According to one embodiment, a display assist apparatus includes an acquisition unit, a first processor, a second processor, and a display controller. The acquisition unit acquires a character string. The first processor divides the character string into first segments each of which is a segment representing a semantic cluster and generates a plurality of divided character strings. The second processor detects, for the character string, second segments each of which is a segment larger than the each of the first segments. The display controller performs display control to make a distinction between the first segments and the second segments when displaying the plurality of divided character strings.

According to one embodiment, a simultaneous speech processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit, a speech recognition unit, a detection unit and an output unit. The acquisition unit acquires a speech signal. The speech recognition unit generates a decided character string and at least one candidate character string. The detection unit detects a first character string as a processing piece character string if the first character string included in the decided character string exists commonly in one or more combined character strings on dividing the one or more combined character strings by a boundary indicating a morphological position serving as a start position of a processing piece in natural language processing. The output unit outputs the processing piece character string.

Simultaneous speech processing apparatus and method

According to one embodiment, an interpretation apparatus includes a translator, a calculator and a generator. The translator performs machine translation on a speech recognition result corresponding to an input speech audio from a first language into a second language to generate a machine translation result. The calculator calculates a word number based on a first time when the machine translation result is generated and a second time when output relating to a prior machine translation result generated prior to the machine translation result ends, the word number being 0 or larger. The generator omits at least the word number of words from the machine translation result to generate an abridged sentence output while being associated with the speech audio.

According to one embodiment, a speech translation apparatus includes a first input unit configured to input a first speech of a first speaker; a second input unit configured to input a second speech of a second speaker that is different from the first speaker; a first translation unit configured to translate the first speech to a first target language sentence; a second translation unit configured to translate the second speech to a second target language sentence; a first output unit configured to output the first target language sentence; a second output unit configured to output the second target language sentence; a speech detecting unit configured to detect a first speech duration from the first speech and detect a second speech duration from the second speech; and an output timing adjustment unit configured to adjust at least one of the first output unit and the second output unit, when the first speech duration and the second speech duration overlap each other.

Speech translation apparatus, speech translation method and program product for speech translation

According to one embodiment, a machine translation apparatus includes a speech recognition unit, a translation unit, a detection unit and an addition unit. The speech recognition unit performs speech recognition of speech. The translation unit translates the plurality of source language strings into target language strings in a chronological order. The detection unit detects ambiguity in interpretation of the speech corresponding to a first target language string of the target language strings. The addition unit adds, an additional phrase being one of words and phrases to interpret uniquely a modification relationship, to the first target language string if ambiguity is detected.
