An integrated optical circuit for fiber-optics gyroscopes comprising two pairs of waveguide conduits each having a pair of input/output ports on each of end surfaces of a substrate opposed to each other and a pair of directional couplers each disposed between the two waveguide conduits forming each of the pairs of waveguide conduits. The pair of the directional couplers are connected to each other through a waveguide conduit in which a polarizer is disposed in its course, the other waveguide conduits connected to the directional couplers have metal coatings in their courses and non-reflective coatings on an end surface of the substrate. This integrated optical circuit is capable of preventing electromagnetic beams from being radiated into the substrate and suppressing re-entry of radiated electromagnetic beams into the waveguide conduits.

In a coating type magnetic recording medium, a base film is coated with a magnetic paint composition comprising a binder and a magnetic powder mixture of magnetic metal particles with magnetic metal carbide particles or magnetic metal particles having a metal carbide coating on the surface thereof. Preferably, the metal is iron and the metal carbide is iron carbide.

A magnetic recording medium including a magnetic layer formed on a plastic base and having perpendicular magnetic anisotropy suited for perpendicular magnetization, has a back coating formed on the rear side of the base opposite the magnetic side. The back coating is a thermoset coating cured from a thermosetting composition or a radiation-cured coating cured from radiation-curable composition containing at least one component having at least one acrylic, maleic, or allylic double bond.
