A low pressure EGR regulating valve is driven by an electric actuator, and an output of the electric actuator is transmitted to an intake air throttle valve through a link device. An ECU executes a failure determination to determine presence of a failure in a case where a sensed opening degree, which is sensed with a low pressure EGR opening degree sensor, is other than an opening degree that corresponds to a maximum opening degree of the throttle valve limited by a mechanical stopper. The ECU executes the failure determination after the energization of the electric actuator is stopped in response to stopping of the engine.

Low pressure exhaust gas recirculation apparatus

When a valve body is rotated toward a full-close position in a valve-close mode, a control portion controls an electric motor so that the rotating speed of the valve body is lower than that in a valve-open mode. A rotating speed of the valve body around the shaft in the valve-close mode is lower than that in the valve-open mode. Thus, when the seal ring is brought into contact with the inner wall surface, an impact generated therebetween can be moderated. While the valve body is rotated toward the full-close position, a seal ring is gradually elastically deformed. A sliding friction between the seal ring and the inner wall surface can be reduced.

Valve apparatus

A converting mechanism is provided between an EGR control valve driven by an actuator and an intake-air valve for generating negative pressure, so that the intake-air valve is also driven by the actuator. The converting mechanism has a cam plate rotated together with the EGR control valve and an arm rotated together with the intake-air valve. A cam groove formed in the cam plate is engaged with a driving pin of the arm. The intake-air valve is held at its maximum valve opening position, when the EGR control valve is rotated in a first angular range, while the intake-air valve is rotated from the valve opening position to a maximum valve closing position when the EGR control valve is rotated in a second angular range.

Low pressure EGR apparatus

An actuator includes an electric motor and a drive force transmitting mechanism. The drive force transmitting mechanism includes a rotary gear and a rotary cam. The rotary gear transmits a drive force of the electric motor to an EGR valve to drive the same. The rotary cam transmits the drive force of the electric motor to a mode change valve to drive the same. The rotary cam is releasably linkable to the rotary gear to receive the drive force of the electric motor through the rotary gear.

Exhaust gas recirculation system

A rotation angle detecting device includes a magnet (), a magnetic substance unit (), and a non-contact magnetic detection element (). The magnet () rotates with an object to be measured and includes two ends magnetized so as to have opposite polarities. The magnetic substance unit () forms a predetermined air gap with the two ends of the magnet () and is divided into magnetic members () so as to provide plane symmetry with respect to a vertical plane perpendicularly crossing a rotational center axis of the magnet () to form a magnetic detection gap () by the division. The non-contact magnetic detection element () is provided in the magnetic detection gap () between the magnetic members () so as to output a signal corresponding to a density of a magnetic flux passing through the magnetic detection gap (). The rotation angle of the object to be measured is detected based on the output signal from the magnetic detection element (). The magnetic members () include reverse warp parts () so that the air gap suddenly increases when the magnet () rotates at a predetermined rotation angle from a state where the air gap is minimum in a direction in which the air gap increases.

Rotation angle detecting device

An air amount control valve is connected to a sidewall of a throttle body in which a main air passage for supplying intake air into an internal combustion engine is formed. The air amount control valve has a bypass air passage bypassing the main passage and controls an amount of air flowing through the bypass air passage, thereby controlling an idling speed of the engine. The air amount control valve includes an aluminum alloy housing having a valve hole and a rotatable valve body having a valve surface facing a fringe wall of the valve hole. To prevent deposits from adhering to the fringe wall facing the valve surface, an anodic oxide film is formed to cover the fringe wall and further a fluororesin film is formed on the anodic oxide film.

Air amount control valve having valve body for controlling air passage

An inner periphery of a housing 1 supports a rotary shaft rotatably via a pair of bearings 3, and a valve body 5 which is secured to the rotary shaft 4 changes at least one opening area of an intake port 19 and an outlet port 14 formed in the inner periphery. A biasing member 25 biases the bearings in a one-way direction. Therefore, the valve body 5 is moved or biased by the biasing member to the inner periphery of the collar 2 via the bearings, thereby decreasing leakage in the valve when closing. Therefore, even if difference of the thermal expansion coefficient between the housing 1 and the valve body 5 is significant, the leakage can be decreased, thus increasing variety of the material choice. In addition, even if the difference of the thermal expansion coefficient between the housing 1 and the ball bearings is significant, the bearings may not become loose due to expansion of the collar 2, therefore the housing may be selected from various kinds of material including resinous material.

Fluid flow control rotary valve

A normal-direction mode which switches on first and fourth switches and in a mutually diagonal relationship of an H-type bridge circuit and switches off second and third switches also in a mutually diagonal relationship of the bridge circuit is executed for an on-duty time of an opening-degree command signal, and a reverse-direction mode which switches off the first and fourth switches and switches off the second and third switches is executed for an off-duty time of the opening-degree command signal. During normal operation, conduction of current to the H-type bridge circuit 70 and a coil is constantly performed irrespective of a degree of opening of a valve to be adjusted, and in a case where conduction is interrupted, it can be presumed that a broken wire has occurred in the H-type bridge circuit or coil, and determination of a broken wire can be made.

Drive circuit for a bidirectional flow control valve

An atmospheric pressure compensation device has a reed valve of a resiliently bendable sheet material extending over a flat valve seat which defines therein an opening leading to an air passage to be connected to an air bleed of a carburetor, for example. The angular position of the freely bendable end portion of the reed valve relative to the valve seat is varied by a bellows member which is expansible and contractible in response to variation in the atmospheric pressure, to thereby control the rate of air flow through the opening and the passage to the air bleed. A fulcrum member is disposed in engagement with the reed valve to urge the same against the valve seat. The point of engagement of the fulcrum member with the reed valve is variable along the length thereof to vary the freely bendable length of the reed valve.

Atmospheric pressure compensation device

An altitude compensating apparatus for use with an engine includes a bellows in which the air or gas is confined at a predetermined suitable pressure. The bellows expands as the atmospheric pressure lowers on the high lands. A first valve operatively connected to the bellows opens air outlet to introduce the air into air bleeds of a carburetor with the expansion of the bellows thereby to reduce the fuel mixed with the air in the carburetor. A second valve connected to the bellows operates to introduce the negative pressure into a vacuum advancer of a distributor with the expansion of the bellows thereby to advance the ignition timing of the engine.
