According to one embodiment, a method of manufacturing a display device, includes preparing a first substrate in which a first display element part, a first extension part, a second display element part, and a second extension part, are formed, preparing a second substrate in which a first peeling auxiliary layer, a second peeling auxiliary layer, a sacrifice layer, a first color filter layer, and a second color filter layer, are formed, attaching the first substrate and the second substrate, and radiating a laser beam on the second substrate, and peeling a second support substrate from the first peeling auxiliary layer and the second peeling auxiliary layer while blocking the laser beam by the sacrifice layer.

According to one embodiment, a liquid display device includes a liquid crystal display panel provided with pixel which includes pixel electrode, and has gradation values that vary, a driver which drives the pixel electrode, and a processor which supplies, if the gradation value of the pixel varies, the driver with a correction image signal based on an addition image signal in which a voltage based on the gradation value and a compensation voltage are added. The compensation voltage is based on pixel capacitances prior to and subsequent to variation of the gradation value and a voltage subsequent to the variation of the gradation value.

Electrode slit portions are formed in a pixel electrode in a direction of crossing a slit for dividing a liquid crystal layer into a plurality of domains. A titanium oxide film is formed so as to be exposed to the liquid crystal layer side via the electrode slit portions, the titanium oxide film having a relative dielectric constant higher than that of an organic film formed at positions corresponding to the electrode slit portions. By the titanium oxide film, an electric field of each domain is set, angles between the director in the vicinity of the electrode slit portion and transmission axes of polarizing plates are made to approximately 45&#xb0;, and a decrease in transmittance caused by the falling direction of the director can be suppressed. The transmittance and contrast ratio are secured, and simultaneously an excellent wide viewing angle range can be obtained.

A liquid crystal display device includes an array substrate and a counter-substrate, a liquid crystal layer which is held between the array substrate and counter-substrate and includes a transmissive display part and a reflective display part which neighbor each other via a boundary, an alignment state of liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer being controlled by an application voltage from the array substrate and counter-substrate in the transmissive display part and the reflective display part, and control means for making an alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules, which are present near the boundary in the reflective display part, substantially match an alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules which are present near the boundary in the transmissive display part.

A liquid crystal display device comprises a first substrate including a first insulation substrate, and rectangular pixel electrodes provided in a matrix on the first insulation substrate and elongated in a first direction, a second substrate opposing the first substrate, and including a second insulation substrate, a counter electrode on the second insulation substrate, and projections on the counter electrode, elongated in a second direction intersecting the first direction, and a liquid crystal layer held between the first and second substrates. A method of manufacturing a display device includes a cell forming step of forming a predetermined number of cells on a mother substrate, a first polishing step of chemically polishing an outer surface of the mother substrate with use of a predetermined polishing solution, a dividing step of dividing the chemically polished mother substrate so as to include a number of cells, which is less than the predetermined number, and a second polishing step of mechanically polishing the outer surface of the divided mother substrate with use of a solid polishing agent.

A liquid crystal display device includes an array substrate having a pixel electrode formed of a conductor, a counter substrate having a counter electrode facing the pixel electrode, and a liquid crystal layer held between the substrates and containing liquid crystal molecules set in a vertical alignment with respect to the substrates. The pixel electrode had a void space located in the conductor to provide minute domains between which different directors of the liquid crystal molecules are obtained when a potential difference is applied between the array and counter electrodes, and a bridge-wiring member interconnecting adjacent parts of the conductor in the void space, and the bride-wiring member is configured to make an electric field created in a part of the pixel area located on the bridge-wiring member weaker than that created in the minutes domains according to the potential difference.
