When a transport section transports be a media, a controller of an image reading apparatus determines the lengths of the media in the transport direction, based on detection results of a medium detector. When determining that a length of a medium is equal to or more than a threshold and then determining that a length of a subsequent medium is equal to or more than the threshold, the controller decreases an ejection speed of the subsequent medium to a second speed by the transport section. When determining that a length of a medium is equal to or more than the threshold and then determining that a length of a subsequent medium is less than the threshold, the controller decreases the ejection speed from the first speed to a third speed that is lower than the second speed by the transport section.

A medium feed device includes edge guides provided at a medium placement part including a placement surface on which a medium is placed and including guide surfaces that guide edges in a direction intersecting with a feed direction of the medium; and a restriction part configured to take a position between the edge guides such that a position of the restriction part in a direction normal to the placement surface is a position at which the restriction part suppresses a lift of the medium from the placement surface and a position at which the restriction part suppresses separation of the edges of the medium from the guide surfaces. The position of the restriction part at which the restriction part suppresses the lift is located on a placement surface side with respect to an intermediate position between upper ends of the guide surfaces and the placement surface.

A medium transporting device includes a driving roller that transports a medium and that is driven to rotate, a driven roller that nips the medium between the driving roller and the driven roller and rotates in accordance with the rotation of the driving roller, a rotary shaft of the driven roller, a first pressing member that presses the rotary shaft in a direction in which the driven roller comes into contact with the driving roller, a second pressing member that presses the rotary shaft in a direction in which the driven roller comes into contact with the driving roller, and a spacer member that is integrally provided with a first spacer interposed between the rotary shaft and the first pressing member and a second spacer interposed between the rotary shaft and the second pressing member.

Medium transporting device, image reading apparatus, and recording apparatus

A scanner includes a feeding unit, a transport unit provided downstream of the feeding unit, and a first reading unit provided downstream of the transport unit, a second reading unit provided to face the first reading unit across the transport path and configured to be displaceable in a direction of advancing and retreating with respect to the first reading unit, a second medium detection portion as detection means for detecting a specific portion provided in the sheet holder for specifying front and back sides of the sheet holder in which the booklet is sandwiched, and a control unit that determines whether or not a reading surface of the sheet holder faces the first reading unit based on the detection information of the second medium detection portion and executes a front/back side determination processing mode for performing processing based on the determination.

Image reading apparatus

A recording apparatus includes a carriage, a transport drive roller, and a plurality of gears. The carriage includes a recording head configured to record onto a medium. The carriage is configured to move in a movement region in a first direction and a second direction that is an opposite direction thereto. The transport drive roller is configured to transport the medium to a recording region in which the recording head performs recording. The plurality of gears are configured to transmit power of a motor to the transport drive roller. When the carriage is positioned at an end of the movement region in the second direction, at least a portion of one of the plurality of gears overlaps the carriage when viewed along a vertical direction that is parallel to a direction of gravity and overlaps the recording head when viewed along an axial direction of the transport drive roller.

Recording apparatus

A printer includes a cap unit, a transporting driving roller, a power transmitting unit, and a pump. At least a part of each of the cap unit, the transporting driving roller, the power transmitting unit, and the pump has the same height in a height direction of the apparatus (a Z-axis direction) and the cap unit, the transporting driving roller, the power transmitting unit, and the pump are arranged along a direction (a Y-axis direction) intersecting with a rotational axis line direction (an X-axis direction) of the transporting driving roller. Therefore, it is possible to arrange so as to suppress each dimension of the cap unit, the transporting driving roller, the power transmitting unit, and the pump in a height direction and it is possible to contribute to the miniaturization of the apparatus.

An ink jet recording apparatus includes a case; a recording head that performs recording by ejecting liquid to a medium provided in the case; a base portion provided in a position that faces the recording head and has a medium supporting portion that supports the medium; a protruding portion that is provided in any one of an area facing a bottom portion of the case in the medium supporting portion or an area facing the base portion in the bottom portion in the case, protrudes to the other one, and extends in a first direction intersecting a transportation direction of the medium; and a receiving portion that is provided in any one of an area facing the bottom portion of the case in the medium supporting portion and an area facing the medium supporting portion in the bottom portion of the case, and receives the protruding portion.

Serial printers and line printers

A printer includes a first roller and a second roller that pinch a paper sheet therebetween and rotate to transport the paper sheet to the recording unit, a roller support member that support the second roller and is capable of switching between a first state in which the second roller is in contact with the first roller and a second state in which the second roller is moved away from the first roller, and a slider that engages the roller support member and is linearly displaceable in the rotation axis direction of the second roller so as to perform switching by the roller support member.

A recording apparatus has a recording medium feeding mechanism for feeding a recording medium by one at a time, a recording head for performing recording, a discharging roller having a discharging driven roller and a discharge driving roller and a recording medium stacker capable of being changed to a first position in which recording is performed on a hard recording medium and a second position in which recording is performed on a recording medium fed by the recording medium feeding mechanism, wherein the discharging driven roller is in contact with the discharge driving roller in case the recording medium stacker is in second position, and the discharging driven roller is separated from a recording medium transfer path in case the recording medium stacker is in first position.

A recording apparatus includes: a feeder, provided in an upstream in a transfer path for transferring a medium, for feeding the medium to a downstream in the transfer path one by one, the medium being stacked at an angle; a recording head, provided in the downstream of the feeder, for performing recording for the medium; a carriage, on which the recording head is mounted, for reciprocating in a main scanning direction along a carriage guide axis; a transfer roller for transferring the medium by rotating, the transfer roller including a transfer-driving roller and a transfer-driven roller; a stacker having a medium-placed surface, the stacker being positioned at a first position allowing the medium to be substantially horizontally fed from the medium-placed surface to a position under the recording head and be substantially horizontally discharged from the position under the recording head onto the medium-placed surface, or a second position for receiving and stacking the medium fed by the feeder, the second position being on a lower level than the first position, the medium-placed surface being arranged substantially horizontally when the stacker is positioned at the first position and is arranged at an angle when the stacker is positioned at the second position; and a first link mechanism for displacing the stacker to cause the carriage guide axis to displace. The carriage guide axis can be displaced upward and is prevented from moving downward when the stacker is positioned at the first position.
