A liquid crystal display device used in a projector for projecting an image on a liquid crystal display panel onto a screen, the display device including a housing having a panel housing portion and a control circuit housing portion, the liquid crystal display panel being housed in the panel housing portion, and a control circuit housed in the control circuit housing portion, circuit chips mounted on glasses of the liquid crystal display panel for driving electrodes of the panel, the panel housing portion having a pair of attached portions formed on opposite longitudinal sides thereof, which are attached to the projector, a thickness of each side of the attached portions being less than 6 mm, and a width of the panel housing portion being about 50 mm.

Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device is used in a projector for projecting an image on a liquid crystal display panel onto a screen. The display device has a housing having a panel housing portion and a control circuit housing portion. The liquid crystal display panel is housed in the panel housing portion, and a control circuit is housed in the control circuit housing portion. A pair of transparent shielding plates are provided on the front and rear covers for protecting the liquid crystal display panel. A part of the front and rear covers adjacent the shielding plates are made of metal for radiating heat of the liquid crystal display panel.

A color liquid crystal display apparatus includes a receiver, a color separation circuit, A/D converters, a liquid crystal panel, and an adjusting section. The receiver receives an external radio wave and outputs a video signal. The color separation circuit color-separates the video signal and outputs red, green, and blue video output signals. The A/D converters A/D-convert the red, green, and blue video output signals. The liquid crystal panel having a plurality of pixels formed therein displays an image on the basis of outputs from the A/D converters. The adjusting section can independently adjust at least one of low and high reference potentials used as references for A/D conversion by the A/D converters.

A liquid crystal display device in which each of the scanning electrodes has a center portion, an upper projection extending upwards from the center portion and a lower projection extending downwards from the center portion, and two picture elements are formed vertically each in an area comprising the upper projection and the center portion and an area comprising the lower projection and the center portion, and the phases in which the data to be given to the signal electrodes are sampled from even scanning picture signals are made different from the phases in which the data to be given to the signal electrodes are sampled from odd scanning picture signals, so that when the scanning electrodes are selected, the data for four scans of picture signals are given to the signal electrodes.

A television receiver employs a liquid crystal display panel mounted in a unit which can be set into either a closed position in which the display panel is disposed within a recessed portion of the case of the television set, and an opened position in which ambient light passes through the display panel to be reflected from a mirror towards the viewer. In conjunction with this arrangement, operating control members are positioned to facilitate one-hand operation of the receiver, and the largest circuit components and batteries are positioned with respect to the display panel and control members such as to minimize the overall size of the receiver.
