A display device includes a housing with an opening; an electro-optic layer that includes a transmissive-reflective layer and configured to vary reflectivity of incident light; a display provided on the electro-optic layer; a control circuit that controls an operation of the display device; and an actuator that switches the electro-optic layer between first and second postures, wherein the control circuit: controls an operation of the display, generates a trimmed image matching a shape of the opening or a shape of the display, outputs the trimmed image to the display, controls the reflectivity of the electro-optic layer when the electro-optic layer is in the second posture, and does not control the reflectivity of the electro-optic layer when the electro-optic layer is in the first posture, and the display is visible to a driver through the electro-optic layer when the control circuit controls the display to display the trimmed image.

Display system and display device

A display system includes an image capture device, a display device, and at least one of a first illuminance sensor and a second illuminance sensor. The image capture device captures an image rearward of the vehicle. The display device is coupled to the image capture device, and receives at least a portion of the rearward image captured by the image capture device. The first illuminance sensor detects brightness around the vehicle, and the second illuminance sensor detects intensity of light emitted onto a front surface of the display device.

A wearable terminal includes: a body having a display that performs display, a sensor that detects a first angle of rotation by which the display has been rotated with respect to a first axis as an axis of rotation, and a controller that controls the display according to the first angle of rotation; and a band that is connected to the body and extends around the forearm in an arcuate shape, wherein the first axis is perpendicular to a second axis and is parallel to a direction in which the forearm extends, when the first angle of rotation is within a first angle range, the controller causes a first display image displayed, and when the first angle of rotation changes the first angle range to a second angle range, the controller causes a part of the first display image and a part of a second display image simultaneously displayed.

Wearable terminal and control method

According to one embodiment, a display system includes a display device that displays an image rearward of a vehicle, a first illuminance sensor that detects the brightness around the vehicle, and a second illuminance sensor that detects the intensity of the light emitted onto the front surface of the display device, and the display device includes a housing with an opening on the front side, an electro-optic layer with a transmissive-reflective layer that transmits a portion of incident light and reflects another portion of the incident light, the electro-optic layer being configured to vary the reflectivity of the incident light, a display placed on the rear side of the electro-optic layer and configured to display at least a portion of the rearward image of the vehicle, and a control circuit that controls the brightness of the display based on a value of at least one of first illuminance and second illuminance.

A head-mounted display apparatus worn on the head of a user and a method for controlling the head-mounted display apparatus are disclosed. The head-mounted display apparatus includes a gesture sensor that detects a swipe gesture manipulation that indicates a direction, the swipe gesture manipulation being performed in a manipulation space, a display, a processor, and a memory storing a program. The program, when executed by the processor, executes a switching operation, in which first display information to be displayed on the display is switched to second display information according to the direction indicated by the swipe gesture manipulation detected by the gesture sensor.

A method for providing information concerning travel by public transportation to a user via a terminal device capable of acquiring a time and a position includes acquiring, from the terminal device, information indicating the user's alighting location, acquiring a departure time and a boarding location based on whether a traveling speed calculated from a first time and a first position and a second time and a second position acquired from the terminal device have exceeded a first threshold value, identifying a transportation service the user has boarded based on the departure time, the boarding location, and operation information, determining whether the identified transportation service stops at the alighting location acquired from the terminal device, and providing the user, via the terminal device, information indicating that this transportation service does not stop at the alighting location if it is determined that the transportation service does not stop at the alighting location.

A navigation terminal includes a communicator, an alerter, and a processor. The processor obtains destination information indicating a user's destination, obtains first location information indicating the location of the navigation terminal, starts navigation according to a route calculated based on the destination information and the first location information, obtains second location information indicating the location of the navigation terminal after starting the navigation, starts the alerter when the distance from the location indicated by the second location information to a predetermined spot on the route becomes smaller than or equal to the first distance, and causes the communicator to transmit a control signal to a wearable terminal of the user to vibrate a vibrator in the wearable terminal when the distance from the location indicated by the second location information to the predetermined spot becomes smaller than or equal to a second distance smaller than the first distance.

Navigation terminal, navigation system, wearable terminal, navigation method, and recording medium

A method is provided for controlling interaction among an information terminal, an electronic mail server, and a wearable terminal. The method causes an information terminal to receive electronic mail from an electronic mail server by using a mail application for executing transmission and reception of the electronic mail, the mail application being stored in a memory of the information terminal. The method also causes the information terminal to transfer the received electronic mail to a wearable terminal having a second display, and to receive viewing information from the wearable terminal, the viewing information indicating that the electronic mail was displayed on the second display. The method further causes the information terminal to determine whether the electronic mail is being displayed on the second display, and to automatically display, on the first display, a reply-mail creation screen for creating a reply mail to the electronic mail.

Method for controlling information terminal in cooperation with wearable terminal

A wearable terminal includes: a body having a display that performs display, a sensor that detects a first angle of rotation by which the display has been rotated with respect to a first axis as an axis of rotation, and a controller that controls the display according to the first angle of rotation; and a band that is connected to the body and extends around the forearm in an arcuate shape, wherein the first axis is perpendicular to a second axis and is parallel to a direction in which the forearm extends, when the first angle of rotation is within a first angle range, the controller causes a first display image displayed, and when the first angle of rotation changes from the first angle range to a second angle range, the controller causes a part of the first display image and a part of a second display image simultaneously displayed.

In a wearable terminal, a controller determines whether a direction of a display surface detected by a detector is within a first angle range. In a case where a latest direction of the display surface is out of the first angle range, the controller puts the display in a sleep state, but otherwise the controller puts the display in an active state. Furthermore, the controller specifies a second angle range from the second reference direction. The controller switches the display from the sleep state to the active state in a case the controller determines that the plurality of directions of the display surface detected in the first period and that the direction of the display surface newly detected by the detector is out of the second angle range. In the second display control, the display is switched from the sleep state to the active state even when the newly detected direction of the display surface is out of the first angle range.

Wearable terminal and display control method

A head-mounted display apparatus worn on the head of a user includes an attitude detector that detects the attitude of the head-mounted display apparatus, a manipulation detector that detects a predetermined manipulation performed on the head-mounted display apparatus, a display, and a processor that switches first display information to be displayed on the display to second display information according to a change in the attitude detected by the attitude detector. If the manipulation detector detects the predetermined manipulation, even if there is a change in the attitude detected by the attitude detector, the processor maintains the first display information being displayed on the display without switching the second display information.

A head-mounted display apparatus worn on the head of a user and a method for controlling the head-mounted display apparatus are disclosed. The head-mounted display apparatus includes an attitude detector that detects the attitude of the head-mounted display apparatus, a manipulation detector that detects a predetermined manipulation performed on the head-mounted display apparatus, a display, and a processor. The head-mounted display apparatus switches a display of first display information to second display information according to a change in the attitude detected by the attitude detector. However, if the manipulation detector detects the predetermined manipulation, the head-mounted display apparatus maintains the display of the first display information without switching to the second display information even if there is a change in the attitude detected by the attitude sensor.

A method of causing a processor of a head-mounted display including a display device that displays an image to execute operations including receiving information indicating an inclination of the head-mounted display, determining a posture of the head-mounted display based on the received information indicating the inclination, in a case where the posture of the head-mounted display is first posture, controlling the display device to display a representing an operation process performed by a user and superimposed in a field of view of the user, and in a case where it is determined that the posture of the head-mounted display has changed from the first posture to a second posture, switching the image displayed on the display device to a second image having a display area smaller than that of the first image.
