To provide a low-viscosity water-in-oil emulsion sunscreen cosmetic composition which is extremely excellent in UV protective enhancing effect (as the protective boosting effect of the UV absorption capability thereof) over a broad UV radiation region and has superior feeling in use (smooth feeling, dry feeling, and non-sticky feeling, etc.). The present invention provides a dispersion of microparticulate titanium oxide that can generate a natural finish feeling, which includes a feeling of transparency, and has good long-term stability and an excellent UV protective effect in both UVA and UVB regions. The present invention is a dispersion of microparticulate titanium oxide characterized in that the microparticulate titanium oxide with the average major axis of 30 to 100 nm and the average minor axis of 8 to 50 nm is dispersed, by maintaining the average size of dispersed particles to be 80 to 110 nm, in a hydrophobic dispersion medium. In the dispersion of microparticulate titanium oxide, the content of silicone oil relative to the total hydrophobic dispersion medium is preferably 10 to 100 weight %. Furthermore, it is preferable that the dispersion of microparticulate titanium oxide contains a biterminally-siliconized polyglycerin as a dispersant. The dispersion of microparticulate titanium oxide can be preferably contained in a cosmetic.

The present invention provides a cosmetic that contains glycerin modified on both ends with silicone represented by the following general formula (a).  In this formula, R1 denotes a straight chain or branched alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms or phenyl group, R2 denotes an alkylene group having 2-11 carbon atoms, m is 10-120, and n is 1-11. The object of the present invention is to provide a cosmetic that contains glycerin modified on both ends with silicone and is superior in terms of the sensation during use and the powder dispersion stability.

In order to accomplish the objective described above, a method for producing cosmetic products according to the invention comprises a use of a media-agitating mill to disperse powder components and oil components or aqueous components. A method for producing cosmetic products according to the invention is applied to powdery cosmetic products, oily cosmetic products, emulsified cosmetic products and lipsticks. A method for producing cosmetic products involving a step for imparting a particle with hydrophobicity using a media-agitating mill is also provided. Furthermore, a method for producing cosmetic products using hydrophobicity-imparted powdery dispersion containing organically-denatured clay mineral is provided.

The clathrate exhibits an emulsifying effect in itself. Further, the hydrous compositions are excellent in water-holding capacity and are improved in hydration properties and separation stability at a high temperature.
