A power supply circuit for plasma generation by which a large quantity of generated plasma can be smoothly obtained without increasing the sizes of an apparatus. An electric discharge generating electrode is composed of two or more first electrodes and one or more second electrodes. An LC series circuit is provided by connecting a capacitor C and a coil L in series between one of outputs of an alternating high voltage generating circuit which generates an alternating high voltage to be applied between the electrodes of electric discharge generating electrode, and the first electrode. When electricity is discharged in one of the electrode pair, voltage drop is suppressed by the coil, and since electric discharge from the other electrode pair is induced without being disturbed, a large quantity of plasma can be smoothly generated by common use of the alternating high voltage generating circuit.

The main object of the present invention is to manufacture, on an industrial scale, metal nanoparticles with excellent dispersion stability, and therefore provides metal nanoparticles containing a metal component, further containing at least one of phosphorus, nitrogen, and oxygen, and the average particle size being from 1 to 100 nm.

The present invention realizes a nanotube probe with high durability that can be manufactured in short time with less impurities adhered to the holder sustaining the nanotube. The nanotube probe according to this invention is constructed by fastening a nanotubeon the protruded portionof a cantilever by way of at least two partial coating filmsand. One or more additional partial coating films may be formed in the intermediate area between these two partial coating films. Each partial coating film is formed by irradiating electron beamon the position where the nanotubeis in contact with the protruded portionof the cantilever. The partial coating films are separated not to overlap each other. By minimizing the size of partial coating film as well as by narrowing down the beam diameter, coating time may be further shortened. With the beam diameter narrowed down, excessive deposit of impurities can be put under control.

Nanotube probe and a method for manufacturing the same

A catalyst for manufacturing carbon substances, such as carbon nanotube that has a diameter of 1000 nm or less, the catalyst containing at least iron, cobalt or nickel of a first element group and tin or indium of a second element group. The catalyst can be formed by at least tin and indium in addition to cobalt or nickel. The former catalyst provides a 2-component type catalyst and a multi-component type catalyst that is composed on the basis of the 2-component type catalyst, and the later catalyst provides a 3-component type catalyst and a multi-component type catalyst that is composed on the basis of the 3-component type catalyst.

Catalysts for manufacturing carbon substances

A scanning microscope probe in which a palladium covering film is formed on the surface of the protruding portion of a cantilever, and the base end portion of a nanotube is disposed in contact with the palladium covering film with the tip end portion of the nanotube protruding to the outside, thus allowing the tip end to be used as a probe needle end for detecting signals. A coating film is formed to cover all or part of the surface of this base end portion, and the nanotube is thus firmly fastened to the cantilever. Since the base end portion adheres tightly to the palladium covering film, both of them are electrically continuous. This palladium covering film allows, as an electrode film, the application of a voltage to the nanotube or the passage of an electric current through the nanotube, showing also good adhesion to the nanotube and cantilever.

A nanotube probe assembled under real-time observation inside an electron microscope, the probe including a nanotube; a holder for holding the nanotube; and a fastening means for fastening the nanotube at a base end portion thereof to the holder; and the tip end portion of the nanotube protrudes from the holder. The method for manufacturing a nanotube probe includes the steps of setting up a nanotube and a holder inside an electron microscope; allowing a base end portion of the nanotube, with a tip end portion thereof protruding, to come into contact with the holder; and irradiating electron beam to the base end portion of the nanotube to form a carbon film at the base end portion of the nanotube, or forming a fused part at the base end portion of the nanotube, thus fastening the base end portion of the nanotube to the holder by the carbon film.

A heat plate for fixation includes: a metallic base plate; and a heating resistor arranged on a reverse face of the metallic base plate, the heating resistor being formed by laminating, at least, an electric insulating layer and heating resistor layer in this order on the metallic base plate, wherein the heat plate is capable of raising the temperature of the metallic base plate to a fixing temperature when the heating resistor layer is energized and heated. A semicircular heating member for fixation includes the heat plate which is curved so that the metallic base plate has a convex surface, a belt type fixing device is provided with the semicircular heating member, and an electrophotographic image forming apparatus is provided with the belt type fixing device having the semicircular heating member.

A heat emitting probe including a conductive nanotube probe needle with its base end fastened to a holder and its tip end protruded, a heat emitting body formed on the probe needle, a conductive nanotube lead wire fastened to the heat emitting body, and an electric current supply that causes an electric current to pass through the conductive nanotube lead wire and both ends of the probe needle. The tip end of the probe needle is thus heated by an electric current flowing through the heat emitting body. A heat emitting probe apparatus includes the above-described heat emitting probe, a scanning mechanism that allows the heat emitting probe to scan over a thermal recording medium, and a control circuit that causes the tip end of the probe needle to emit heat, thus recording extremely small hole patterns in the surface of a thermal recording medium.

