The present invention intends to provide an air bag door construction in which the air bag develops smoothly and securely, the skin can be easily produced with small man-hour, and which is excellent in the surface appearance. The skinis formed by a moldincluding an endless and annular wallprovided at a part of a molding surface to be inclined relative to the molding surface. A groove portionof the skinformed by the wallis cut at a bottom portion thereof to separate the skininto a general portionand a door portion. The general portionand the door portionare relatively shifted to make both surfaces thereof flush with each other. When the surfaces of the general portionand the door portionare flush by the relative shift, gap between the general portionand the door portioncan be narrowed, and gap appeared on the surface can also be narrowed. Also, when the skin is disposed in the mold for foam forming, the skin can position the general portionand the door portionin the desired position easily, and will not scatter a skin chip in the development of the air bag.

An automobile interior member which is represented by an instrument panel and to which an air bag device is to be assembled, is constituted by a main body portion and an air bag cover portion, the main body portion and the air bag cover portion being formed in a manner so that the main body portion is primarily molded (injection-molded) out of first thermoplastic resin material, and the air bag cover portion is secondarily molded (injection-molded) so as to be lapped with the main body portion on the back surface side. The second thermoplastic resin is oriented in a direction along a tear line (edges of rotational lid portions) of the lid portions (door portions) in the air bag cover portion so that the air bag cover portion is secondarily molded.

An air bag cover having a surface sheet including a thermoplastic elastomer decorative layer on the surface side. The breaking elongation and break strength of the thermoplastic elastomer decorative layer is adjusted utilizing a filler powder. Thereby, the breaking rapidity at a tear line groove formation position is improved.

Air bag cover

An air bag door construction in which the air bag develops smoothly and securely, the skin can be easily produced. The skin is formed by a mold including an endless and annular wall provided on a molding surface to be inclined relative to the molding surface. A groove portion of the skin formed by the wall is cut at a bottom portion to separate the skin into a general portion and a door portion which are made flush with each other. When the surfaces of the general portion and the door portion are flush the gap between the general portion and the door portion can be narrowed, and gap on the surface is narrowed. When the skin is disposed in the mold for foam forming, the skin can position the general portion and the door portion in the desired position easily, and will not scatter a skin chip in the development of the air bag.

Manufacturing method of skin for air bag door

An instrument panel is formed so that a facing layer constituted by three layers consisting of a skin layer, a foam layer and a barrier layer is disposed on the front surface side of a base and a rupture presumptive portion is disposed in a region for covering a folded air bag so that the rupture presumptive portion is opened so as to enable the air bag to protrude when the air bag is unfolded and inflated. The rupture presumptive portion is formed so that cutdown portions are formed so as to extend from the back surface side of the base to the barrier layer along the rupture presumptive portion. A large number of holes are provided at least in the skin layer so as to cover only the rupture presumptive portion and its vicinity.

The object of the invention is to provide a method for molding a resin-molded article having an excellent surface appearance without any resin-intrusion part on the front surface of a skin thereof. In the invention, the skin is placed on a part of a inner wall of a mold and then injecting a synthetic resin into a cavity of the mold to effect an integral molding of a resin-molded article having the skin on a part thereof, wherein a mold having a first gate on a first inner wall part located on the part other than the back surface of the skin placed on the inner wall of said mold and a second gate on a second inner wall part which faces the back surface of the skin placed on the inner wall is employed; and wherein the synthetic resin is first injected from said first gate until the tip portion of the synthetic resin comes close to the edge of said skin, and then the synthetic resin is injected from the second gate.

An untrasonic machining method which comprises applying an electric current across a workpiece and a tool subject to ultrasonic vibration and ultrasonically vibrating the tool, while supplying an electrolyte to the gap between the workpiece and the tool, said workpiece and tool being positioned a certain distance apart, said electrolyte containing spherical soft abrasive grains suspending therein, said ultrasonic vibration actuating said abrasive grains so that they remove the film formed on the work surface of the workpiece by electrolysis, with the removed film being discharged from said gap during machining. Alternatively, the electrolyte and abrasive grains are supplied separately and mixed in the gap.

