The present disclosure relates to a fluorescence/phosphorescence detector that detects fluorescence and phosphorescence emitted from a transported sheet, including: a light source configured to irradiate a transported sheet with light; a light receiver configured to receive fluorescence and phosphorescence emitted from the sheet and output fluorescence data and phosphorescence data; and a controller configured to control the light source and acquire fluorescence data and phosphorescence data from the light receiver, the controller being configured to turn on the light source in a first predetermined period, turn on the light source in a second predetermined period after the first predetermined period, keep the light source turned off for a third predetermined period after the second predetermined period, acquire fluorescence data on fluorescence received by the light receiver in the second predetermined period, and acquire phosphorescence data on phosphorescence received by the light receiver in the third predetermined period.

Fluorescence/phosphorescence detection device, paper sheet processing device, and fluorescence/phosphorescence detection method

Provided is an image sensor lighting unit including at least one light guide extending in a main scanning direction; a first light source group facing a first end surface of at least two end surfaces of the at least one light guide in the main scanning direction; and a second light source group facing a second end surface of the at least two end surfaces. The first light source group includes a first light source that emits light having a predetermined wavelength band. The second light source group includes a second light source that emits light having the wavelength band. An X-coordinate of the first light source in a corresponding XY-coordinate system is equal in absolute value to an X-coordinate of the second light source in a corresponding XY-coordinate system, with the at least one light guide viewed from the first end surface side in the main scanning direction.

Illumination device for image sensor

A reflective member is disposed on the optical path from the linear light source to the lens array. An ultraviolet light blocking filter is provided closer to a light-receiving unit than the reflective member. A color filter is provided closer to the light-receiving unit than the ultraviolet light blocking filter. A light-receiving surface of the light-receiving unit has a first region opposed to the reflective member without the ultraviolet light blocking filter and the color filter interposed therebetween, a second region opposed to the reflective member and the ultraviolet light blocking filter without the color filter interposed therebetween, and a third region opposed to the reflective member, the ultraviolet light blocking filter, and the color filter.

Optical linear sensor unit

A paper sheet recognition apparatus can generate a subtracted reflective light image without increasing detection time. To that end, the operations of sensors are controlled in a plurality of phases. The phases include a phase (reflected infrared light) in which a first light emission unit emits light, a second light emission unit emits no light, and an optical sensor detects reflective light. In another phase, (reflected infrared light) the first light emission unit emits no light, the second light emission unit emits light, and the optical sensor detects reflective light. In at least one of these phases, a light emission unit emits light, and an optical sensor detects transmissive light.

Paper sheet identification device and paper sheet identification method

By overlapping lighting timings of light sources that emit lights of a plurality of different wavelength bands including a wavelength band of at least a visible light region and an infrared light region, the lights of the plurality of the different wavelength bands including the wavelength band of at least the visible light region and the infrared light region are emitted on a banknote while securing an overlap in timings thereof. Moreover, by using light receiving elements each including a bandpass filter that allows only light of a wavelength range that corresponds to the wavelength band of each of the light sources, received light intensities of the light of the wavelength range that corresponds to the wavelength band of each of the light sources are acquired simultaneously, and image data are formed based on the received light intensity of every acquired wavelength band.

Light receiving sensor, sensor module, and paper sheet handling apparatus

Light is emitted on one side of a paper sheet, which is being transported on a transport path, from a first light source, and light is emitted on other side of the paper sheetfrom a second light sourceand a fourth light source. A first light receiving sensorreceives a first reflected light, which is the light emitted by the first light sourceand reflected from the one side of the paper sheet. A second light receiving sensorreceives a second reflected light, which is the light emitted by the second light sourceand the fourth light sourceand reflected from the other side of the paper sheet, and receives a transmitted light that is the light emitted by the first light sourceand that has passed through the paper sheet. With this, satisfactory reflection image and transmission image of the paper sheet can be acquired while realizing the downsizing of the device.

Image acquisition device and image acquisition method

Light is emitted on one side of a paper sheet, which is being transported on a transport path, from a first light source, and light is emitted on other side of the paper sheetfrom a second light sourceand a fourth light source. A first light receiving sensorreceives a first reflected light, which is the light emitted by the first light sourceand reflected from the one side of the paper sheet. A second light receiving sensorreceives a second reflected light, which is the light emitted by the second light sourceand the fourth light sourceand reflected from the other side of the paper sheet, and receives a transmitted light that is the light emitted by the first light sourceand that has passed through the paper sheet.

To detect a fluorescent light and a phosphorescent light emitted from a paper sheet with a high precision, a fluorescence and phosphorescence detecting apparatus includes two sensor units. Each sensor unit includes a light source that emits an ultraviolet light on the paper sheet, an image sensor that captures images of the fluorescent light and the phosphorescent light excited on the paper sheet by irradiation of the ultraviolet light, and a light receiving lens that guides the fluorescent light and the phosphorescent light excited on the paper sheet to the image sensor. The two sensor units are arranged above and below the transport path and opposing each other across the transport path, and the light receiving lenses and the image sensors in the two sensor units are off-set along a transport direction of the paper sheet.

Fluorescence and phosphorescence detecting apparatus

A banknote is irradiated with lights of plural wavelengths. Images of the banknote for each wavelength are acquired. An IR ratio image having a pixel value that is a ratio of a pixel value of the image acquired by the visible light to a corresponding pixel value of the image acquired by the infrared light is generated. The banknote image and the IR ratio image are corrected by a coefficient corresponding to the banknote type, the banknote orientation, and the wavelength. From the banknote image or the IR ratio image, by using the information pertaining to the banknote type, the banknote orientation, and the wavelength, intermediate evaluation values are calculated for each wavelength. Mahalanobis distance is calculated based on the intermediate evaluation values, an average value and a variance-covariance matrix of the intermediate evaluation values, and a degree of soiling is determined based on the Mahalanobis distance.
