An image recording apparatus, having a recording head and a pair of transport rollers in front of the recording head and another pair of transport rollers behind the recording head, with a larger transport speed for a recording sheet in the latter pair for applying a suitable tension on the recording sheet, is capable of detecting the remaining amount of the sheet in front of the first pair and varying the transport speed and/or the recording area of the recording head after the rear end of the sheet leaves the first paired roller. Consequently, a potential error in record position, resulting from sheet advancement by the second paired rollers only, can be compensated. In this manner the area of precise image recording on the sheet can be expanded.

An image forming apparatus has a fixing unit for fixing a toner image while transporting a sheet at a first transporting speed or a second transporting speed which is slower than the first transporting speed; an ejecting device for ejecting from the apparatus the sheet on which fixing has been performed by the fixing unit; and a holder for holding the sheet between the fixing unit and the ejecting device so that sheets subjected to fixing at the second transporting speed can reach the ejecting device after passing the fixing device. Image forming apparatus with improved transport

An apparatus for forming images that records images on a recording material by use of recording means includes an upper frame and a lower frame. The upper frame is installed to be opened and closed with respect to the lower frame by means of a rotational center in the direction along the feeding direction of the recording material. The lower frame is provided with a recording material carrying mechanism and means for installing the recording means. Then, it is arranged to suspend the recording means in a location on the rotational center side out of the recording material carrying area of the apparatus main body when the upper frame is opened or closed with respect to the lower frame. In this way, when a recording material is jammed in the interior of the apparatus main body, it is easy for the operator to carry out jamming disposal without touching recording means with his hand. Hence, there is no possibility to get the adjusted position of recording means out of order.

An ink jet recording apparatus comprises a mounting portion on which an ink jet cartridge is detachably mounted, the cartridge having a connector and a recording head portion for discharging ink to perform image recording. The present invention relates to a process cartridge removably mountable on an image forming apparatus comprising a support, a rotary member having an image bearing surface and rotatably supported by the support, and a rotatable developing roller supported by the support, for carrying developer thereon and supplying the developer to the image bearing surface to develop a latent image formed on the image bearing surface.
