied in an amount largest in the superimposed region.

A recording method includes: ejecting colored ink compositions that include a light colored ink composition and a dark colored ink composition that belong to a same color system and have different color density from an ink jet head and causing the ink compositions to adhere to a recording medium; and causing a processing solution that contains a coagulant for coagulating constituents of the colored ink compositions to adhere to the recording medium, the causing of the ink compositions to adhere is performed by performing scanning, in which the colored ink compositions are ejected while a relative position of the ink jet head with respect to the recording medium is changed in a scanning direction, a plurality of times, and a width in the scanning direction of the recording medium is equal to or greater than 50 cm.

Recording method having colored ink compositions that belong to a same color system and have different color densities

An ink jet recording method includes an ink attachment step of discharging an aqueous white color ink containing a white color material from an ink jet head onto a recording medium having a white color recording surface with glossiness of 30 or less at an L* value of 75 or more, and attaching the aqueous white color ink onto the recording medium, and a drying step of drying the recording medium onto which the aqueous white color ink is attached, in which a ratio of glossiness of an attachment portion of the aqueous white color ink to the white color recording surface after the drying is two times or more.

A water-based inkjet ink composition comprising composite resin fine particles composed of a first resin and a second resin, and having an SP value of from 9.0 to 12.0 (cal/cm), wherein the SP value of the second resin is higher than the SP value of the first resin, and the first resin has a higher mass than the second resin.

A recording method includes heating a recording medium and attaching an ink composition including an organic solvent and water to the heated recording medium by performing a main scanning a plurality of times. In each main scanning the ink composition is ejected from a recording head while a position of the recording head relative to the recording medium in a main scanning direction is changed. In the ink composition, an absolute value of a difference between a surface tension of the ink composition and a surface tension of the ink composition when the ink composition is evaporated up to an evaporation amount of 0% to 40% by mass is 1 mN/m or less.
