A laminate sheet material punching method, in which a part of a cover sheet is punched from a laminate sheet material including the cover sheet which has an adhesive film formed at one surface thereof and is adhered to a recording side of a disk substrate of an optical disk via the adhesive film, a strip-off sheet adhered to a surface of the adhesive film on the cover sheet and a protective sheet adhered to the opposite surface of the cover sheet, in a shape corresponding to a shape of the recording side of the disk substrate, the laminate sheet material punching method includes the steps of: pressing a punching blade whose blade tip extends along a path corresponding to the peripheral edge of the recording side of the disk substrate, against the surface of the strip-off sheet; cutting the strip-off sheet and the cover sheet with the punching blade.

In an optical disc fabricating apparatus, when the disc substrate is lowered from the tip of a disc inserting portion at a center pin down to a disc supporting portion, a disc urging portion of an alignment lever is pressed by a disc substrate, to be thus pushed in toward an inner periphery and a sheet urging portion is pushed out toward an outer periphery, so as to press the inner peripheral surface of a cover sheet so that both of the cover sheet and the disc substrate are urged in an alignment direction. Thus, it is possible to eliminate play generated between the inner peripheral surface of the cover sheet and the outer peripheral surface of a sheet inserting portion and play generated between the inner peripheral surface of the disc substrate and the outer peripheral surface of the disc inserting portion.

A liquid-form adhesive, which is a raw material of the cover layer, is supplied to a plate surface of the disc substrate, which has been set on a turntable, after which a dummy substrate is set on the disc substrate. The dummy substrate is positioned to be concentric with the disc substrate. A setting surface of the dummy substrate is disposed to face the plate surface. In this state, the disc substrate is rotated together with the dummy substrate by rotation of the turntable, and the adhesive is spread to an outer peripheral side of the disc substrate by centrifugal force. Thus, the adhesive fills a space between the plate surface and the setting surface, and is spin-coated on the plate surface. Irregularities in thickness of the applied adhesive are suppressed by the setting surface of the dummy substrate.

A magnetic disc cartridge includes a casing formed of upper and lower shell halves mated together, a disc-like recording medium supported for rotation in the casing and a liner fixed to each of the inner surfaces of the upper and lower shell halves by ultrasonic welding by use of an ultrasonic welding horn. The liner has an outer contour defined by an outer peripheral edge, a central opening defined by an inner peripheral edge, and a slit-like cutaway portion defined by a pair of linear edges extending between the outer peripheral edge and the inner peripheral edge. The ultrasonic welding horn is provided with a welding pattern in the form of a protrusion pattern formed on a welding face thereof over the entire welding area in which the ultrasonic welding horn is brought into contact with the liner, and the liner is welded to the inner surface of the shell half over the entire area of the liner along the welding pattern.

In a process for producing a magnetic disk cartridge by welding two cassette shell halves for constituting a cassette shell of a magnetic disk cartridge to each other, a first fitting part is formed on an inner side of one of the two cassette shell halves. The first fitting part serves to adjust the position of the one cassette shell half with respect to the position of the other cassette shell half. A second fitting part is formed on an inner side of the other cassette shell half, which second fitting part is to be fitted to the first fitting part in order to adjust the position of the other cassette shell half with respect to the position of the one cassette shell half. Projections for ultrasonic welding are formed on a fitting surface of at least either one of the first and fitting parts. While the first and second fitting parts are being fitted to each other, energy of ultrasonic welding is concentrated upon the projections for ultrasonic welding, and the two cassette shell halves are thereby welded to each other.

A torsion spring having a central coiled portion and a pair of resilient arms projecting from the coiled portion in different directions is incorporated in a workpiece so that the coiled portion is fitted on a support pin on the workpiece and the arms are engaged with first and second engagement portions on the workpiece. A center pin is inserted into the coiled portion of the torsion spring, and the coiled portion is held by attraction of an attracting portion provided around the center pin. A pair of forming pins are moved relative to the center pin in directions perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the center pin to abut against the respective arms of the torsion spring and deflect them. Then, the torsion spring held by the attracting portion is moved to bring the end of the center pin into abutment against the top end of the support pin, and the attracting portion is moved toward the support pin so that the center pin is pushed away from the coiled portion and the support pin is inserted into the coiled portion, and the arms of the torsion spring are released from the forming pins and brought into engagement with the first and second engagement portions on the workpiece.

