Thermal recording material

A process for producing microcapsules containing a diazonium salt compound, and a photofixation thermal recording material employing the same. The process comprises adding an organic solvent solution containing both the diazonium salt compound and a polyfunctional isocyanate compound to an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer, emulsifying the organic solvent solution into the aqueous solution using an emulsifying agent, and then polymerizing the polyfunctional isocyanate compound to form microcapsule walls, said emulsifying agent comprising an alkyl glucoside represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein n is an integer of 0 to 2 and R represents a linear or branched alkyl group having 4 to 18 carbon atoms.

Process for producing microcapsules containing a diazonium salt compound

A recording material which comprises a support having provided thereon capsules containing a photosensitive diazonium salt, and a polymerizable coupler. The recording material can give a predetermined hue when light, pressure, heat and the like are applied alone or in combination. The main advantages of the recording material are that a specific hue can be selected safely, mixing of colors can be avoided, desensitization problem does not occur and a fixed image can be obtained.

Image forming method

A multi-color heat-sensitive recording material which comprises a support having thereon at least two heat-sensitive recording layers, each of which comprises a colorless or pale-color color forming agent which forms a color by heating, a color developer and a binder, an intermediate layer being incorporated between the two heat-sensitive recording layers and the intermediate layer comprising at least gelatin and/or a gelatin derivative and polyvinyl pyrrolidone and/or a polyvinyl pyrrolidone derivative, with the polyvinylpyrrolidone and/or the polyvinylpyrrolidone derivative having an average molecular weight of not more than 160,000, the content of which ranges from 1 to 20 percent by weight based on the weight of the gelatin and/or gelatin derivative.

Multi-color heat-sensitive recording material

A diazo heat-sensitive recording material which comprises a support having thereon a heat-sensitive recording layer comprising a diazo compound, a coupling component, a basic substance, and a binder; wherein the coupling component is an acylacetanilide represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl; R.sub.2 is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aralkyl; R.sub.3 is substituted of unsubstituted alkyl, alkoxy, aralkyloxy, alkylthio, or aralkylthio, substituted amino, or halogeno; the total number of carbon atoms in R.sub.2 and (R.sub.3).sub.n is 5 or more; n is zero or an integer of from 1 to 4; and the R.sub.3 's may be the same or different when n is 2 or more, which is useful for forming a yellow color image and providing a developed color image with higher light-fastness, less soiling of a non-image area, and improved uniformity in color-developing layer due to the use of a more oil-soluble coupling component.

Diazo heat-sensitive recording material

A light-sensitive image-forming material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon a recording layer containing a leuco dye which forms color upon oxidative development, a photo-oxidizing agent and a reducing agent, wherein the leuco dye is an xanthene compound having a cyclic amino group at the 2-position. The light-sensitive image-forming material of the present invention provides an image having satisfactory color density and stability to light after imagewise exposure and fixation.

Light-sensitive image forming material

A multicolor recording material is disclosed, which comprises a support having provided thereon at least two layers each containing a leuco dye which is capable of forming a color by oxidation and a photo-oxidizing agent, wherein the leuco dyes contained in each layer are capable of forming different color from each other and the photo-oxidizing agents contained in each layer respond to light having different wavelength from each other. Another multicolor recording material is also disclosed, which comprises a support having provided thereon a layer containing at least two kinds of heat-responsive microcapsules which have different response temperature from each other, each containing a leuco dye which is capable of forming a color by oxidation and a photo-oxidizing agent, wherein the leuco dyes contained in each kind of microcapsule are capable of forming different color from each other and the photo-oxidizing agents contained in each kind of microcapsule respond to light having different wavelength from each other.

Multicolor recording material

A process for dispersing particles of an organic commpound in water is disclosed, which comprises dispersing the organic compound in water using (1) a water-soluble high molecular weight compound having a molecular weight of at least 10,000 and (2) a copolymer formed from a monomer represented by the following formula (I) and a monomer represented by the following formula (II), said copolymer having a molecular weight of not more than 10,000: ##STR1## wherein M.sub.1 and M.sub.2 each represents an alkali metal atom or an ammonium group; R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, or an ethyl group; and R.sub.2 represents an alkyl group having from 2 to 18 carbon atoms. A heat-sensitive recording material comprising a support having provided thereon a heat-sensitive recording layer, wherein (a) a microporous layer comprising at least one of a synthetic resin and a cellulose compound or (b) a layer comprising porous grains comprising secondary particles bound to the surface of primary particle as core is provided between the heat-sensitive recording layer and the support of the recording material.

Heat-sensitive recording material

A recording material is disclosed, which comprises a support having thereon a recording layer comprising at least one electron-donating colorless dye and at least one electron-accepting compound, wherein said electron-donating colorless dye is a fluorene derivative having a substituted amino group at the 3-position and the 5-position or a substituted amino group at the 2-position and the 6-position. The recording material gives colored portions having light absorption at near infrared region, has improved coloring property and shelf life, and gives colored images having improved stability.

A heat-sensitive recording material is disclosed. The material comprises a support having provided thereon a heat-sensitive color-forming layer containing a colorless or slightly colored electron donating dye precursor and an electron accepting compound which is capable of forming color by reaction with the said electron donating dye precursor, wherein said color-forming layer has provided thereon a protective layer containing a binder and said color-forming layer contains a hardening agent which is capable of hardening said binder in the protective layer by reaction with said binder.

A heat-sensitive recording material is disclosed. The material comprises a neutral paper support having provided on at least one surface thereof a heat-sensitive color forming layer containing a fluoran derivative having an arylamino group at the 2-position and an amine residual group at the 6-position, an electron accepting compound, a hindered phenol derivative and a heat-fusible compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a phenyl group or a halogen atom, X represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, and Z represents a divalent group.

A recording material is disclosed, which comprises a support having thereon a recording layer containing an at least one electron-donating colorless dye and at least one electron-accepting compound, wherein said electron-donating colorless dye is a copolymer of at least one polymerizable colorless dye monomer and at least one comonomer. The recording material has improved color forming property, shelf life, and stability of colored images.
