A reciprocating tool easily supplies a lubricant, such as grease (lubricating oil), to a mechanism for reciprocating a slider, and prevents a lack of lubricant. A reciprocating saw as a reciprocating tool includes a motor, a reciprocating conversion mechanism that converts rotation of the motor to reciprocation, a slider connected to the reciprocating conversion mechanism and being reciprocable, and a slider guide that supports the slider in a reciprocable manner and includes a lubricant-passage member in contact with the slider to allow passage of at least part of a lubricant through the lubricant-passage member, and a lubricant reservoir located adjacent to the lubricant-passage member to store the lubricant.

Reciprocating tool

A grease discharge device includes a motor, a plunger, a grease supply unit, a pump, a check valve, and a relief valve. The plunger reciprocates by driving of the motor. The grease supply unit supplies grease to a forward movement side with respect to a backward movement side dead center of the plunger. The pump performs a discharge behavior of the grease by the reciprocation of the plunger. The check valve is disposed at a downstream side with respect to a forward movement side dead center of the plunger in a discharge path of the grease inside the pump. The relief valve is disposed between a supply portion of the grease by the grease supply unit and the check valve. The relief valve releases the grease inside the discharge path to the grease supply unit side according to a pressure rise inside the discharge path.

A battery-operated driver-drill () includes an epicycle reduction gear unit () which encases a switchover sleeve () having inner teeth () and outer teeth (). The gear unit () is rotatably mounted on second and third internal gears () and integrally slidably connected with a slide pate (). By operating the slide plate (), the switchover sleeve () may be slid between a first position, in which the slide plate () engages one of the second and third internal gears () while engaging axial ridges () of a first gear case (), and a second position, in which the slide plate () simultaneously engages both the second internal gear () and a first carrier () adjacent to the second internal gear () while disengaged from the axial ridges ().

A right angle drill () includes a motor housing () which defines therein a hole () for accommodating a motor field system (), a cut-out () formed in the underside of the motor housing () from the front end toward the rear of the tool (), and a light unit () slidably fitted in the cut-out (). The light unit () is a plate member having an arcuate cross section so as to define an inwardly curved rear (i.e., inner) surface () along its entire length. The unit's inner surface () conforms to the inner surface of the accommodating hole () of the motor housing (). The light unit () additionally includes a protrusion () at the front outer surface thereof. Furthermore, the protrusion () contains a pair of LEDs () for illuminating objects below an output spindle () to which a bit can be attached.

Power tools () may include an electric motor () disposed within a housing (). A lighting device () may be mounted on the housing and may serve to illuminate the area around a tool bit and/or a portion of a workpiece (W) that will be machined by the tool bit. An electric light () may be connected to a power source circuit () via an electric line that includes electric wires (). In order to facilitate the wiring operation, a wire guide () preferably supports or retains at least a portion of the electric line. The wire guide may be mounted on the housing such that the wire guide extends along an inner surface or an outer surface of the housing. In the alternative, the electric line may be disposed within a recess () defined within an inner surface or an outer surface of the housing. In either case, the electrical line can be easily wired or installed and the electric line preferably does not interfere with machining operations during operation of the power tool.

A lighting device includes a mount adapted to be attached to a power tool. A flexible support extends from the mount and permits the lighting device to be oriented in any desired direction. A fluorescent lamp is mounted on the flexible support opposite to the mount. An electric circuit serves to light the fluorescent lamp and includes an inverter circuit.

The foot assemblies ( ) can effectively counteract vibration occurring in the axial direction of the feet ( ) and reduce vertical vibration of the base ( ) while facilitating a smooth orbital motion of the base.

There is provided a structure for use in a power driven tool (1) for collecting dust generated by the operation of the tool. The structure includes: an outer housing; a commutation motor (5) disposed within the housing and including a main shaft (6) which has a tip end and a commutator (7) on the main shaft; a pair of brush assemblies (29) radially disposed around, and in contact with, the commutator of the motor; and a dust collecting fan (9) mounted on the main shaft of the commutation motor. The fan is disposed between the commutator and the outer housing. Also included are a dust intake passage (28) formed within the housing and having an intake (27) formed adjacent the location where dust is generated by the operation of the tool; a dust discharge passage (46) formed within the housing and having an outlet; and a dust chamber (43) formed substantially between the outer housing and the commutator for containing the dust collecting fan. The dust chamber has a first connecting portion (35) coupled to the dust intake passage and a second connecting portion (40) coupled to the dust discharge passage. The first and second connecting portions are arranged around the main shaft where they do not overlap the brush assemblies in the axial direction of the main shaft.

A belt drift control device (20) is mounted in the side wall (2a) of belt sander (1) comprises a shoulder bolt (22) threaded through a nut 21 in the side wall (2a). A generally conical, tapered roller (23) is rotatably engaged with the free end of the shoulder bolt (22). The tapered roller (23) comprises a taper portion (24) and a flange (24a). The axial movement of the tapered roller (23) is restricted by a washer (26) and a stop ring (27). A control knob (29) is fitted around the head of the shoulder bolt (22) and pressed outwardly by a compression spring (28) surrounding the shoulder bolt (22). Rotation of the control knob (29) axially feeds the shoulder bolt (22) to permit adjustment of the position of the tapered roller (23) relative to an abrasive belt (10). The tapered roller (23) is preferably positioned such that the top end of the taper portion (24) is in contact with the left edge (10a) of the abrasive belt (10) when the belt (10) is a normal position.

A hammer drill includes a spindle supported by a housing and movable in an axial direction relative to the housing within a predetermined range, a motor for rotating the spindle, a rotary cam member fixedly mounted on the spindle, a clutch cam member which supports a weight member is axially movably mounted on the spindle, and a biasing member for normally biasing the clutch cam member and weight member toward the rotary cam member in the axial direction of the spindle. A first cam and a second cam are provided on the rotary cam member and the clutch cam member, respectively, facing each other in the axial direction of the spindle. The first cam and the second cam cause the clutch cam and weight member to repeatedly move toward and away from the rotary cam member as the spindle is rotated causing the spindle to vibrate in the axial direction. The ratio: ##EQU1## determines the intensity of vibrations transmitted to the hands of an operator.
