A four-wheel drive vehicle includes: a drive-power distribution device for distributing a drive power from an engine to main and auxiliary drive wheels with a drive-power distribution ratio between the main drive wheels and auxiliary drive wheels; and a control apparatus for controlling an electric motor such that the drive-power distribution ratio becomes a target distribution ratio value, by setting an electric-current command value for driving an electric motor. The control apparatus is configured, in a drive-power transmitted state in which the drive power is transmitted to the drive-power distribution device, to execute a command-value reduction control operation for causing the electric motor to be driven with the electric-current command value being set to a value smaller than in a drive-power non-transmitted state in which the drive power is not being transmitted to the drive-power distribution device.

A control device for a power transmission device including an automatic transmission and a sub transmission is provided. The control device includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to perform a rotation speed decrease control in which at least one frictional engagement device is controlled to be an engaged state or a semi-engaged state at a time when switching of gear stage of the sub transmission is started or a time when the switching is started. The electronic control unit is configured to end the rotation speed decrease control during switching of the gear stage. The electronic control unit is configured to switch the sub transmission from the power transmission cutoff state to a state in which one of the high-speed engagement element and the low-speed engagement element is engaged, during disengagement of the at least one frictional engagement device.

In a vehicle drive device, a response to a range change request, during which the drive wheels are rotated in a low or high range, can be smoothly and quickly completed without using a synchronous engaging mechanism. When the range change is requested when the drive wheels are rotated in the low range or in the high range, the control devices disengage a clutch sleeve from a currently engaged gear piece so as to establish a neutral range, and control an output rotational speed of the motor generator such that a difference between an input rotational speed and an output rotational speed of the transmission mechanism is set to be zero, or be equal to or less than a predetermined value. After that, the control devices cause a connection processor to slide the clutch sleeve to be connected to a connection target gear piece.
