An object is to provide a recorded article or sticker whereby counterfeited articles and genuine articles can be visually distinguished in simple fashion in the market and wherein it is not possible to identify in the market the location and type of the anti-counterfeiting measures that have been taken. Both an overt region(which can be recognized visually in the market) are printing using a color-change ink or liquid-crystal ink, for example, and a covert regionformed by for example optical retro-reflective printing (which cannot be recognized without using a special tool) are provided on the surface of the same recording medium. The overt regionand the covert regionmay be arranged at different locations or may overlap, or may be positionally aligned. The overt letter/design pattern and the covert letter/design pattern may be the same or different. An overt recording that is printed using liquid-crystal ink may also function as a covert recording by employing a genuineness inspection method using a circularly polarized plate. A sticker may be provided with one or a plurality of cuts such that the sticker is broken when peeled off, so that it cannot be re-used.

Disclosed are an ink composition which can satisfy, on a high level, various property requirements for ink compositions for use in ink jet recording (e.g., excellent ejection stability and realization of images free from feathering or color-to-color bleeding) and can realize good images by sublimation transfer. A sublimation transfer ink jet recording method using the ink composition is also disclosed. The ink composition comprises a heat transferable dye, a glycol ether, an acetylene glycol surfactant, and water. This ink composition is printed by ink jet recording onto an intermediate transfer medium to form a latent image on the intermediate transfer medium, and the intermediate transfer medium is then put on the surface of a receptor object, followed by heating of the intermediate transfer medium at a sufficient temperature and for a sufficient time to sublimate the heat transferable dye and to deposit the sublimated dye onto the surface of the receptor object. This recording method can realize good transferred images suffering from minimized bleeding.

An ink jet recording method which can realize a sharp image and ink dots having excellent circularity is disclosed. The ink jet recording method comprises the step of ejecting ink droplets of an ink composition onto a recording medium to form an ink image on the recording medium, the ink composition having a contact angle with a sized recording paper of 0.degree., as measured one sec after the initiation of contact of the ink composition with the sized recording paper, and containing not less than 60% by weight of water, the recording medium having an ink-repellent layer comprising a water-soluble silicone compound and/or a water-soluble fluorine compound.

An ink container contains main tanks into which ink can be poured from the outside and the ink in the main tanks is supplied to recording heads via deaerators incorporating hollow fibers to which negative pressure is applied from the outside. The ink in the ink tanks is deaerated by the deaerators before an ink-end condition is brought on and then supplied to the recording heads.

An ink jet recording medium is disclosed, comprising a base having provided on one side thereof a recording layer having an ink receiving layer whose surface is smoother than plain paper's and on the other side thereof a coating layer comprising an aqueous binder containing 10 to 40% by weight of a higher fatty acid salt to a coating weight of 0.1 to 0.3 g/m.sup.2. An ink jet recording medium is also disclosed, comprising a base having provided on only one side thereof a recording layer, said recording layer having a coefficient of dynamic friction of 0.65 to 0.75 in mutual friction, the back surface of said base having a coefficient of dynamic friction of 0.15 to 0.25 in mutual friction, and the coefficient of static friction between said recording layer and said back surface is 0.55 to 0.65. The ink jet recording medium is prevented from being double-fed and can be transferred at improved precision, thereby providing high quality images. The ink jet recording layer is freed from feed trouble and can be transferred at improved precision, thereby providing images of high resolving power.

An ink jet recording method which can simply realize a plurality of resolutions in a single printer without varying the amount of ink per droplet is disclosed. An ink jet recording method comprises the steps of: selecting a recording medium; changing an image resolution depending on the selected recording medium; and ejecting ink droplets onto the recording medium to form ink dots thereon, wherein the amount of ink of the droplet is constant when the resolution is changed, and wherein the image resolution is changed so that ink penetrability or ink repellency of the recording medium makes the diameters of the ink dots on the recording medium fall in the range of from 100 to 160% of diagonal dot pitch of the resolution.

A disazo dye composition comprising at least a disazo dye represented by the formula (I) and a disazo dye represented by the formula (II): ##STR1## (wherein X and Y indicate an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and M indicates hydrogen or a cation selected from the group consisting of, alkaline metal, NH.sub.4, alkyl-substituted ammonium, alkanolammonium, morpholinium and piperidinium), wherein, when the disazo dye composition is analyzed by liquid chromatography, the area ratio of the peak area (Sp) of the disazo dye represented by the formula (I) to the peak area (Sc) of the disazo dye represented by the formula (II), that is Sp:Sc is from 1:0.4 to 1:2.4. This disazo dye composition provides a high quality image, rapid ink fixing and the like even on the plain paper.

An ink jet recording method includes the steps of: (a) holding a sheet-like recording medium having a glossy surface in which the 60-degree mirror glossiness defined in JIS Z8741 is 60% or more between a driving roller disposed on a back surface side of the sheet-like recording medium and a notched roller having a thickness in a range of 0.05 to 0.5 mm, and pressing the glossy surface with a pressing force in a range of 5 to 30 g against the driving roller; (b) carrying the sheet-like recording medium; and (c) ejecting ink onto the glossy surface so that an image is recorded by dots of the ink on the glossy surface.
