An apparatus in which a glass rod is inserted into a spinning oven to perform spinning and glass fiber yarn is drawn out at a shutter located in the lower end of the spinning oven, comprising a timer for measuring a time from the start of heating of the glass rod inserted into the spinning oven until the fall of glass drops formed by the heating of the glass rod and a detector below the shutter for detecting the fall of the glass drops, for the purpose of automatically opening the shutter when a preset time of the timer is over and automatically closing the shutter by detection by the detector, thereby dispensing with a worker's monitoring of the spinning oven for opening and closing the shutter and preventing a danger of giving damage to the shutter and the spinning oven in the event of delayed shutter opening-closing timing.

A dust seal assembly for a closed type mixer including a rotor shaft opening at least one end of a mixing chamber, a rotor shaft extending through the opening, a collar ring fitted on the rotor shaft for rotation therewith and closing the rotor shaft opening, and a fixed gland ring associated with the collar ring to impart a sealing pressure thereto, wherein the assembly includes: abrasion resistant members of super hard metals of different hardnesses attached to sliding portions of the collar ring and the gland ring, respectively, the abrasion resistant member on the gland ring being formed with a forwardly tapered shape in section.

Dust seal assembly for use in a closed type mixer and its control

A cavity transfer mixing extruder which includes an extrusion unit and a mixing unit, which are united coaxially. The extrusion unit includes a barrel provided with a feed opening through which materials are fed into the barrel, and a screw shaft coaxially and rotatably extended through the barrel. The mixing unit includes a housing, a stator fixedly fitted in the housing and a first cavity group including circumferential cavity rows of cavities in the inner circumference thereof, and rotor joined coaxially to the front end of the screw shaft, coaxially rotatably extended through the stator, and provided with a second cavity group including circumferential cavity rows of cavities in the outer circumference thereof. The respective cavities of the first and second cavity groups, when developed on a plane, each has a parallelogrammic shape defined by a pair of opposite, parallel straight walls extending perpendicularly to the axial direction, and a pair of opposite, parallel straight walls inclined at an angle to the axial direction. The longitudinal axes of the cavities of the first cavity group, and the longitudinal axes of the cavities of the second cavity group are inclined in opposite directions, respectively, with respect to the axial direction so that the materials filling the cavities are forced forward as the rotor is rotated relative to the stator.

Cavity transfer mixing extruder

Disclosed is a closed type mixing and kneading apparatus with two juxtaposed double-wing rotors providing increased mixing and increased shearing action. One of the wings of each rotor has a length ratio of 0.6 to 0.9 relative to the total length of the rotor at a twist angle of 10.degree. to 40.degree.. The two wings of each rotor are overlapped by between 0.2 and 0.8 times the total length of the rotor.

Closed type mixing/kneading apparatus

An internal mixer includes a pair of rotors each having spiral vanes adapted to advance materials in the axial direction of the rotors. More particularly, each of the respective rotors has a long vane and a short vane and each of the vanes is of a spiral direction. The spiraling or screwing direction of the long vane is the same as the screwing direction of the short vane on the respective rotors. The flow of the materials along the axial direction differs from one rotor to another. Also disclosed is a mixing and kneading machine including a pair of parallel rotors each having a long vane and a short vane, the long vane extending spirally about the center lines of the rotors and the short vane extending along the center lines of the rotors. Flowing behavior of material to be mixed and kneaded occurs in opposing directions between both rotors.
