A reinforcing sleeve for collectively reinforcing spliced portions of a plurality of optical fiber core wires disposed side by side includes a heat-shrinkable tube, a heat-meltable member, a tension member, and so on. The tension member and the heat-meltable member are inserted into the heat-shrinkable member. A thick portion is provided at a substantially center portion of a width direction of the heat-meltable member. Thus, on a cross section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the heat-meltable member, an amount of the heat-meltable member at proximity of the center portion of the width direction of the heat-meltable member is greater than an amount of the heat-meltable member at proximity of the end portions of the width direction of the heat-meltable member. This forms a flow of the heat-meltable member from the center portion toward the end portions in the width direction at the time of melting the heat-meltable member.

Reinforcing sleeve, reinforcing structure of spliced portion of optical fiber

A reinforcing sleeve is a member for collectively reinforcing spliced portions of a plurality of optical fiber core wires disposed side by side. The reinforcing sleeve includes a heat-shrinkable tube, a heat-meltable member, a tension member, and so on. The heat shrinkable tube is a cylindrical member having an approximately circular cross section. The tension member and the heat-meltable member are inserted into the heat-shrinkable tube. The heat-meltable member is disposed on an upper part of the tension member. Also, an optical fiber dispersion portion is formed on a surface of the tension member on a side of the heat-meltable member in a cross section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the reinforcing sleeve. The optical fiber dispersion portion includes an inclined portion that is formed so as to separate away from the heat-meltable member as being closer to an end portion of a width direction in a cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the tension member.

A fusion condition providing system for an optical fiber fusion splicer includes: a storage device storing a database of fusion conditions; a user-side communication unit transmitting a command for requesting a fusion condition for a pair of optical fibers to be fusion spliced by a user's fusion splicer; and a data management unit. The data management unit, in accordance with the command received from the user-side communication unit via a network, transmits the requested fusion condition among the plurality of fusion conditions inside the storage device to the user-side communication unit via the network so that the requested fusion condition is available for use in the fusion splicer. If the requested fusion condition was not in the database, the data management unit updates the database by causing the requested fusion condition to be newly created and storing the newly created fusion condition in the database.

Optical fiber fusion splicer

An optical connector kit includes a ferrule-with-optical-fiber and an accommodating housing for accommodating all connector parts constituting an optical connector, including the ferrule-with-optical-fiber. An optical fiber having a predetermined length is attached to the ferrule of the ferrule-with-optical-fibers, for which end face polishing processing is carried out. The connector parts include a plurality of connector parts into which another optical fiber is inserted when the rear end of the optical fiber of the ferrule-with-optical-fiber and the tip end of another optical fiber are fusion-spliced. In the accommodating housing, the connector parts are arranged in a line in the order of insertion of another optical fiber.

The present invention provides a compact fusion welding apparatus for optical fibers which has simple construction and which can stabilize discharges of discharge electrodes. Tip ends of a pair of the discharge electrodes (discharge forming ends) ( ) are arranged so as to oppose each other via a space. Between tip ends of the discharge electrodes ( ), connection end faces of a pair of optical fibers ( ) are arranged so that the connection end faces thereof are opposed to each other and the connection end faces of the optical fibers ( ) are fusion welded by discharge heat from the discharge electrodes ( ). A ship type floating oil production system for access to subsea wells through installation of surface wellheads on a ship type surface vessel on the sea comprises a cylindrical turret moored to a seabed is located within a moon pool formed in the ship type surface vessel such that the ship type surface vessel is freely rotatable about the cylindrical turret. A plurality of riser pipes have a rigid structure and extend downward to subsea wells through the cylindrical turret, and each riser pipe is provided at its top portion with a surface wellhead including valves of the riser pipe. Accordingly, workover operations can be facilitated as needed by running workover tools through the surface wellhead of the corresponding riser pipe through use of a work-over-rig installed on the ship type surface vessel.
