An information processing apparatus manufactured at low cost and with ease and that is capable of making a search for a ground state of an arbitrary Ising model. An information processing unit containing a plurality of semiconductor chips, each retains a value of one spin or values of a plurality of spins and simulates interactions among the spins, inter-chip wiring between the necessary semiconductor chips, and a control unit that cause each semiconductor chip to perform interaction computation. The control unit converts data of a problem into data of a lattice-shaped Ising model, which is possibly expressed by the plurality of semiconductor chips, without causing a spin arrangement, in a ground state of an Ising model for the problem, to be changed. The data of the lattice-shaped Ising model is divided for allocation to the plurality of semiconductor chips, and causes each semiconductor chip to perform the interaction computation.

Embodiments herein include a device, system, and method for periodically capturing sensing signals using one or more detection electrodes to generate data for detecting an object proximate to the detection electrodes. The sensing signals are captured during detection periods within periodic detection cycles where each of the detection cycles define a period of time between consecutive detection periods. In addition, the device, system and method set a duration of the detection cycle to 1/m (where m is appositive integer) of a duration of a display-scan cycle. The value of m is selected based on a periodic noise signal. Thus, the device, system, and method may prevent a periodic noise signal which has a cycle that is longer than the detection period from worsening the accuracy of touch detection.

Semiconductor device and error canceling method

The semiconductor device has a touch panel controller, a processor and a display driver. The semiconductor device is arranged so as to reduce an electric power uselessly consumed while the action of the display driver is stopped or suspended and further, and an electric power uselessly consumed by the touch-detecting action for recovery of the display driver from the state of the action being stopped or suspended. The processor built in the semiconductor device together with the touch panel controller and the display driver returns to its workable state from Sleep state each time a given length of time elapses, and then causes the touch panel to perform a touch-detecting action. When the processor cannot acquire a result of judgment as 'being touched', it returns to Sleep state again, and waits for the given length of time to elapse.

A touch detecting circuit includes a discharging circuit, a detecting circuit, and a calibration circuit that is configured with a calibration capacitor connected to a terminal and a current source which is connected to the terminal and can be controlled so as to be on and off, that can be connected via the terminal to a sensing capacitor which is disposed on a touch panel, is provided. In the beginning, the sensing capacitor is charged to a predetermined voltage by the charging circuit, thereafter, in a process of discharging, a portion of charge amount that is discharged is used to charge the calibration capacitor, and another portion is discharged via the current source, and the rest is input to the detecting circuit. The detecting circuit measures the charge amount that is input.

Touch detecting circuit and semiconductor integrated circuit using the same

The touch panel controller is connected with a touch panel having a plurality of drive electrodes, a plurality of detection electrodes, and a plurality of capacitance components formed at intersections of the drive and detection electrodes. A two-edge detection mode is adopted for the touch panel controller, in which signals arising on each detection electrode in synchronization with rising and falling edges of a drive pulse output to the drive electrodes, and alternately changing in polarity are accumulated in the integration circuit in terms of absolute value components. The integration circuit switches the connection of the integration capacitance between an input and an output before the drive pulse edge changing. The touch panel controller contributes to the shortening of the time for touch detection by the touch panel and the increase of the accuracy of touch detection.

A touch panel control circuit includes a drive circuit that drives Y electrodes of a touch panel, and a detection circuit that is connected to X electrodes and detects a capacitance value of an intersection capacitor. The drive circuit applies a plurality of pulses to the Y electrodes in a predetermined period. The detection circuit includes a switched capacitor circuit capable of operating with respect to an input signal from the X electrodes in synchronization with the plurality of pulses, and an integration circuit that is connected to an output of the switched capacitor circuit and operates in synchronization with the pulses. The switched capacitor circuit is allowed to operate as a filter, and the switched capacitor circuit is set to have characteristics which have a maximum gain at a direct current and a frequency of a corresponding pulse and in which the gain is suppressed at a frequency therebetween.

Touch panel control circuit and semiconductor integrated circuit using the same

The touch panel controller activates a touch panel having a detection plane superposed on a display plane of a display device, and performs a touch detection. The touch panel controller uses a cycle of 1/n (n is a positive integer) of a display frame cycle on the display plane as the detection frame cycle of the detection plane. The touch panel controller decides an order of driving the detection-scan electrodes in each detection frame cycle according to predetermined phase-delay and phase-advance positions with respect to a display-scan electrode drive position of the display device so as to correspond to an order of the detection-scan electrode array of the touch panel. The touch panel controller makes possible to avoid the coincidence of display-scan and touch-detection positions without thinning touch detections even with the detection frame cycle of a touch sensor shorter than the display frame cycle of a liquid crystal panel.

A liquid crystal display system including: a liquid crystal display panel for displaying image data; a semiconductor device including a display driving circuit configured to drive the liquid crystal display panel, said display driving circuit having a function of generating gray scale voltages based on a gamma characteristic curve, said display driving circuit including: an interface circuit coupled to plurality of external terminals for inputting a first, second and third value which define the gamma characteristic curve; a first register configured to store the first value that adjusts an amplitude of the gamma characteristic curve; a second register configured to store the second value that adjusts a gradient of the gamma characteristic curve; a third register configured to store the third value making a micro adjustment of the gamma characteristic curve; and a generation circuit configured to generate the gray scale voltages based on the gamma characteristic curve.

It becomes possible to use drive pulses having different pulse widths for one kind of drive pulse signal period. Therefore, even if a voltage acting on a crossing part of drive and detection electrodes is periodically changed through a stray capacitance attributed to an external object such as a finger in an undesired manner, the pulse width of the drive pulse is never fixed with respect to the period, and the periodic buildup of a certain voltage on a detection signal, which would make appreciable noise, is suppressed. Thus, the reduction of detection signals can be suppressed in quantity without switching the pulse signal frequency of the drive pulse of a touch panel.

Capacitive touch panel device with differing drive pulse widths

Provided is a touch sensor panel which can increase the detection sensitivity of a touch relatively readily. The touch sensor panel controller supplies drive electrodes of a touch sensor panel with a high-voltage AC drive signal with its low level set to a negative voltage and drives them. The time of change of a drive waveform supplied to the drive electrodes of the touch sensor panel is shifted relative to the time of change of a drive waveform supplied to a display scan electrode. The touch sensor panel controller uses a charge pump in synchronization with clock signals of more than one phase to produce a high drive voltage to activate drive electrodes of the touch sensor panel, and the clock signals of more than one phase are initialized each time the drive electrode is subjected to AC pulse driving.

Touch sensor panel controller and semiconductor device

The display driving circuit includes: an OD (OverDrive) calculation circuit operable to generate an OD driving signal for improving the response characteristic of a display device according to display image data; a drive-output circuit operable to supply an OD driving signal to the display device; and a compression circuit operable to store compressed display data in a memory. The compression circuit includes a DCT calculation module operable to execute DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) of display image data, and an entropy coding module operable to execute variable length entropy coding of DCT conversion display data. Preferably, the display driving circuit further includes a decompression circuit operable to supply an OD calculation circuit with display data resulting from decompression of compressed display data read out the memory.
