A system for measuring a foreign material in a liquid, includes a sampling section, vacuum deaerators, foreign material measuring sensors. The sampling section prepares a sample liquid containing various foreign materials having particles of different sizes and numbers and a calibration standard liquid containing particles of known sizes and numbers. The vacuum deaerators deaerate gases mixed in the sample and calibration standard liquids. The sensors detect the foreign materials in the deaerated liquids. These sensors are arranged in front of the deaerators, respectively.

A method of producing a shadow mask for use in a color cathode ray tube, has the following steps which are conducted in sequence: preparing an alloy sheet having a composition consisting of 30 to 50 wt % of Ni, 1 to 5 wt % of Ti and the balance substantially Fe and incidental impurities; perforating the alloy sheet by etching; subjecting the etched alloy sheet to a solution heat treatment; forming the alloy sheet after the solution heat treatment into a predetermined form; subjecting the formed alloy sheet to an age-hardening treatment by holding the alloy sheet within a non-oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature ranging between 650.degree. and 750.degree. C.; and subjecting the alloy sheet after the solution heat treatment to a surface blackening treatment thereby forming a black film on the surface of the alloy sheet.

Method of producing shadow mask of color cathode ray tube

A color picture tube shadow mask material is made of an alloy consisting of 30 to 45 wt. % of Ni, 0.1 to 5.0 wt. % of V, and the balance essentially Fe. A color picture tube having a shadow mask consisting of this material is also prepared. The alloy has an average thermal expansion coefficient of 6.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree.C. or less in a temperature range of 20 to 100.degree. C., and an elasticity coefficient of 15,000 kgf/mm.sup.2 or more.

The panel face plate of a cathode ray tube is provided with an irregular film which is formed by spraying a mixed solution of silicon hydroxide, alcohol and alkyl acetate onto the panel face plate.

Technique for preventing reflections in a cathode ray tube

Disclosed is a projection tube containing a coolant comprising a liquid mixture of ethylene glycol and water filled in the space between a phosphor screen panel and a transparent face panel which is set up at a certain distance in front thereof, wherein the coolant is incorporated with 10 ppm to 20 wt. % of an ethylene oligomer. The present projection tube is an excellent product free from a decrease in transmittance due to the coloring of the coolant in operation at a high temperature.

A color picture tube includes a shadow mask of a precipitation strengthening Fe-Ni alloy. The alloy contains Fe-Ni as a major constituent and has at least one additive element. The alloy has a precipitation strengthening phase of Ni.sub.x X.sub.y (wherein X is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Ti, Nb, Ta and Zr; x is 2 to 4; and y is 0.05 to 1.5) and an average thermal expansion coefficient of not more than 6.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree. C. in a temperature range of 20.degree. C. to 100.degree. C.

In a directly heated cathode including a base formed of an alloy containing nickel as its principal component and coated with an oxide of an alkaline earth metal which emits electrons, a layer of a metal selected from the group consisting of nickel, cobalt, platinum and rhodium or of an alloy containing one of these metals as its principal component is formed on both surfaces of the base to one of which surfaces the coating of the oxide is applied, so as to thereby prevent the peeling-off of the coating of the oxide from the base. In order to avoid deformation of the base, a powder alloy containing tungsten and nickel as its principal components, a powder alloy containing molybdenum and nickel as its principal components or one of these powder alloys which is coated with nickel, cobalt or a cobalt-nickel alloy is deposited on the surface of the base to which the coating of the oxide is applied.

A solar battery has a pair of opposed light incident transparent electroconductive and back electrodes sandwiching amorphous silicon layers formed on a substrate with at least a major surface of the back electrode surface being in contact with an organic resin layer and being made of a compound of a transition metal and silicon, a compound of a transition metal and nitrogen, or a compound of a transition metal and carbon. Excellent corrosion resistance of the back electrode is obtained and the battery has high performance and high reliability.

A photovoltaic-storage battery device is disclosed, which comprises a substrate having a pair of major surfaces, a photovoltaic element formed on one major surface of the substrate and including a pair of opposing electrodes and a photoelectric film intervening between the pair of opposing electrodes and a storage battery element formed on the other major surface of the substrate and including a second pair of opposing electrodes which are connectable to the first-mentioned pair of opposing electrodes, respectively, and an electrolyte intervening between the second-mentioned pair of opposing electrodes.

A directly heated type oxide cathode comprising a base made of an alloy containing Ni as a major component and Zr as a reducing agent, a coating of Co powders or a mixture of Ni powders and Co powders wherein the average particle size of the Co powders is smaller than that of Ni powders formed on the base, and an electron emissive alkaline earth oxide layer formed on the coating of Co powders or the mixture of Ni powders and Co powders does not show deformation of the base or peeling of the oxide layer during the production procedure or operation of electron tubes and the like.

A directly heated type oxide cathode comprising a base made of an alloy containing Ni as a major component and Zr as a reducing agent, a diffusion prevention layer made of Co formed on the base, a coating of Ni powders formed on the diffusion prevention layer, and an electron emissive alkaline earth oxide layer formed on the coating of Ni powders, does not show deformation of Ni powders or peeling of the oxide layer during the production procedures or operation of the cathode.

Directly heated type oxide cathode

A directly heated cathode for electron tube having a stable electron emission characteristic is provided. The cathode comprises a base metal of Ni-W alloy consisting essentially of 20-30% by weight of tungsten, the balance being nickel and incidental impurities, said alloy being free from a reducing agent, and a layer of thermoelectron emission oxides laid directly and baked onto the flat part at the front side of the base metal. The layer of thermoelectron emission oxides is in direct contact with the flat part of the base metal.

Directly heated cathode for electron tube

An oxide-coated cathode for electron tubes comprising a base metal plate made of an alloy containing nickel as a major component and at least one high-melting point metal in an amount of 2% by weight or more, and if required, a small amount of one or more reducing elements, and an electron emissive alkaline earth metal oxide layer adhered to the base metal plate, characterized by having a carbide layer made of at least one carbide of Si, B, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Mo or W between the base metal plate and the electron emissive alkaline earth metal oxide layer can maintain electron emitting life for a long period of time due to the prevention of interfacial reaction between the base metal layer and the alkaline earth metal oxide layer.

Oxide-coated cathode for electron tube

An electron tube cathode has a composite suppression layer structure interposed between the base metal and the electron-emitting material to suppress an interface layer formed through the reaction of the base metal with the electron emissive material. The composite layer structure includes a thin layer of Pt or Re and a layer of oxide of Zr and/or Hf. As a result, the formation of the interface layer is prevented so that the useful life of the electron tube cathode is prolonged.
