An information processing apparatus includes a memory and a processor configured to obtain information on a relation between virtual volumes used by a virtual machine and physical volumes provided in a storage apparatus from a management machine configured to manage allocations of the virtual volumes to the physical volumes; store the obtained information into a management information stored in the memory; and in response to receiving a copy request, obtain information on a first physical volume allocated to the first virtual volume designated as a copy participant in the copy request from the management information when the information on the first virtual volume is present in the management information, and send the storage apparatus a copy instruction designating the first physical volume as a copy participant. Obtain the information on the relation is performed when the information on the first virtual volume is not present in the management information.

A storage management apparatus includes a prevention instructing unit and an execution instructing unit. The prevention instructing unit transmits an update prevention instruction to prevent data in a backup source volume from being updated by an information processing apparatus. After the update prevention instruction is transmitted, the execution instructing unit transmits to the storage apparatus an execution instruction to cause the storage apparatus to execute a snapshot creation process and a backup process. The snapshot creation process creates a snapshot of the backup source volume using a copy-on-write scheme. The backup process copies updated data among the data in the backup source volume to a backup destination volume.

System and apparatus for controlling data backup using an update prevention instruction

When a failure occurs in a storage device, a backup unit specifies LUNs of a copy source and a copy destination to an operation volume for which a process is not taken over to another storage device and instructs to perform a copy. When a copy processing unit in the storage device receives a copy process to be performed in the operation volume, the copy processing unit performs the copy process by using the specified LUNs of the copy source and the copy destination. If an error occurs without the copy process being taken over to another storage device due to the occurrence of a failover, the backup unit acquires the LUNs of two volumes of a copy pair and the volumes each constituting each of cluster pairs. Then, the backup unit again performs the copy process by using the acquired LUNs.

A chemical vapor deposition (CVD) system for depositing a material selectively on a part of a substrate comprises a reaction chamber in which a CVD process is performed, a substrate holder and substrate heater provided within the reaction chamber, a gas inlet fixture provided on the reaction chamber for introducing one or more CVD source gases into the reaction chamber, and a reactant distribution fixture provided on the gas inlet fixture within the reaction chamber for controlling distribution of the reactant species in the reaction chamber, wherein the reactant distribution fixture defines a subspace surrounding the substrate within the space of the reaction chamber such that the subspace has a dimension, measured in a direction generally perpendicular to the surface of the substrate such that the dimension is at least less than one half of the mean free path of the reactant species realized inside the space of the reaction chamber during the CVD process and such that an opening is formed for communicating the subspace inside the reaction distribution means with the rest of the space of the reaction chamber for freely passing product species formed as a result of the chemical reaction at the surface of the substrate.
