In some examples, a static part includes a static body and a first cylindrical extension extending from the static body, the first cylindrical extension including an open end with a cylindrical inner surface having a first diameter. A moveable part is moveable toward the static part by the magnetic flux of a solenoid. The moveable part may include a moveable body and a second cylindrical extension extending from the moveable body, the second cylindrical extension including a cylindrical outer surface having a second diameter, smaller than the first diameter, to enable the cylindrical outer surface to move within the open end. The second diameter is sized for the cylindrical outer surface to pass adjacent to the cylindrical inner surface to enable passage of a portion of the magnetic flux radially to reduce an energy of impact between the moveable part and the static part.

Low impact noise solenoid valve

A fuel pump having a housing defining a pump chamber and an inlet and outlet fluidly connected to the pump chamber. A one way check valve is disposed fluidly in series between the pump chamber and the outlet and is oriented to allow fluid flow from the pump chamber and to the outlet when the check valve is open. A venturi tube is fluidly connected in series between the pump chamber and the outlet which effectively dampens noise pulsations. An inlet valve to the pump chamber has an anchor attached to a valve member and the stationary core. A conical surface on the core abuts against a complementary conical surface on the anchor when the valve is either in its fully open or fully closed position.

Automotive fuel pump

A high pressure fuel pump for use with a direct injection engine having a housing which defines a pump chamber. A port is formed in the housing which fluidly connects a fuel in the passageway with the pump chamber. An elongated valve is movably mounted within the housing between an open and a closed position. In its open position, the inlet passageway is fluidly connected with the pump chamber while, conversely, in the closed position the fuel valve blocks the fluid flow between the inlet passageway and the pump chamber. A circuit controls the deceleration of the valve to reduce pump noise.

Fuel pump

A method for determining mechanical power dissipation in a vibratory system, assuming the system is linear time-invariant and steady-state. The method includes the steps of identifying connection points between the vibratory system and components outside the vibratory system. The acceleration is measured at each connection point in a windowed time domain and the force at each connection point is also determined for the windowed time domain. The time domain values are converted into the frequency domain values by the fast Fourier transform, and the frequency domain acceleration values are converted to velocity values. The power dissipation of the vibratory system then equals the summation of one half of the power flow into the vibratory system. Here, each power flow is one half of the real part of the product of complex-conjugated velocity times force at the connection point in the frequency domain for each time window.

Method for measuring mechanical power dissipation in a vibratory system

A high pressure fuel pipe construction for an internal combustion engine, such as a direct injection engine. A conduit for the fuel is open at each end and a ball having a throughbore is slidably positioned over one end of the conduit. A reinforcing sleeve is positioned inside the end of the conduit so that the sleeve extends entirely through the ball. The sleeve, ball and the end of the conduit are then brazed together to attach the ball and conduit together. A double chamfer is provided at one end of the ball throughbore to facilitate inspection of the brazing quality. Additionally, a loop is formed in the conduit and a dampener is attached to the loop.