Ultrasonic machining method

This invention relates to a die casting machine in which high pressure is applied to molten metal to inject and fill the molten metal all over the mold before the molten metal is solidified to continuously mold molded articles (products), which have a beautiful casting surface and a high dimensional precision, every cycle of the machine. One or both of a fixed mold or a movable mold, which serves as a molding mold, and a core incorporated into one or both the molds are formed of high strength ceramics, and in addition, a movable hob for pressurizing molten metal injected and filled into both the fixed and movable molds is formed of high strength ceramics thereby providing a mold construction which is excellent in mechanical characteristics such as strength, hardness, breaking toughness and the like and having durability and pressure resistance enough to withstand high temperature thermal shock and high pressure, and being capable of easily controlling the temperature distribution within the mold. Furthermore, an injection sleeve for injecting and filling molten metal into the mold and a piston slidably inserted therein are formed of high strength ceramics to thereby eliminating a difference in temperature dropping speed between the surface portion of molten metal supplied into the injection sleeve and the center portion.

This invention concerns an improvement in a molding die for use in casting in which a metal article is molded by charging a molten metal to the inside of a molding die comprising paired male and female dies, and then cooling the temperature of the molten metal to a solidification region and a solidification range where the solid phase and the liquid phase are present together, wherein one or both of paired male and female dies constituting the molding die equipped retractably with a pressurizing insert for applying the pressure to the molten metal charged to the molding die is made of ceramics thereby obtaining a molding die that can facilitate the control for the temperature distribution over the entire molding die, particularly, within the molding die upon cooling to solidify the molten metal, as well as having sufficient strength such as thermal shock resistance, shock resistance and durability enabling to mold a high temperature metal article by solidifying the high temperature molten metal of about 600.degree. to 1650.degree. C. while applying a pressure.

The present invention relates to an improvement of an injection apparatus in a die casting machine of a horizontal injection type in which molten metal is poured into an injection sleeve mounted and held in a horizontal state with a fore end opening connected to an inlet of a die, and the poured molten metal is injected into the die by a piston motion of a plunger of an injection cylinder. A storage vessel capable of being sealed hermetically is attached to a pouring port formed in the injection sleeve and molten metal in a heat retaining furnace is supplied to the storage vessel periodically through a feed pipe, whereby the pouring into the injection sleeve is quickened to thereby increase the number of shots per hour despite the die casting machine having the injection apparatus of a horizontal injection type.

This invention relates to improvements on an injection device in a hot chamber type die casting machine in which molten metal reserved in a heat retaining furnace or the like is injected into a mold according to a hot pressurizing chamber system. A goose neck formed of ceramics is provided in a heat retaining pot formed of ceramics for reserving molten metal such that the bottom of the goose neck is attached fixedly to the inside surface of bottom of the heat retaining pot, and by additionally providing a heat retaining material incorporating a heating wire and formed of ceramics on the outer surface of bottom and the outer peripheral surface of the heat retaining pot is firmly fixed the goose neck in the heat retaining pot while shock load forces applied to the bottom of the goose neck are transmitted to the bottom of heat retaining pot and absorbed and reduced by the bottom and further the heat retaining pot is effectively reinforced by the heat retaining material.

C. includes a pair of male and female molds provided with a core part or liner part, one or both of the male and female molds formed of a ceramic, gases generated within a cavity in the solidification process of the molten metal are sucked out through the vent formed by incorporating a heat resistant, porous, gas-permeable material in which inserted detachably into the vent port of the gas vent passed through outward from the predetermined part of the cavity surfaces on the both molds of the core part and the liner part is drawn outward by a minute amount at a predetermined timing from the start of the pressurization of the interior of the mold cavity so that internal gases generated at a predetermined part of the interior of the mold cavity (at a thicker part where solidification occurs later than at other parts) are effectively discharged into the well in the auxiliary vent by the time the molten metal at the predetermined part is solidified, whereby even an article having a thicker part is molded without leaving gases in the thicker part.
