A recording apparatus includes a conveyance unit, a conveyance path, a double-sided conveyance path, and first and second charge eliminators. The conveyance unit conveys a recording medium having first and second surfaces in a first direction through the conveyance path to a recording area where recording is performed by a recording unit on the first surface. The recording medium then passes through the double-sided conveyance path before recording is performed on the second surface. The first charge eliminator eliminates charges from the first surface and is disposed at a position downstream of a junction between the conveyance path and the double-sided conveyance path in the first direction and upstream of the recording area in the first direction. The second charge eliminator eliminate charges from the second surface and is disposed downstream of the junction in the first direction and upstream of the recording area in the first direction.

The type obtaining unit obtains a type of the recording medium on which the image is to be recorded. The threshold obtaining unit obtains a threshold for performing the recovery operation corresponding to the obtained type of the recording medium. The calculation unit calculates a count-up value by adding, in response to recording on the recording medium, an addition value set for each of types of recording media. The recovery operation is performed in a case where the count-up value calculated by the calculation unit exceeds the threshold obtained by the threshold obtaining unit.

An inkjet printing apparatus includes a print head configured to perform print operation, the print head having an ejection opening surface on which a plurality of ejection openings for ejecting ink are arrayed along an array direction, and a moving unit configured to move the print head between a printing position, at which the print operation is performed, and a standby position, at which the print operation is not performed. The moving unit moves the print head between the printing position and the standby position by performing rotational movement, in which the print head is rotated around a rotation axis that is parallel to the array direction, and linear movement, in which the print head is moved linearly.

The printing apparatus of the present invention includes: an openable cover that covers a head holder that mounts a print head detachably and an ink tank, detachable from the apparatus, configured to store ink to be supplied to the print head; a lock unit capable of switching between a lock state where the cover is fixed to a closed position and an unlocked state where the cover is not fixed to the closed position; and a control unit configured to control, in a case of receiving instructions to detach the ink tank, the lock unit to switch to the unlocked state after controlling a holder moving unit to move the head holder to a position at which the print head is undetachable, as well as controlling a pressurizing supply unit to stop pressurization and supply ink from the ink tank to the print head.
