The objective of the present invention is to provide a thermosensitive recording medium excellent in color developing property, especially excellent in bar code readability, under severe environment. Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent on a substrate, wherein the thermosensitive recording layer contains a specific sulfone compound and a specific urea-urethane-based compound in a specific ratio.

As a thermosensitive recording medium utilizes a coloring reaction between a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent, a thermosensitive recording medium using an environment-friendly color developing agent is provided. Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent on a substrate, wherein the thermosensitive recording layer comprises a gluconolactone as the electron accepting color developing agent.

A thermosensitive recording medium is provided that is excellent in heat discoloration resistance in the blank portions and in bar code readability. It also has excellent water resistance and printing (recording) run-ability. The thermosensitive recording medium includes a support, a thermosensitive recording layer installed on the support, and a protective layer on the thermosensitive recording layer. The thermosensitive recording layer contains two kinds of electron accepting color developing agents, a sulfonic acid compound and a diphenyl sulfone compound. Both the thermosensitive recording layer and the protective layer contain crosslinking agents, and at least one, and preferably both, of the thermosensitive recording layer and the protective layer contain an ammonium zirconium carbonate as the crosslinking agent.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a thermosensitive recording medium with an increased gloss in the blank and printed portions, excellent color developing sensitivity and excellent printing run-ability, particularly excellent printing run-ability at high-speed printing. Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored basic leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent, an intermediate layer and a gloss layer as an outermost layer in this order on a substrate, wherein the intermediate layer is formed by containing a carboxyl group-containing resin and the gloss layer is formed by containing a long chain alkyl group-containing resin and an emulsion type silicone copolymer resin. The long chain alkyl group-containing resin is preferably an acrylic resin containing long-chain alkyl group(s) and the silicone copolymer resin is preferably a silicone-acryl copolymer resin and/or a silicone-urethane copolymer resin.

A thermosensitive recording label is provided having a thermosensitive recording layer and a tackifier layer installed sequentially on a transparent film substrate. The thermosensitive recording label has excellent water and weather resistance.

The present invention presents a thermosensitive recording medium having sufficient water resistance against water or moisture when the thermosensitive recording medium is used outdoors and also having a superior printing run-ability when printing at high speed (sticking resistance), color developing sensitivity, scratching resistance, plasticizer resistance and solvent resistance. The thermosensitive recording medium shows a superior water resistance and also shows a superior printing run-ability when printing at high speed (sticking resistance) etc, by installing a thermosensitive recording layer on a support and a protective layer on the thermosensitive recording layer, wherein the protective layer contains an acrylic resin with a glass transition temperature of higher than 50 degrees C. and lower than or equal to 95 degrees C.

The present invention provides a thermosensitive recording medium with excellent color developing sensitivity, moist heat resistance and plasticizer resistance, as well as excellent heat resistance, background coloring, light resistance and the like in the printed image. A diphenyl sulfone derivative containing a hydroxyl group on one end and an alkoxy group on the other end has a higher melting point than the one containing hydroxyl groups on both ends. As a result, the thermosensitive recording medium obtained using the diphenyl sulfone derivative as the color developing agent in the thermosensitive color developing layer has excellent heat resistance. However the color developing sensitivity of the thermosensitive recording medium generally declines simultaneously, when a color developing agent with a high melting point is ordinarily used. The thermosensitive recording medium of the present invention that uses a combination of the diphenyl sulfone derivative and a specific phenol derivative in the thermosensitive color developing layer has a good color developing sensitivity and an improved balance among the properties such as moist heat resistance, plasticizer resistance and the like.

The present invention provides a thermosensitive recording medium, which has a satisfactory color developing sensitivity, an excellent general printability (surface strength) and an excellent anti-sticking property. The thermosensitive recording layer of the thermosensitive recording medium of the present invention contains an alkylketene dimer. Without forming a protecting layer, the thermosensitive recording medium of the present invention is superior in color developing sensitivity, general printability (surface strength) and anti-sticking property.

The present invention presents a thermosensitive recording medium having an excellent color developing property, water resistance and preservation properties (such as anti-self-color-development) and is harmless to the environment. The present invention is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored basic leuco dye and an electron accepting developing agent on a substrate, wherein the thermosensitive recording layer further comprises a resin containing a carboxyl group, an epichlorohydrin resin and a polyamine/amide resin. This thermosensitive recording medium is suitable for recording with a low applied energy.

The present invention presents a thermosensitive recording medium having excellent color development, image quality and preservation properties as well as excellent stamp receptivity, anti-scratching ability, printability and water blocking resistance. The present invention is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer comprising at least a colorless or pale colored basic leuco dye and an electron accepting developing agent as a coating layer on a substrate, wherein at least an outermost layer among the thermosensitive recording layer and other optionally prepared coated layers contains rice starch particles.

The present invention provides a thermosensitive recording medium, which is excellent in stamping ability, anti-scratching ability, and water and plasticizer resistance of image area as well as in recording sensitivity, image quality and storage stability. The present invention is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer containing at least a colorless or pale colored basic leuco dye and an electron accepting developing agent as a coating layer on a substrate, wherein at least an outermost layer among the thermosensitive recording layer and other optionally prepared coated layers contains powdered cellulose, wherein the powdered cellulose is prepared by a dry grinding process at ambient temperature. The thermosensitive recording medium preferably contains a condensate composition comprising 2,2'-methylenebis(4-t-butylphenol) as an electron accepting developing agent, and a cross-linked diphenylsulfone compound such as 2,2&#x2032;-bis[4-(4-hydroxyphenylsulfone) phenoxy]diphenylether as a stabilizer.

A thermally-sensitive recording medium having a protecting layer formed on a thermally-sensitive recording layer containing a colorless or pale-colored electron-donating leuco dye and electron-accepting color-developing agent. The thermally-sensitive recording layer is formed on a substrate, and the protecting layer contains a resin that contains a carboxyl group, epichlorohydrin resin and modified polyamine/amide resin, and the thermally-sensitive recording medium exhibits sufficient resistant against water such as rain or humidity, and further is excellent in printing run-ability (head debris and sticking) and sensitivity.

A coating paper which can be removed by water comprising a substrate paper of single layer or lamellar structure having two or more layers which has at least one water decaying layer containing 5-100 wt % of water insoluble fibrous carboxy alkyl cellulose and a water base color is coated on said substrate paper, wherein a coating layer and at least a part of substrate paper which is a supporter of said coating layer has a characteristic of easily removing, dispersion and dissolving by contact with water, and can provide a water decaying coating paper used preferably for an use of label for a returnable container which may easily remove by contact with water and excellent in printing aptitude and a method for preparation thereof can be provided.

A thermally sensitive recording medium whose luster of printed part is excellent can be provided by a thermally sensitive recording medium of single layer or multi layers having at least a thermally sensitive recording layer that contains a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent on a substrate comprising, containing a pigment whose aspect ratio is 30 or more in at least one layer formed on a substrate.
