An electric motor unit includes an electric motor and a connection module. The electric motor includes motor coils, a stator and a rotor. The electrical connection module includes a power feed bus bar and a neutral bus bar. The power feed bus bar includes power feed collars for each phase, in which terminal portions for each phase are arranged. The neutral bus bar includes a neutral collar in which neutral terminal portions are arranged. When viewed in a direction intersecting with a second cross section, which intersects with a first cross section containing all the neutral terminal portions, the minimum distance between a second cross-section neutral terminal row on the second cross section and a second cross-section power feed terminal row on the second cross section is greater than zero.

A magnet embedded rotor configured to provide an improved magnetization ratio of the field permanent magnets is provided. The magnet embedded rotor includes a first annular core in which first permanent magnets are embedded, and a second annular core in which second permanent magnets, which are independent from the first permanent magnets, are embedded. The magnet embedded rotor has a structure in which the second annular core is fitted onto the outer periphery of the first annular core. The first permanent magnets and the second permanent magnets constitute field permanent magnets.

Magnet embedded rotor and method of manufacturing the magnet embedded rotor

In a method for manufacturing an electric motor, a cylindrical stator core circumferentially dividable into a plurality of core components is inserted into a circular internal surface of a motor housing. In this case, the motor housing is heated to be expanded thermally thereby enlarge circular internal surface thereof. Then, the stator core is fit over the external surface of an, insertion guide head of a generally cylindrical shape, and the insertion guide head is moved ward toward the thermally expanded motor housing secured on a fixed table to insert the stator re inside the motor housing. When the insertion guide head reaches a predetermined axial position inside the motor housing, a pressing mechanism incorporated in the insertion guide head is operated to press the core components on the circular internal surface of the motor using. Then, the motor housing is contracted as the temperature thereof goes down, whereby the core components are secured such that each of core components is pressed at lateral surfaces thereof against the next core components in the circumferential direction as a result of being pressed by the circular internal surface of the motor housing.

Method for manufacturing electric motor

In a rotor having plural permanent magnets secured on a rotary shaft for use in, e.g., an electric motor which is incorporated preferably into a rack-type electric power steering device, a cylindrical cover is fit on the rotary shaft to cover the external surfaces of the plural permanent magnets, and one or both axial end portions of the cylindrical cover are plastically deformed thereby to secure the cylindrical cover onto the rotary shaft. Thus, the cylindrical cover is firmly secured to the rotary shaft and, even when one or more permanent magnets are separated from the rotary shaft or broken, prevents the separated permanent magnets or the broken fragments from scattering within a housing of the motor.