A magnetic disc cartridge includes a casing formed by upper and lower shells bonded together. A magnetic disc is supported for rotation in the casing and includes a recording area and a non-recording area around the recording area. A pair of liners are fixed respectively to the inner surfaces of the upper and lower shells to be opposed to the upper and lower surfaces of the disc. Each of the upper and lower shells is provided with at least one protrusion projecting toward the disk from a portion of the inner surface which is outside the portion of the shell opposed to the recording area of the magnetic disc and is opposed to at least a part of the non-recording area of the magnetic disc, whereby the liners on the respective shells are shifted toward the disk from the inner surfaces of the shells by the protrusions.

A method and apparatus for transferring a workpiece quickly and which can handle a variety of workpieces even of different outside sizes, and can accurately position workpieces. Workpieces on a transfer surface are adjusted in position to maintain an interval between the workpieces at a certain value. Along the transfer surface are disposed two belts on which are provided first and second holders raised above the transfer surface and which contact the workpiece at its front and rear edges. The holders, which are separately formed on the belt, cooperate with each other to hold the workpieces. The apparatus is also provided with a driving force which is able to change the rotational phase between the two belts. By changing the phase between the belts, the interval between the holders in the transfer direction can be varied in accordance with the size of the workpiece to be transferred.

A magnetic disk cartridge comprising a disk shell, formed by a pair of shell halves each defining an inner surface in which a magnetic disk is incorporated such that the magnetic disk can rotate, and a liner applied to the inner surface of at least one of the shell halves of the disk shell, which inner surface is disposed facing the magnetic disk. A plurality of recesses and protruding portions are formed in a liner applying region of the inner surface of the disk shell, and the liner is applied to the inner surface of the disk shell such that the liner may be adhered at least to positions in the recesses and pulled by the protruding portions. The magnetic disk cartridge has no risk that the liner becomes slackened even when ambient conditions change, and the weight of the disk shell is kept light.

A magnetic disk cartridge has a cassette shell made of first and second cassette shell halves formed with pairs of holes for insertion of rivets. The rivets include a flange, elastically deformable bulged portions having tapered surfaces at their distal ends and sloped provisional retaining surfaces at their proximal ends. The cassette shell halves are provisionally assembled by inserting the rivets into the insertion holes from the side of the first cassette shell half to bring the sloped provisional retaining surfaces into engagement with sloped engagement surfaces in the rivet insertion holes of the second cassette shell half. The provisionally assembled cassette shell halves can be easily disassembled if necessary.

One of cassette shell halves has a cylindrical body protruding toward the other cassette shell half. The cylindrical body has a rivet press-fit hole and is constituted of elastic engagement pieces. The other cassette shell half has an opening for rivet insertion formed in an outer surface, and an engagement piece receiving hole, which communicates from the opening for rivet insertion to the inner surface of the other cassette shell half and has a tapered inner wall surface having the diameter increasing from an end, that stands facing the one cassette shell half, toward the opening for rivet insertion. When the elastic engagement pieces have been inserted into the engagement piece receiving hole, the elastic engagement pieces are brought into pressure contact with the tapered surface of the engagement piece receiving hole by a rivet, which is press-fitted through the opening for rivet insertion and into the rivet press-fit hole, and the cassette shell halves are thus temporarily assembled to each other.

After the metal thin plate is bent along the punch, the angle of the edge portions is formed by pressing the metal thin plate toward the punch, and the workpiece 60 is unloaded in the direction along which the dimensions of the unload channels 1b and 1c formed on the punch 1 can be shortened.
