The weft yarn is selectively gripped and released by movable and stationary disc members in response to the weaving operation of the loom. The gripping force applied to the weft yarn by the members is such controlled that under beating of the reed, the magnitude of the force is decreased by a predetermined value thereby inducing a slippage of the weft yarn in the members.

Weft yarn grasping apparatus for fluid jet loom

When weaving, movable and stationary discs grasp or grip intermittently the weft yarn therebetween. One of the discs has at its contacting surface a circular recess encircled by a bank. The ridge of the bank contacting the flat surface of the other disc does the gripping.

Straight and arcuate members define an aperture through which a weft yarn is carried by a jet stream of pressurized air. The leading end of the arcuate member closely approaches the straight member to form an exit slot through which the weft yarn is permitted to pass on exit of the same. A flat spring member is arranged to extend from the arcuate member toward the straight member to close the exit slot and is provided with a screen which fluidly seals the space between the flat spring member and the arcuate member.

In a weaving loom of the shuttleless type having a fluid discharge nozzle adapted to shoot a jet stream of fluid entraining a pick of weft yarn for inserting the weft yarn into the weaving shed of the loom, a fluid supplying and discharging apparatus comprising first valve means alternately opened in synchronism with the weaving cycles of the loom, second valve means for providing communication between the first valve means and a source of fluid under pressure when the loom is in operation, third valve means to be manually operated to open to provide communication between the fluid source and the nozzle through a passageway by-passing the second valve means which is closed when the loom is at rest, and flow restricting means for reducing the fluid pressure to be supplied to the nozzle through the third valve means.

Air ejected from a nozzle past a yarn inlet of a detaining device creates a vacuum and inducts a weft yarn which is then carried by the stream of air to the yarn outlet.

A casing is disposed about yarn grasping means, in which yarn waste is collectable, to allow the yarn waste in the casing to be enforcedly exhausted therefrom by the suctorial operation mode by a weft yarn shooting nozzle.

A pair of normally open scissor blades, one fixed the other movable, is mounted on the face of a reed. A pressure applying member closes the blades, via a cam mechanism, at a predetermined position of the reed to sever a weft yarn.
