The present invention provides a flame-retardant resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a bromine-containing copolymer composition containing 1 to 40% by weight of bromine, and comprising 0 to 30 parts by weight of a flame-retarding adjuvant and 0.5 to 30 parts by weight of a polyorganosiloxane-reinforced resin component obtained by polymerizing a vinyl monomer (d) in the presence of a polyorganosiloxane polymer. The flame-retardant resin composition of the present invention has attained a remarkably higher flame retardancy by the inclusion of a polyorganosiloxane-reinforced resin. A significant improvement in the dripping phenomenon has also been achieved. Further, this composition exhibits superior impact resistance and moldability, and a superior outer appearance in the formed products.

A thermoplastic resin composition consisting essentially of (A) 10-90% by weight of a graft copolymer (A) obtained by polymerizing a mixture of an alkenyl cyanide compound and an aromatic alkenyl compound in the presence of a butadiene rubber latex in which 40-100% by weight of butadiene rubber particles (A-1) having an average particle diameter of at least 1,300 .ANG. but less than 2,100 .ANG., 0-60% by weight of butadiene rubber particles (A-2) having an average particle diameter of 2,100 .ANG. or more and 0-20% by weight of butadiene rubber particles (A-3) having an average particle diameter other than the average particle diameters of the particles (A-1) and (A-2) are dispersed, provided that the alkenyl cyanide compound content in the resin component of the graft copolymer (A) is at least 10% by weight but less than 30% by weight, and (B) 90-10% by weight of a copolymer of an alkenyl cyanide compound with an aromatic alkenyl compound having an alkenyl cyanide compound content of 30-40% by weight, the proportion of the butadiene rubber component in the composition being 5-30% by weight. Said thermoplastic resin composition is excellent in surface appearance of molded article, shows an improved ejection whiteining during molding, and a high gloss of molded article.

A flame-retardant rubber-modified styrene resin composition comprising, as essential components, (A) a rubber-modified styrene resin, (B) a halogenated bisphenol type polycarbonate oligomer, (C) a halogenated bisphenol type compound, and (D) a halogenated polyolefin compound. The resin composition contains these components (A), (B), (C), and (D) at specific proportions, and its contents of the components (B) and (C) must be at a specified ratio. The resin composition is not only flame-retardant but also possesses such excellent characteristics as a high degree of light resistance, heat resistance, impact resistance and fluidity when it is molded. It can be molded into articles of various shapes and has a wide variety of applications in business machines, electric appliances, and automobile parts.

Flame-retardant rubber-modified styrene resin composition

A process for producing a rubber-modified thermoplastic resin by graft-copolymerizing a monomeric component composed of an aromatic alkenyl compound, an alkenyl cyanide compound and a methacrylic acid ester compound on an ethylene-propylene rubber, characterized in that the first reaction step, a monomer mixture composed of an aromatic alkenyl compound and an alkenyl cyanide compound or a mixture composed of these two compounds and 20% by weight or less of a methacrylic acid ester is graft-copolymerized on an ethylene-propylene rubber until the polymerization conversion reaches 30 to 70% by weight, and in the second reaction step, a methacrylic acid ester compound or a mixture of a methacrylic acid ester compound and 20% by weight or less of at least one other copolymerizable monomer is polymerized in the presence of the reaction mixture obtained in the first reaction step until the polymerization reaction is substantially completed. The rubber-modified thermoplastic resin obtained by this process is excellent in impact resistance, appearance of molded article and colorability.

Process for producing rubber modified thermoplastic resin

A molding resin composition comprising [A] 100 parts by weight of a vinyl chloride resin, [B] 30-110 parts by weight of a graft copolymer wherein 90-50 parts by weight of a monomer mixture consisting of 10-40% by weight of an alkenyl aromatic compound, 20-50% by weight of an alkenyl cyanide compound and 20-50% by weight of a methacrylate is graft-copolymerized on 10-50 parts by weight of polybutadiene or a rubbery copolymer of 60% by weight or more of butadiene and a vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith (the amount of toluene-insoluble fraction is preferably 50% by weight or less), the degree of grafting being 30-110% and the acetone-soluble fraction of the graft copolymer having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.4-1.5 dl/g as measured in methyl ethyl ketone at 30.degree. C., [C] 3-50 parts by weight of a rubbery acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer and [D] 15-100 parts by weight of a plasticizer for vinyl chloride resins. Said composition is suitable for producing soft or semi-rigid leather-like sheets by vacuum forming. Said sheets are excellent in heat-resistance, light-resistance and cold-resistance.
