There is provided an apparatus for heat-activating a thermosensitive adhesive label. The thermosensitive label includes a support and a thermosensitive adhesive agent layer provided thereon which is not adhesive at room temperature, but becomes adhesive with application of heat. The apparatus according to the present invention includes a heating medium and a platen roller arranged opposite to the heating medium. The thermosensitive adhesive label is transported between the heating medium and the platen roller in a direction where the thermosensitive adhesive agent layer is faced with the heating medium. When a friction coefficient between the thermosensitive adhesive agent layers is less than 2.0, a pressing force of the thermosensitive adhesive label between the heating medium and the platen roller is in a range of from 50 to 5,000 g/25 mm at room temperature.

Heat activating and thermosensitive recording for thermosensitive adhesive label

A heat activatable adhesive composition including a thermoplastic resin, and a hindered phenol compound which is solid at 20&deg; C. and which is fusible at an elevated temperature. The adhesive composition is useful as a heat activatable adhesive layer of labels or sheets including a heat-sensitive recording label.

A thermosensitive recording label including a substrate, a thermosensitive coloring layer formed on one side of the substrate, and a thermosensitive adhesive layer which is formed on the opposite side of the substrate and which includes a thermoplastic resin and a tack applying agent and which is usually non-adhesive and becomes adhesive when activated by heat, wherein the thermoplastic resin includes a natural rubber which is graft-copolymerized with a vinyl monomer.

Thermosensitive recording label

A thermosensitive recording adhesive sheet capable of forming colored images thereon upon application of heat, comprising (a) a support material with print patterns on the front side or back side thereof, (b) a thermosensitive coloring layer formed on the support material, (c) an adhesive layer formed on the back side of the support material, opposite to the thermosensitive coloring layer, and (d) a disposable backing sheet which is attached to the adhesive layer and can be peeled off the adhesive layer when the thermosensitive recording adhesive label is used. When necessary, (e) a protective layer for protecting the thermosensitive coloring layer and for improving the thermal head matching properties of the thermosensitive coloring layer can be formed on the thermosensitive coloring layer. Further, (f) an undercoat layer which is interposed between the support material and the thermosensitive coloring layer and (g) a back coat layer which bears a print pattern and is formed on the back side of the support material, opposite to the undercoat layer, can also be formed.
