A honeycomb structure body has a plurality of hexagonal cells of a hexagonal shape formed in a lattice arrangement. Each hexagonal cell is surrounded by its hexagonal cell wall composed of six sides. On a cross-sectional surface along the axis direction of the ceramic honeycomb structure body, each side in the six sides forming the hexagonal cell wall surrounding the corresponding hexagonal cell is a concave shape toward either the inside of or the outside of the hexagonal cell. In particular, it is preferred that continuous three sides in each hexagonal cell wall has a concave shape that is concave toward either the inside or the outside of the hexagonal cell, and the remaining continuous three sides in the cell wall has a concave shape that is concave toward the opposite direction to the direction of the concave shape formed by the above continuous three sides.

A laminate-type piezoelectric element has a ceramic laminated body obtained by alternately laminating piezoelectric layers made of a piezoelectric material and inner electrode layers having electrical conductivity. Outer electrodes are joined to side surfaces of the ceramic laminated body via an electrically conductive adhesive. The electrically conductive adhesive has buried therein mesh bodies obtained by forming a mesh by using a nonmetallic material. The mesh bodies are desirably constituted by using any one of a resin, ceramic, carbon or glass.

Method of manufacturing a lamination-type piezoelectric element

This invention provides a stacked ceramic body in which de-lamination (inter-layer peeling) does not easily occur, and a production method thereof. In the invention, a predetermined number of unit layers and each including a ceramic layer , an internal electrode layer , a spacer having substantially the same thickness as the internal electrode layer and adhesive layers stacked on the surface of the internal electrode layer and on the surface of the adhesive layer are stacked. A print portion for the internal electrode layer and a print portion for the spacer are formed on a green sheet for the ceramic layer , and print portions for the adhesive layer are formed on both of them to give an unsintered unit. The unsintered units are stacked to give an unsintered stacked body, are press-bonded and are then sintered.
