An imprinting method in which a pattern of an imprint material can be formed on a substrate while damage of a concave and convex pattern of a mold due to foreign particle is more reliably prevented is provided. An imprinting method of forming the pattern of the imprint material on the substrate using the mold includes: a supply step of supplying the imprint material on the substrate; a pattern forming step of forming the pattern of the imprint material by bringing an imprint material in a predetermined shot region on the substrate into contact with a concave and convex pattern of the mold after supplying the imprint material; and a foreign particle pressing step of pressing the foreign particle using a pressing surface of a pressing unit facing a surface of the substrate if the foreign particle is present on the surface of the substrate in a predetermined shot region, wherein the foreign particle pressing step is performed before the pattern forming step, and in the foreign particle pressing step, the foreign particle is pressed so that an amount of protrusion is smaller than a film thickness of the imprint material after the pattern forming step.

In an imprinting method for transferring a pattern of a mold to a resin coated on a substrate by using an imprinting apparatus including a mold holding unit and a resin coating unit, the resin is coated in n shot areas arranged in a direction parallel to a direction in which the holding unit and the coating unit are arranged where n is an integer equal to or greater than 2, and the pattern is transferred to the shot areas on a one-by-one basis. A distance D between the coating unit and the mold and a width W of each shot area as seen in the direction parallel to the direction in which the holding unit and the coating unit are arranged are selected so as to satisfy a condition D&#x3e;(3/2&#x2212;1/n)W, and the coating and the transferring are performed repeatedly on the substrate.

The pixel data constituting the pixel data block is coded using the dynamic range information data to form a plurality of coded data in units of pixel data blocks. The dynamic range information data and the coded data are sent onto a transmission line. These transmitted data are received, and a data portion of the dynamic range information data and the coded data which has an error is interpolated. High-quality image information can be efficiently transmitted.

Accordingly, an information code to be subjected to information expansion and second compression processes for dubbing is limited as small as possible, thereby minimizing information deterioration to be caused by such processes.

A predictive coding system is disclosed wherein an input data sequence sequentially including a number of samples is subjected to time-base expansion by n times, where n is an integer not smaller than 2, using an interval of a predetermined period including a plurality of samples as a unit to form n-channel data sequences, and said n-channel data sequences are input in n predictive coding means in parallel.
