A winding-type battery includes a battery case, a power generating element, a cap for blocking an opening of the battery case, and a gasket for insulating the battery case from the cap. The power generating element includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a separator interposed between them, and an electrolyte. The first electrode and the second electrode are wound via the separator to form an electrode group, and the first electrode is connected to the cap via a first current collecting lead, and the second electrode is connected to the battery case via a second current collecting lead. A groove is formed near the opening end of the battery case. The gasket includes: an annular seal portion interposed between a rim of the cap and the region from the groove to the end; and a tubular portion that is integrated with the seal portion, and is disposed closer to the electrode group than the seal portion is. The first current collecting lead is connected to the cap through a hollow in the tubular portion.

Wound battery

A wound battery includes an electrode assembly in which a first electrode and a second electrode are wound together via a separator, the electrode assembly being accommodated in a battery case including a bottomed tube-shaped metallic can. The first electrode has a first uncoated region defined by an exposed portion of a first current collector sheet at an end of the first current collector sheet in the axial direction of winding. The first electrode includes a first current collector lead connected to the first uncoated region. The first uncoated region is disposed on the same side as the open end of the metallic can. The second electrode includes a second current collector lead connected thereto. The first and the second current collector leads extend toward the open end of the metallic can. At least a portion of the first uncoated region is covered with an insulating layer, and the insulating layer extends beyond an end face of the first uncoated region.

Rolled-type battery

A battery includes a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, a separator interposed between the first and second electrode plates, a closed-end cylindrical metal case accommodating these three elements, and a sealing member sealing an opening of the metal case with an insulating member interposed therebetween. The first and second electrode plates are wound with the separator interposed therebetween to form a wound electrode group. A center axis portion of the wound electrode group is substantially the same as a center axis of a cylinder of the metal case, and contains no power-generating element. A first current collector lead coupled to the first electrode plate extends toward the opening of the metal case, and joined to an inner sidewall surface of the metal case. A second current collector lead coupled to the second electrode plate extends toward the opening of the metal case, and joined to the sealing member.

Battery and manufacturing method of the battery

A winding-type battery includes a battery case, a power generating element, a cap for blocking an opening of the battery case, and a gasket for insulating the battery case from the cap. The first electrode is connected to the cap via a first current collecting lead, and the second electrode is connected to the battery case via a second current collecting lead. A groove is formed near the opening end of the battery case. The gasket includes: an annular seal portion interposed between a rim of the cap and the region from the groove to the end; and a tubular portion that is integrated with the seal portion, and is disposed closer to the electrode group than the seal portion is. The first current collecting lead is connected to the cap through a hollow in the tubular portion.

In a cylindrical battery, a bottomed cylindrical battery case includes an opening end bent or curved toward a center axis of the battery case, and a constriction annularly formed around the center axis. A gasket is compressed by the opening end and the constriction, and a rim portion of the sealing member is grasped by the compressed gasket. The outer diameter of the battery case is 10 mm or less. A first corresponding line corresponds to the rim of the sealing member in a projected image of the sealing member on the virtual plane perpendicular to the center axis of the battery case, and a second corresponding line corresponds to a tip edge of the opening end in a projected image. In this case, deviation d of the second corresponding line from the first corresponding line toward the center axis satisfies &#x2212;0.1 mm&#x2264;d&#x2264;+0.5 mm.

Cylindrical battery

Disclosed is an optical device which includes: optical components configured to be electrically actuated such that light transmission states are variable; a driver circuit for the optical components; a power source unit for driving the optical components; rims for supporting the optical components; temples having front and rear ends and connected at the front ends to the rims; and earpieces formed at the rear ends of the temples. The power source unit includes a secondary battery, and a charge/discharge circuit for controlling charge and discharge of the secondary battery. The secondary battery is provided near the rear end of the temple or in the earpiece.

Optical device

Provided is a small-sized cylindrical battery in which improvement in battery characteristics and improvement in long-term reliability and safety are both realized. The cylindrical battery includes: a bottomed cylindrical battery case, an electrode grouphoused together with an electrolyte in the battery case, a sealing memberfitted into an opening of the battery case, and a gasketinterposed between the sealing memberand the battery case. The opening of the battery caseis sealed by applying a drawing process to an opening end portion of the battery case. The battery caseis constituted of stainless steel. The battery casehas an outer diameter of 10 mm or less and a thickness of 0.05 mm or more and 0.2 mm or less.

Disclosed is an optical device which includes: an optical component configured to be electrically actuated such that a light transmission state is variable; a driver circuit for the optical component; a power source unit for driving the optical component; a rim for supporting the optical component; a temple having front and rear ends and connected at the front end to the rim; and an earpiece formed at the rear end of the temple. The power source unit includes a secondary battery, a power switch, a power switch control portion, and a use-status sensing portion for sensing the status of use by a user of the optical device. The power switch control portion performs control to turn off the power switch when the use-status sensing portion does not sense any use by the user of the optical device.

A stereoscopic image viewing device to be attached for stereoscopic image viewing to eyeglasses; which includes: a pair of light shutters for right and left eyes; a driver circuit for the light shutters; a power source unit for driving the light shutters; a bridge for supporting the light shutters at their inside edges; a binding portion for removably binding the stereoscopic image viewing device to the eyeglasses; and a support for supporting the driver circuit and the power source unit. The power source unit includes a secondary battery. The binding portion and the support are integrally formed with the bridge. The stereoscopic image viewing device has a center of gravity positioned in the bridge.

Stereoscopic image viewing device

A stereoscopic image viewing device to be attached for stereoscopic image viewing to eyeglasses, which includes: a pair of light shutters for right and left eyes; a driver circuit for the light shutters; a power source unit for driving the light shutters; a support for supporting the light shutters; and a first binding portion for removably binding the stereoscopic image viewing device to the eyeglasses, the first binding portion being integrally formed with the support. The power source unit and the driver circuit are connected to the support by a flexible connecting member without being fixed to the light shutters.

The invention provides a lithium secondary battery with improved withstanding overcharge and overdischarge characteristics which employs a cathode active material of lithium-containing manganese dioxide having a crystal structure of the Ramsdellite-type. An electrolyte combined with the cathode includes LiN(CF.sub.3 SO.sub.2).sub.2 as a solute. The solute is preferably dissolved in ethylene carbonate. A graphite or LiAl alloy is applied for an anode. LiAl alloy is corrosion-resistant, thereby improving high temperature as well as charge-discharge cycle life characteristics.
