A gas purification apparatus includes: a housing to which a gas is introduced; a filter portion for removing an impure substance in the gas from the gas, the filter portion being disposed inside the housing; and a gas purification agent for removing a removal target substance in the gas from the gas, the gas purification agent being disposed, inside the housing, on the filter portion or in a space at a downstream side of the filter portion with respect to a flow of the gas.

The millimeter waveband filter includes: a transmission line that is formed by a waveguide which propagates electromagnetic waves with a predetermined frequency range of a millimeter waveband from one end to the other end in a TE10 mode; and a pair of radio-wave half mirrors that are disposed opposite each other with a space interposed therebetween so as to block the inside of the transmission line and have planar shapes and a characteristic of transmitting a part of the electromagnetic waves with the predetermined frequency range and reflecting a part thereof. In the electromagnetic waves incident from the one end side of the transmission line, a frequency component centered on a resonant frequency of a resonator, which is formed between the pair of radio-wave half mirrors, is selectively output from the other end of the transmission line.

An input signal Sx in a first millimeter-wave frequency band higher than 100 GHz is input to a millimeter-wave band filterin which a pair of radio wave half mirrorsA andB so as to opposite to each other and which performs a resonance operation. A signal component Sa corresponding to the resonance frequency of the filter is extracted, is mixed with a first local signal Lwith a fixed frequency, and is converted into a signal in a second frequency band. The converted signal component Sb is mixed with a second local signal Lwhose frequency is swept and is converted into a signal in a predetermined intermediate frequency band. Then, the level of the signal is detected. The millimeter-wave filterhas high selectivity characteristics in a frequency domain higher than 100 GHz and can change its passband center frequency.

Millimeter-wave band spectrum analysis device and analysis method

A radio-wave half mirror for millimeter waveband is fixed inside a transmission line propagating electromagnetic waves of millimeter waveband in a single mode so as to transmit a part of incident electromagnetic waves and reflect a part thereof. The radio-wave half mirror includes: a half mirror body where a slit for transmitting electromagnetic waves is provided on a metal plate; and a dielectric plate that is provided on one surface side of the half mirror body so as to form a dielectric resonator which resonates at a frequency determined by the thickness and the permittivity, and has a transmittance characteristic having a degree of inclination substantially the same as that of the half mirror body in a slope which is inverse to a slope of a transmittance characteristic of the half mirror body in a desired frequency range of the millimeter waveband.

Radio-wave half mirror for millimeter waveband and method of smoothing transmittance

A transmission line which allows electromagnetic waves in a predetermined frequency range of a millimeter waveband to propagate in a TE10 models formed by a first waveguide and a second waveguide. A resonator is formed by electric wave half mirrors fixed to the first waveguide and the second waveguide. The second waveguide has a structure in which a first transmission line forming body has a plate shape and has a square hole forming the first transmission line formed to pass therethrough from one surface toward an opposite surface, a second transmission line forming body has a plate shape and has a square hole forming the second transmission line formed to pass therethrough from one surface toward an opposite surface, and the first transmission line forming body and the second transmission line forming body are connectable and separable.

Millimeter waveband filter and method of manufacturing the same

A millimeter waveband filter is provided with a resonator formed by a pair of electric wave half mirrors in a transmission line of a waveguide allowing electromagnetic waves in a predetermined frequency range of a millimeter waveband to propagate in a TE10 mode, and allows frequency components centering on the resonance frequency of the resonator to pass therethrough. A high-pass filter which has a transmission line reduced in size so as to have a cutoff frequency matching an upper limit of a lower rejection band of a filter passband is formed in a transmission line between the end of the waveguide and the electric wave half mirror, thereby increasing the attenuation of the lower rejection band.

Millimeter waveband filter and method of increasing rejection band attenuation

An electroabsorption optical modulator used as a sampling element has two optical terminals and a power supply terminal, the two optical terminals are used to input and output light, and the power supply terminal imparts an electric field to an optical path connecting the two optical terminals. The electroabsorption optical modulator has a characteristic in which an absorption index is changed with respect to the light beam propagating through the optical path according to a level of the electric field. A monitoring (synchronization sampling) object optical signal is input into one of the two optical terminals of the electroabsorption optical modulator. A predetermined direct-current voltage exhibiting a high absorption index for the monitoring (synchronization sampling) object optical signal is imparted to the power supply terminal of the electroabsorption optical modulator. A sampling optical pulse is input into another of the two optical terminals of the electroabsorption optical modulator through a photocoupler. The absorption index for the monitoring (synchronization sampling) object optical signal is lowered by a mutual absorption saturation characteristic of the electroabsorption optical modulator, and synchronization sampling of the monitoring (synchronization sampling) object optical signal is performed to supply an optical signal from the other of the two optical terminals of the electroabsorption optical modulator through the photocoupler. The mutual absorption saturation characteristic is generated when the sampling optical pulse is input into the other of the two optical terminals.

