An image distortion correcting device with reduced cost and reduced consumption power is provided. Horizontal correction coils (L ) and (L ) are wound around partial cores ( ) and ( ). The two horizontal correction coils (L ) and (L ) are wound in such winding directions that they produce magnetic fields in opposite directions. A bobbin ( ) having an insulating property covers the partial cores ( ) and ( ) and magnets ( ) and ( ) in the winding direction of the horizontal correction coils (L ) and (L ), and a vertical correction coil (L ) is wound on the bobbin ( ) around the partial cores ( ) and ( ) along the windings of the horizontal correction coils (L ) and (L ). That is to say, the vertical correction coil (L ) is wound over the horizontal correction coils (L ) and (L ) along the periphery of their windings with the bobbin ( ) interposed therebetween. This vertical correction coil (L ) is wound in such a direction that it produces a magnetic field directed to cancel the bias magnetic field produced by the magnets ( ) and ( ).

Image distortion correcting device

An image distortion correction circuit is provided in which a horizontal deflection current (IH) flows through horizontal correction coils (L,, L,) and a vertical deflection current (IV) flows through either of vertical correction coils (L,, L,). The vertical correction coils (L,, L,) and the horizontal correction coils (L,, L,) are wound on the same core (,). A pair of magnets (,) on opposite ends of the core (,) apply a biased magnetic field from the north pole toward the south pole. The anode of a diode (D,), the cathode of a diode (D,) and a first end of a resistor (R,) are connected to an intermediate terminal (P,) through which the vertical deflection current (IV) flows. A first end of the vertical correction coil (L,) is connected to the cathode of the diode (D,). A second end of the resistor (R,) and a terminal (P,) are connected to a second end of the vertical correction coil (L,). A first end of the vertical correction coil (L,) is connected to the terminal (P,), and a second end of the vertical correction coil (L,) is connected to the anode of the diode (D,). The image distortion correction circuit minimizes the degradation of vertical deflection sensitivity to perform an intermediate pin distortion correction.

A solid state laser device has an graded index optical fiber in which the diameter .phi..sub.in of the laser beam at the optical fiber side having the following relationship: 0.5.phi..sub.s .ltoreq..phi..sub.in .ltoreq.2.phi..sub.s, and .phi..sub.s =(.phi..sub.c .phi..sub.0 .theta.(2n.sub.0 .DELTA.n).sup.-1/2).sup.1/2, where a diameter of the laser beam waist at an output level is .phi..sub.0, and an opening angle is 2.theta. (total angle). and a laser processing device incorporating these optical transmission device and the solid state laser device.

Optical transmission device, solid state laser device, and laser beam

A laser beam machine comprises an optical fiber cable for transmitting laser light, a beam output optical assembly for converging and emitting a laser beam and flexible protective conduits arranged along the X- and Y-axes accommodating the optical fiber cable as well as power and control cables for X-and Z-axis drive motors and an assist gas tube. While the beam output optical assembly can be moved along the X-, Y- and Z-axes, the flexible protective conduits do not bend in excess of the permissible bending radius of the optical fiber cable. The laser beam machine thus constructed provides improved reliability, safety and maintainability of the optical fiber cable as well as high laser beam converging performance and an enlarged machining area. In another embodiment a nozzle centering device is provided between an optical fiber cable and a nozzle housing holding a collimator lens and a condensor lens to align the optical axis of the optical fiber cable with the nozzle housing.

A solid state laser apparatus and a laser machining apparatus are provided to provide high power laser beam having an excellent condensing performance at high efficiency and with high reliability. In the solid state laser apparatus, a recess is provided in a supporter disposed on a slab side surface at an excitation area corresponding portion. A high reflectance body having a cooling water filtrating groove is disposed in the recess to contact with a slab facing surface with pressure. The supporter contacts slab longitudinal both ends with pressure through a silicon rubber plate which is transparent to excitation light. A transparent silicon rubber O-ring is disposed to extend over an entire peripheral portion of a plane formed by a slab surface including the supporter pressure contacting porting and the supporter so as to seal cooling water and elastically support the slab.

