The invention provides a hot dip galvanized steel sheet which has: a hot dip galvanizing layer having a flat part on a surface thereof; and a film formed on the flat part. The film is composed of a compound containing Zn, Fe, and O, having an average film thickness A in a range from 10 to 100 nm determined by an element analysis of the film, and has {[Fe]/([Zn]+[Fe])} in the film in a range from 0.002 to 0.25, where [Zn] and [Fe] designate the content (% by atom) of Zn and Fe in the film, respectively. Since the hot dip galvanized steel sheet of the invention has excellent press-formability, bondability, and phosphatability, it is suitable for automobiles and electrical appliances.

The invention provides a method for producing a hot-dip plated metal strip comprising the steps of: annealing a metal strip; imparting plastic strain to the metal strip; drawing the metal strip into a molten metal bath for plating; drawing up the metal strip out of the molten metal bath without contacting the molten metal with a roll in the molten metal bath after turning around the metal strip upward with adhering the molten metal on the metal strip; and controlling the coating weight of the molten metal adhered on the metal strip with a wiper. According to the method of the invention, a hot-dip plated metal strip can be produced, in which buckling does not occur, lateral evenness of coating weight is excellent, and dross defects are few.

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a hot-dip plated metal strip comprising the steps of: introducing a metal strip into a molten metal bath of plating metal to adhere the molten metal onto the surface of the metal strip; taking out the metal strip, after turning the running direction of the metal strip, from the molten metal bath without applying external force from outside the surface of the metal strip; adjusting the plating weight of the molten metal adhered onto the metal strip; and controlling the shape of the metal strip using magnetic force in non-contact state directly before or after the step of adjusting the coating weight. The invention prevents adhesion of dross to the metal strip without degrading the productivity, and thus manufactures a high quality hot-dip plated metal strip.

The invention relates to a high strength hot-dip galvanized steel sheet consisting essentially of 0.03 to 0.25% C, 0.7% or less Si, 1.4 to 3.5% Mn, 0.05% or less P, 0.01% or less S, 0.05 to 1% Cr, 0.005 to 0.1% Nb, by mass, and balance of Fe, and being made of a composite structure of ferrite and secondary phase, and having an average grain size of the composite structure of 10 &#x3bc;m or smaller. Since the high strength hot-dip galvanized steel sheet of the present invention hardly induces softening at HAZ during welding, it is applicable to structural members of automobiles for 'Tailor Welded Blanks' (TWB).

High strength hot-dip galvanized steel sheet and method for manufacturing the same

The invention provides a galvannealed steel sheet which has an oxide layer having 10 nm or larger thickness on the plateau of the coating layer flattened by temper rolling. With the use of the galvannealed steel sheet, no powdering occurs during press-forming, and stable and excellent sliding performance is attained. By selecting the area percentage of the plateau of the flattened coating layer to a range from 20 to 80%, making the coating layer single layer of &dgr; phase, and letting &zgr; phase exist in the &dgr; phase, further improved sliding performance and anti-powdering property are obtained.
