An electronic control unit includes an input interface having multiplexer circuits, each of which circuits is supplied with input signals supplied from an outside of the electronic control unit, and a failsafe processing part that determines whether an abnormality occurs in the input interface by referring to a state of a specific multiplexer circuit that is at least one of the multiple multiplexer circuits when determining that an output signal of the input interface has an abnormal state and executes a failsafe process based on results of determination as to whether an abnormality occurs in the specific multiplexer circuit.

Electronic control unit

To simplify a constitution of an engine control device operated using another fuel different from a predetermined fuel. The engine control device includes: a main computer to output a signal on the supposition that the predetermined fuel is used; and a sub computer to calculate and output only an injection signal on the supposition that another fuel is used. The sub computer conducts injection control on another fuel according to the injection signal or ignition signal outputted from the main computer and further according to the output of a sensor. Control, except for injection control, is conducted according to a signal outputted from the main computer.

Engine control device

As a vehicle runs, current load q(t) is calculated every given time. The current load q(t) can be calculated by multiplying the amount of air taken into an engine of the vehicle by the engine speed. Added-up load Q(t) can be found by adding up the current load q(t) according to expression of Q(t)&equals;Q(t&minus;1)&plus;((q(t)&minus;Q(t&minus;1))/a). If the added-up load Q(t) exceeds an inhibition determination value Z, idling stop is inhibited, so that overheating of the engine can be prevented appropriately.
