An &#x3b1;-olefin polymerization catalyst comprising (A) a solid catalyst component containing a titanium compound obtained by treating a solid product having a titanium content of 1.5% by weight or less obtained by reducing Ti(OR)X(Rrepresents a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, X represents a halogen atom and a represents a number satisfying 0&#x3c;a&#x2266;4.) with an organomagnesium compound in the presence of an organosilicon compound having an Si&#x2014;O bond and an ester compound, with an ester compound, and treating the ester-treated solid with a mixture of an ether compound and titanium tetrachloride or a mixture of an ether compound, titanium tetrachloride and an ester compound, (B) an organoaluminum compound and (C) an electron donative compound, and a process for producing an &#x3b1;-olefin polymer with said &#x3b1;-olefin polymerization catalyst.

The modified diene polymers can be incorporated with usual rubber additives and with or without other rubbers to provide rubber compositions for various purposes, and the cured products show an increased impact resilience and a reduced hardness at low temperatures.