Solid state laser apparatus and laser machining apparatus

The second harmonic wave of a solid laser light which is emitted from a second harmonic wave light source is divided into a plurality of laser beams by a diffraction grating. The divided laser beams are converged on a record carrier into a plurality of light spots by an optical head. Magnetic field generating coils for applying magnetic fields to the respective light spots in accordance with the recording signals from a signal line are disposed under the record carrier. Part of the solid laser light is reflected and input to a beam splitter. Since part of the light input to the beam splitter is taken out, a stabilizer controls the output of the solid laser light from the second harmonic wave light source, parallel recording/reproduction using the plurality of light spots which are arranged on the record carrier is enabled and the formation of the plurality of light spots is effectively controlled. Thus, a magneto-optical recording and reproducing apparatus which is capable of high-density recording and high-speed data transfer, which supplies a stable and accurate optical output, and which facilitates the control of the optical output is provided.

A solid state laser apparatus is provided to generate a high quality and high power laser beam, and a laser machining apparatus is provided to perform laser machining by a laser beam generated from the solid state laser apparatus. In the solid state laser apparatus, a laser resonator includes a solid state component cooled in a cylindrical pipe by contacting liquid which is introduced through an inflow opening and discharged through an outflow opening, the solid state component having larger refractive index than that of the liquid, a light source turned ON by a power source to excite the solid state component, and an optical system transmitting light from the light source to the solid state component. Further, a surface roughness of the solid state component is adjusted so as to adjust an excitation distribution in a section of the solid state component. The solid state component further includes moving means for moving a reflection mirror and a condensing lens in a direction of an optical axis of the laser resonator, and a housing accommodating an image transferring optical system. A laser beam is generated from the laser resonator, and is externally derived and used to perform the laser machining.

A semiconductor-laser-pumped solid-state laser apparatus having a semiconductor laser device, a solid state laser medium, and laser resonators. The semiconductor laser device has a plurality of emission points which are arranged on a straight line and from which pump light is generated. The laser resonators are disposed in correspondence with the emission points. A plurality of solid state laser beams can be generated by using one solid state laser medium.

Semiconductor laser-pumped solid-state laser with plural beam output

A semiconductor-laser-pumped, solid-state laser includes a semiconductor pumping laser emitting pumping light, a solid-state laser medium arranged to be excited by the pumping light, and a laser resonator structure for emitting laser light from the solid-state laser medium. The solid-state laser medium is plate shaped having a thickness less than the broadening width of he pumping light in the solid-state laser medium. The semiconductor laser is arranged close to the face of the solid-state laser medium, and the laser resonator structure has an optical axis thereof coinciding with that of the pumping light.

An infrared fiber cable having a protective tube isolating the light for collimation which is a visible light. An infrared fiber is accommodated in the protective tube and adapted to conduct and emit an invisible light. Light emitting means is disposed around the infrared fiber and adapted to emit the light for collimation. The infrared fiber cable further includes a member adapted to allow the invisible light to pass therethrough but reflect the light for collimation. Also, an apparatus for preventing erroneous emission for a laser scalpel to be attached to such an optical fiber is provided. The apparatus operates to control emission of the laser beam for surgical operation in response to the position of the emission end of the optical fiber with respect to the object to be surgically operated.

An apparatus for analyzing in a mass spectrograph ions contained in gas emitted from a sample upon application of a laser beam spot to the surface of the sample, the apparatus including a vacuum vessel which houses the mass spectrograph therein, a support structure which supports the sample outside the vacuum vessel, a first laser irradiation device for applying a first laser beam to the surface of the sample, and a second laser irradiation device for applying a second laser beam to the flow of gas generated from the sample and flowing toward the mass spectrograph in the vacuum vessel through a nozzle provided in the same vessel.

Laser mass spectroscopic analyzer and method

A plurality of light detector pairs are spaced around the emitter end of a surgical laser handpiece with different, converging directivities to sense pilot beam reflections from a target. Their differentially compared outputs are applied to a distance determining unit having an adjustable threshold or majority decision level to detect when the end of the handpiece is at a desired distance from the target, whereupon the main laser beam is activated. Such a majority distance determination reduces activation errors due to the reflective characteristics and contours of the target surface and the angle of the handpiece.
