A heater of the disclosure includes: a rod-like ceramic body; a heat-generating resistor including an embedded portion embedded in the ceramic body and an exposed portion drawn out to an outer periphery face of the ceramic body; a metallic member electrically connected to the heat-generating resistor; and a conductive joining member including titanium, the conductive joining member being configured to join the exposed portion and the metallic member together. The conductive joining member includes a first portion in layer form, in which titanium exists in segregation condition, located along an interface with the exposed portion; and at least one second portion in granular form, in which titanium exists in segregation condition, located away from the first portion.

A ceramic heater of the invention includes a ceramic structure; a heat-generating resistor embedded in the ceramic structure; and a feeder line embedded in the ceramic structure so as to be connected, at one end thereof, to the heat-generating resistor. The feeder line is made of metal, and metal grains of a center region of the feeder line are greater in grain size than metal grains of an outer periphery region of the feeder line. Even if a crack developed in the outer periphery region of the feeder line propagates through grain boundaries in the outer periphery region and comes near the center region, propagation of the crack through the interior of the center region can be suppressed.

A heater includes a heating element, a pair of lead wires each connected to an end of the heating element, and an insulating base body in which the heating element and the pair of lead wires are embedded. The insulating base body contains a plurality of metal particles around the heating element, the metal particles being separated from the heating element. The plurality of metal particles and the heating element comprise an elliptical cross-section comprising a same major axis direction. With such a structure, when the heater is rapidly cooled to cause a crack on the surface of the insulating base body, the crack develops along the major axis direction of the metal particles and therefore rarely reaches the heating element. According to this invention, a gene cluster involved in the non-mevalonate pathway ofwas obtained and nucleotide sequences of these genes were determined. The gene cluster according to this invention involved in the IPP biosynthesis in the non-mevalonate pathway is involved in the biosynthesis of vitamin E and carotenoids. Therefore, theobtained by introducing the gene cluster of the present invention can be expected to produce high-quality rubber with improved permanence.

According to the present invention, a gene cluster encoding various kinds of prenyl transferase ofis obtained, and the nucleotide sequences of these genes are determined. The prenyl transferases are involved in the biosynthesis of isoprene backbone of natural rubber. Therefore, improvement of productivity of rubber can be expected, by transforming plants by the gene cluster obtained in the present invention.

It is a subject of this invention to isolate a gene group of enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of vitamin E of Para rubber tree, and to determine the base sequence of each gene. According to this invention, genes encoding enzymes involved in the vitamin E biosynthesis were isolated from Para rubber tree and the base sequences of these genes were determined. Since vitamin E is an antioxidant existing in nature, it is expected that transformation of a plant by using the genes obtained in the invention would result in an increase in the vitamin E content of the plant and, in its turn, contribute to the prevention of rubber from aging.

Provided is an eucommia-derived biopolymer, which is obtained by biologically decaying an eucommia to obtain an eucommia decomposition product, and washing the eucommia decomposition product.
