Cyclohexene is separated from a mixture of cyclohexene and at least one of cyclohexane and benzene by subjecting the mixture to extractive distillation in the presence of an extraction solvent the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each is a C.sub.1-10 alkyl group or hydrogen, and n is an integer of from 2-4, thereby preparing a fraction rich in cyclohexene.

Method for separating cyclohexene

An oligomerization of .alpha.-olefins is carried out in a solvent using a chromium-based catalyst system comprising at least (a) a chromium compound, (b) at least one nitrogen-containing compound selected from amines, amides and imides, and (c) an alkylaluminum compound, and the catalyst components and by-product polymers are recovered simultaneously from the reaction solution. Such process is an industrially advantageous process for producing .alpha.-olefin oligomers by using a chromium-based catalyst, and is simple and capable of efficiently recovering the by-product polymers and the catalyst components simultaneously.

Process for the preparation of .alpha.-olefin oligomers

A C.sub.9 alcohol mixture for plasticizer obtained by the hydroformylation and hydrogenation of a C.sub.8 olefin mixture as the starting material obtained by the dimerization of a butene fraction, said alcohol mixture comprising from 8 to 50% by weight of a first group component having a retention time not longer than the retention time of isobutyl n-caprylate, from 8 to 40% by weight of a second group component having a retention time longer than that of isobutyl n-caprylate and not longer than that of methyl n-caprate and from 20 to 80% by weight of a third group component having a retention time longer than that of methyl n-caprate, as divided into such three components by gas chromatography using a capillary column packed with a polyethylene glycol having a number average molecular weight of 15,000 to 20,000 as an isomer separating agent.

Preparation of C.sub.9 alcohol mixture and plasticizer

A method for recovering rhodium comprising the steps of: adding a basic compound to an organic solution containing a rhodium complex containing at least one type of organophosphorus compound as a ligand and an organophosphorus compound, combusting the resultant mixture to ash under a controlled temperature of less than 1,000.degree. C.; and cleaning the ash using a cleaning solution containing a reducing agent.

A C.sub.9 alcohol mixture used to make a plasticizer obtained by the hydroformylation and hydrogenation of a C.sub.8 olefin mixture as the starting material obtained by the dimerization of a butene fraction, said alcohol mixture comprising from 8 to 50% by weight of a first group component having a retention time not longer than the retention time of isobutyl n-caprylate, from 8 to 40% by weight of a second group component having a retention time longer than that of isobutyl n-caprylate and not longer than that of methyl n-caprate and from 20 to 80% by weight of a third group component having a retention time longer than that of methyl n-caprate, as divided into such three components by gas chromatography using a capillary column packed with a polyethylene glycol having a number average molecular weight of 15,000 to 20,000 as an isomer separating agent.

Alcohol mixture for plasticizer

A C.sub.10 alcohol mixture for plasticizer, which comprises 2-propylheptanol (hereinafter referred to as 'PRH'), an alcohol having a structure of condensation product of n-valeraldehyde and 2-methylbutyraldehyde (hereinafter referred to as 'Component A'), an alcohol having a structure of condensation product of n-valeraldehyde and 3-methylbutyraldehyde (hereinafter referred to as 'Component B'), an alcohol having a structure of condensation product of n-valeraldehyde and pivalaldehyde (hereinafter referred to as 'Component C'), and other C.sub.10 alcohols (hereinafter referred to as 'Component D'), characterized in that the respective components are present in the following molar ratios:

Alcohol mixture for plasticizer and method for producing the same

A process for the hydroformylation of an olefin, which comprises hydroformylating an olefinic compound by reacting it with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a hydroformylation reaction zone in the presence of a catalyst solution containing rhodium and an oxide of an organic trivalent phosphorus compound to form an aldehyde having a carbon number larger by one than that of the olefinic compound; adding an organic trivalent phosphorus compound to the reaction mixture, followed by distillation to separate a distillate containing the aldehyde from a high-boiling residue containing rhodium; oxidizing the high-boiling residue at the same time as or subsequent to the distillation to convert the organic trivalent phosphorus compound to its oxide; and recycling the oxidized residue to the hydroformylation reaction zone as a recycling catalyst solution, wherein the hydroformylation reaction is conducted under a condition such that the proportion of an alcohol content supplied as contained in the recycling catalyst solution is maintained at a level of not higher than 14% by weight based on the total amount of the olefinic compound and the catalyst solution supplied to the hydroformylation reaction zone.
