In an outboard engine including a throttle body that feeds combustion air that is taken in from an outside air introduction port, into an engine body, an intake duct that guides the combustion air from the outside air introduction port, and an on-off valve disposed partway in the intake duct, a plurality of paths are provided in the intake duct, a path of the intake duct is made switchable to a long path including a drainage effect to water entering the intake duct and a short path that does not include the drainage effect by the on-off valve, and the long path is selected at a time of an engine being stopped or a time of an operation state where the outboard engine is expected to be covered with water.

Outboard engine

An outboard motor includes an engine cover, a throttle body, and a silencing chamber. The engine cover covers an engine and is provided with a combustion air intake port. The throttle body is connected to the engine and is configured to take in combustion air from the combustion air intake port. The silencing chamber is provided above the engine and is placed in an intake passage that guides the combustion air to the throttle body. At least one of a hole member including a plurality of holes with respective predetermined depths, and a plurality of suction pipes elongated in a front-rear direction of the outboard motor, is disposed in a position communicating with the silencing chamber.

Outboard motor

An intake structure of an outboard motor supplying intake air to an internal combustion engine for the outboard motor has an engine cover covering the internal combustion engine for the outboard motor, an inner cover disposed on an outside of the engine cover, and a top cover covering the inner cover. The inner cover and the top cover form an intake duct supplying intake air to the internal combustion engine for the outboard motor.

[Problem] To perform an assembling operation easily while attaining improvement in engine efficiency. [Solution] An outboard motoraccording to the invention includes an upstream side ductwhich is fixed to an engine upper cover, and a downstream side ductwhich is fixed to an engineside. The upstream side ductincludes an exhaust portwhich is opened at its side face. The downstream side ductincludes a downstream side lower ductand a downstream side upper duct. In the downstream side lower duct, a suction portis provided at a position opposed to the exhaust portand separately at a predetermined distance from the exhaust port. In the downstream side upper duct, an exhaust port formed toward a throttle bodyof the engineis provided above the downstream side lower duct. The upstream side ductand the downstream side ductare formed so as not to interfere with each other when the engine upper coveris moved vertically.

There is provided an intake apparatus of an engine for an outboard motor. An intake manifold, a throttle body and an intake silencer box are arranged at one of right and left sides of an engine block which is configured such that an axial direction of a cylinder coincides with a front and rear direction of the outboard motor. An intake duct communicating with an intake introduction port provided at an upper part of an engine cover is coupled to an upstream end of the intake silencer box. A first water separation part is arranged between the intake introduction port and the intake duct. A second water separation part is provided below a duct part of the intake duct. The second water separation part is formed by providing a drain hole at a bottom part of a resonator chamber part communicating with the duct part to reduce an intake noise.

Intake apparatus of engine for outboard motor

There is provided a toe angle control system for outboard motors. A memory stores therein a toe angle data table in which a running state of a ship and a lifting force generated along with propulsion of a plurality of outboard motors which are mounted on a body of the ship are associated with each other for each toe angle of the outboard motors. A controller is configured to adjust a toe angle of the outboard motors based on the running state of the ship and the toe angle data table. The toe angle data table is adapted to be associated with a plurality of running states of the ship mounted with the outboard motors. The controller selects a toe angle of the outboard motors so as to minimize the lifting force depending on a speed of the ship and trim angles of the outboard motors.

Toe angle control system and toe angle control method for outboard motors

There is provided an electric outboard motor. An upper unit is provided to be rotatable in a horizontal direction about a swivel unit. A lower unit is provided below the upper unit and configured to function as a rudder. The upper unit comprises an electric motor supported by a rear side of the swivel unit via a mount unit. The upper unit or lower unit has a gear deceleration device configured to couple an output shaft of the electric motor and a drive shaft extending in an upward and downward direction to each other. The drive shaft is coupled to the gear deceleration device in front of the output shaft of the electric motor and configured to transmit an output of the electric motor to a propeller provided in the lower unit.

Electric outboard motor

An outboard motor having an outboard motor body generating a thrust by rotating a propeller that is driven by an engine mounted to the outboard motor and an attachment device for attaching the outboard motor body to a hull. The outboard motor includes a mount device having an upper mount and a lower mount arranged between the outboard motor body and the attachment device for attaching the outboard motor body to the hull and supports an upper portion and a lower portion of the outboard motor body, respectively. The mount device also includes an anti-vibration unit and a displacement restriction unit. The lateral displacement restricting mount section and a member opposing the lateral displacement restricting mount section abut against each other with the abutment surfaces inclined with respect to a longitudinal direction of the outboard motor body.

In the process of starting by a recoil starter, a maximum value detection section of an ECM detects a maximum value of pressure (basic atmospheric pressure) in an intake pipe detected by a pressure sensor, within a predetermined range of crank angle after activation of the ECM. An idling control unit gives feedback control on an ISC valve based on engine speed detected by an engine speed sensor, to thereby keep idling engine speed at a specified value. A correction unit corrects a basic atmospheric pressure detected by the maximum value detection section based on the duty ratio of the ISC valve in idling, and uses the result as the atmospheric pressure. A storage unitstores a map in which the duty ratio of the ISC valve in idling is correlated with the amount of correction to be made on the basic atmospheric pressure.

Engine start control system

When an ECM activates as powered from a generator, a decision unit determines occurrence of instantaneous interruption and reactivation of the ECM, if engine speed detected by an engine speed sensor immediately after activation of the ECM is found to be not smaller than a predetermined number of rotation Y. When occurrence of the instantaneous interruption and reactivation is actually determined, the ECM terminates operation of the engine. On the other hand, if occurrence of the instantaneous interruption and reactivation is not determined, the ECM detects, using a maximum value detection unit, a maximum value of pressure in the intake pipe detected by a pressure sensor, within a predetermined range of crank angle after activation of the ECM, stores the maximum value into a memory for later use as the atmospheric pressure, and uses it for control of fuel injection by an injector.
