A hemostatic material as a high-performance medical material is described, which is capable of stopping bleeding in short time and is easy to handle and produce. The hemostatic material contains a nano-fiber that contains: a polymer, and a polypeptide having a peptide fragment represented by formula (1):-(Pro-Y-Gly)-&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)wherein Y represents hydroxyproline or proline, and n represents an integer ranging from 5 to 9000.

An object is to provide a method for producing an ever-larger molecular weight collagen-like polypeptide single strand. Another object is to provide a method for controlling a molecular weight of a product to be obtained in desired magnitude upon producing a collagen-like polypeptide single strand. A solution is a method for producing a polypeptide including a step for allowing a condensation reaction of peptide oligomers represented by any one of formulas (1) to (3) (SEQ ID No:1 to SEQ ID No:3), wherein the condensation reaction is carried out in an aqueous solvent containing a phosphate ion in the range of 0 M to less than 0.01 M in the presence of a condensing agent, or a condensing agent and a condensing auxiliary:H-(Pro-Y-Gly)-OH&#x2003;&#x2003;(1);H-(Y-Gly-Pro)-OH&#x2003;&#x2003;(2); andH-(Gly-Pro-Y)-OH&#x2003;&#x2003;(3);wherein, in formulas (1) to (3), Y is hydroxyproline or proline, and n is an integer from 1 to 10.

An objective of the invention is to provide an adsorbent allowing purification of a blood coagulation factor or a cell adhesion factor under mild conditions, according to simple procedures, and at a low cost and safely while having a high affinity and a high resistance to deterioration, and a method for purifying the blood coagulation factor or the cell adhesion factor; a solution is to apply a polypeptide having peptide fragments represented by formula (1) as the adsorbent for the blood coagulation factor or the cell adhesion factor, and to purify the blood coagulation factor or the cell adhesion factor using the adsorbent:-(Pro-Hyp-Gly)-Wherein, in formula (1), n is an integer from 2 to 9,000.