The operation method of nanotweezers including the steps of: confirming the position of a nanoscale material by way of imaging the surface of a specimen by a scanning type probe microscope; moving the nanotweezers to the position over the nanoscale material; descending the nanotweezers which are in an opened state and then closing the nanotweezers so as to hold the nanoscale material; raising the nanotweezers that hold the nanoscale material and then moving the nanotweezers to an objective position; and descending the nanotweezers that hold the nanoscale material and then opening the nanotweezers, thus releasing the nanoscale material on the objective position which is on the surface of the specimen and is where a nanoscale construction is constructed.

The coated nanotube surface signal probe constructed from a nanotube, a holder which holds the nanotube, a coating film fastening a base end portion of the nanotube to a surface of the holder by way of adhering the base end portion on the surface of holder in a range of a base end portion length with an electric contact state and covering a specified region including the base end portion with the coating film maintaining the electric contact state between the nanotube and the holder, a tip end portion of the nanotube being caused to protrude from the holder; and the tip end portion is used as a probe needle so as to scan surface signals. The coated nanotube surface signal probe can be used as a probe in AFM (Atomic Force Microscope), STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscope) other SPM (Scanning Probe Microscope).

Various high quality microwave dielectric composite compositions are prepared by replacing a part of Ba, La or Ti with another element in a dielectric material represented by BaLaTiO. A first embodiment thereof comprises a ceramic composition represented by (BaA)LaTiO, wherein A is an alkaline earth metal element except Ba, and 0.5&#x3c;n&#x3c;5 and 0&#x3c;x&#x3c;0.5, which is a composite composition being homologous as the former dielectric material and having a chemical formula obtained by replacing a part of Ba with an alkaline earth metal element except Ba. Similarly, a part of La and a part of Ti can be replaced with a rare earth element except La and an element except Ti, respectively. The above various microwave dielectric composite compositions can be used for adjusting microwave dielectric characteristics of a material through replacing a part of a constituent element with another element and thus increasing the variety of the material for a dielectric resonator.

A method for manufacturing carbon nanocoils that uses a reactor, including the steps of: heating an interior of the reactor, causing a hydrocarbon gas to flow in the reactor, dispersing an indium/tin/iron-based catalyst in a form of particles in the hydrocarbon gas, and allowing carbon nanocoils to grow on a surface of the catalyst while decomposing the hydrocarbon near the catalyst. The method can be comprised of the steps of: disposing a rotor inside a reactor, heating an area near the peripheral surface of the rotor, causing a hydrocarbon gas to flow in the reactor, coating a part of the peripheral surface of the rotor with an indium/tin/iron-based catalyst that is in a form of particles, allowing carbon nanocoils to grow on a surface of the catalyst coated on the rotating rotor, and collecting carbon nanocoils, which are grown during a rotation of the rotor, from the rotor.

By using a novel method, the exposure time of the photosensitive paste layer is reduced and the exposure fineness of the layer is improved, thereby developing a highly fine circuit substrate of high density having a thermal resistance at a reasonable cost. A circuit substrate is manufactured as follows. A photosensitive paste containing photoresist and a circuit material is applied onto a substrate surface so as to form a photosensitive paste layer (). This photosensitive paste layer () is plotted by a laser beam () so as to form a plotted area (). The photosensitive paste layer () is developed and an exposed area () or an unexposed area () is removed so as to form a circuit pattern (). This circuit pattern () is sintered to form a circuit pattern () composed of the circuit material. It is possible to form a highly fine circuit pattern of high density by laser beam plotting. Moreover, when a greensheet () is used as the substrate, it is possible to form a ceramic substrate () having a thermal resistance by sintering. Furthermore, by using this method, it is possible to form an arbitrary image on an arbitrary object.

Diode-type nanotweezers including a first arm and a second arm that project from a holder and are opened and closed by an electrostatic force so as to hold a nanosubstance. The first arm is formed by a gate nanotube fastened at its base end to the holder, and its tip end protrudes from the holder. The second arm is formed by a nanotube diode fastened at its two base ends to the holder and have a diode characteristic portion at its tip end. Diode current and diode voltage applied between the base ends of the arms shows a non-linear diode characteristic such as varistor and rectification. When a gate voltage is applied between the gate nanotube and the nanotube diode, the arms are controlled and a grip strength for a nanosubstance held by the arms is detected by changes in the gate voltage or the diode current.
