A gateway apparatusconnected to an access networkaccommodating a plurality of ISP networks, and having an LAC function of transferring a PPP frame received from a user terminal to any one of the ISP networks via an L2TP connection set on the access network, includes: a cache server interfacefor connection to a cache server; and a packet transfer controller (A toC and) for selecting a PPP frame in which a Web contents request message is included in a payload field from a stream of PPP frames received from a user terminal, and transferring the request message indicated in the PPP frame to the cache server via the cache server interface.

Gateway apparatus with LAC function

A gateway apparatus connected to an access network accommodating a plurality of ISP networks , and having an LAC function of transferring a PPP frame received from a user terminal to any one of the ISP networks via an L2TP connection set on the access network, includes: a cache server interface for connection to a cache server; and a packet transfer controller ( A to C and ) for selecting a PPP frame in which a Web contents request message is included in a payload field from a stream of PPP frames received from a user terminal, and transferring the request message indicated in the PPP frame to the cache server via the cache server interface.

A private branch exchange having a comparatively small number of ISDN circuits, in the circuit interface a table is provided for the purpose of conversion between a logical channel lying between ISDN terminal equipment and the private branch exchange and one lying between the private branch exchange and an ISDN network. Such a private branch exchange refers to this table to recognize the correspondence of a user packet between ISDN terminal equipment and the private branch exchange to one between the private branch exchange and an ISDN network in order to perform packet switching on the D-channel. The use of this construction eliminates the need of any packet switching hardware, packet switching transmission line and high speed transmission line for communication between divided processors. Therefore, packet switching on the D-channel is possible without hampering the circuit switching performance of current circuit switching equipment.
