A plug of a connector that performs optical transmission is provided with an optical connection unit. The optical connection unit includes a lens that is provided on a side surface of the optical connection unit and performs optical connection with a lens provided on an optical connection unit of a receptacle in a direction orthogonal to an inserting/removing direction of the plug, and a locating surface that is provided on the side surface of the optical connection unit and abuts on a locating surface of the receptacle to determine a position of the optical connection unit in a mating condition of the plug into the receptacle.

A contact includes: an insulating housing, including a first face and a second face opposite to the first face, and formed with an insertion hole parallel to the first face and the second face, the first face formed with a first slit extending in an axial direction of the insertion hole, the insertion hole opening through the first slit; an electrically conductive case, formed with a second slit extending in the axial direction, and inserted into the insertion hole, the second slit facing the second face, a part of the case projected from the first face through the first slit; an electrically conductive plunger, disposed in the case, and having a distal end portion projected from the case; and a spring coil, disposed in the case, and urging the plunger in the axial direction.

Contact

An electric connector includes: a soldering portion, to be soldered to a substrate, and extending in a first direction; a rising portion, one end of which is connected to one end of the soldering portion, and extending in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; an elastic portion, one end of which is connected to the other end of the rising portion, and including at least one bending part; and a receiving portion, adapted to receive a plug, and having a U-shape including an open end and a closed end, the open end provided with contact parts which are opposed to each other in a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions, the closed end connected to the elastic portion. The soldering portion, the rising portion, the elastic portion and the receiving portion are integrally formed with each other.

Electric connector

A plug member is adapted to be fitted into a socket member in a first direction. The plug member includes: a plug body, formed with a plug groove extending in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; and plug contacts each having a blade portion. A pressing member includes a first part extending in the first direction, and a second part extending in a third direction orthogonal to the first direction and the second direction. Each of sheathed wires includes a conductive core wire and an insulative first sheath covering the core wire. A tip end portion of the first part of the pressing member is formed with first grooves arranged in the second direction. One end of the second part of the pressing member is formed with second grooves arranged in the second direction. The first part of the pressing member is inserted into the plug groove under a condition that first portions of the sheathed wires are respectively clamped by the first grooves and second portions of the sheathed wires are respectively clamped by the second grooves. The first part of the pressing member presses the sheathed wires against the plug contacts in the third direction when the first part of the pressing member is inserted into the plug groove, so that the blade portion bites into the core wire in associated one of the sheathed wires.

An insulative casing has a bottom face to be mounted on a board member. A conductive pin is disposed in the casing so as to be slidable in a first direction parallel to the bottom face. A conductive terminal is disposed in the casing and has at least one elastic piece which is always brought into contact with an outer periphery of the pin from a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. An elastic member is disposed between the pin and the terminal so that a tip end of the pin is projected from the casing while being retractable in the first direction.