Optical signal synchronization sampling apparatus and method, and optical signal monitoring apparatus and method using the same

The optical signal sampling apparatus and the optical signal monitor apparatus are configured of an optical combiner for combining an optical signal to be sampled and a sampling light pulse with each other and an electroabsorption modulator. The electroabsorption modulator has two optical terminals for inputting/outputting the light and a power supply terminal for applying the electric field to the optical path connecting the two optical terminals, and has such a characteristic that the absorption rate of the light propagating through the optical path changes in accordance with the magnitude of the electric field, the light emitted from the optical combiner is received by one of the two optical terminals, and the absorption rate is increased when the sampling light pulse is not incident while the absorption rate is decreased when the sampling light pulse is incident. Further, the apparatuses include a DC power supply for applying a predetermined DC voltage to the power supply terminal and an optical separator for selectively emitting the optical signal component to be sampled, of the optical signals emitted from another of the two optical terminals.

Optical signal sampling apparatus and method and optical signal monitor apparatus and method using the same

A sampling optical pulse generation unit emits a sampling optical pulse. The sampling optical pulse has a period different from a predetermined offset time to integral multiplication of a clock period of a data signal, and the data signal modulates an optical signal of a monitoring target. An optical sampling unit performs sampling of the optical signal of the monitoring target using an electroabsorption optical modulator. The electroabsorption optical modulator has a characteristic in which an absorption index is changed with respect to light propagating through an optical path according to a level of an electric field. The optical signal of the monitoring target is input into one of two optical terminals of the electroabsorption optical modulator. The sampling optical pulse is input into another of the two optical terminals through a photocoupler. The absorption index with respect to the optical signal of the monitoring target is lowered by generating a mutual absorption saturation characteristic of the electroabsorption optical modulator when the sampling optical pulse is supplied, and the sampling of the optical signal of the monitoring target is performed to output an optical pulse signal from the other of the two optical terminals through the photocoupler.

Optical signal quality monitoring apparatus and method

An optical signal monitoring apparatus includes an optical interference unit, a sampling optical pulse generation unit, an optical sampling unit, a photoelectric converter, and a computation unit. The optical interference unit includes an optical brancher, a delay device, an optical phase adjuster, and an optical multiplexer. The optical brancher branches a monitoring object signal optical signal phase-modulated at a predetermined symbol rate into two optical paths. The delay device imparts delay corresponding to an integral multiple of one symbol to an optical signal branched in one optical path of the two optical paths. The optical phase adjuster brings an optical signal emitted delay device and an optical signal branched in another optical path of the two optical paths into a predetermined optical phase difference. The optical multiplexer multiplexes the optical signals which are brought into the predetermined optical phase difference, and converts the phase-modulated monitoring object optical signal into intensity-modulated light to emit the intensity-modulated light. The sampling optical pulse generation unit generates a sampling optical pulse having a period which is different from a predetermined offset time to integral multiplication of a symbol clock period corresponding to the predetermined symbol rate. The optical sampling unit samples the intensity-modulated light using the sampling optical pulse and emits an optical pulse signal.

Optical signal monitoring apparatus and method

A delay time measurement apparatus for an optical element includes a pulse light source, wavelength setting unit, optical power divider, optical delay unit, controller, and detector. The pulse light source can vary the wavelength of light to be output, and outputs an optical pulse having a predetermined repetition period. The wavelength setting unit sets the wavelength of light to be output from the pulse light source. The optical power divider divides the optical pulse output from the pulse light source into a first optical pulse and a second optical pulse to be input to an optical element as the object to be measured. The optical delay unit can vary the spatial optical path length along which the first optical pulse divided by the optical power divider travels. The controller changes the spatial optical path length of the optical delay unit. The detector receives a measurement optical pulse output from the optical element as the object to be measured, and a reference optical pulse output from the optical delay unit, and detects the delay time of light that has passed through the optical element as the object to be measured from a change in spatial optical path length required for superposing the measurement and reference optical pulses on each other.
