An optical connection box includes, a plurality of first optical connectors to which a plurality of first optical paths are respectively connected, a plurality of second optical connectors that respectively include an operation unit protruding from a peripheral edge side position further from a position of the plurality of first optical connectors on a first surface of the optical connection box, and that are respectively connected to a plurality of receptacle optical connectors which are disposed in the plurality of second optical paths, a plurality of relay optical fibers in which any one of the plurality of first optical connectors is disposed in the first terminal and any one of the plurality of second optical connectors is disposed in the second terminal, and a fitting structure with respect to a substrate in which the receptacle optical connectors are disposed.

To cool a blade type server disposed in an air-conditioned room, the following arrangements are made. The first is at least one shell having a ventilation passage disposed in the air-conditioned room. The second is, the following are disposed in a ventilation passage: racks, in which blade type servers each composed of a case with slim boards housed therein are stacked; cooling coils each having a coolant passage and a cooling fin and cooling a passing air; and at least one fan unit having axial-flow fans placed therein and producing air currents in one direction. The third is the fan unit forces a cooling air to flow in one direction in the ventilation passage thereby to cool the servers in the racks. The cooling coils and racks are disposed alternately so that warmed cooling air after passing through the rack is cooled by the cooling coil and then cools the next rack.

Cooling system for information device

A thermal capacitor cools servers when an active cooling system fails. The thermal capacitor includes cold insulation passages, fans, temperature sensors, and a control unit. The cold insulation passages each have a plurality of air flow channels obtained by dividing the air flow path into a plurality of air flow paths with different air flow path cross-sectional areas. The fan is mounted in each air flow path and the fan controls the air flow of each air flow channel. A temperature sensor is mounted in each outlet of the cold insulation passages. When a detected temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature, the control unit controls air flow so that the ratio of air flow by air flow passage with larger air flow path diameter to overall air flow of all air flow channel increases.

Thermal capacitor

In a blade of a blade server, power is supplied from a power distributing unit to an internal circuit, and also supplied to a capacitor to charge the capacitor. If power consumption of the blade server is high and a process load on a blade is also high, power is supplied to the internal circuit from both the power distributing unit and the capacitor. If the process load on the blade is low, power is supplied to the internal circuit only from the power distributing unit.

Power controller, server, and power control method

An interconnection network is provided with switch devices for computers for a plurality of computers, respectively, a predetermined number of physical lines for switch devices for computers are bound to form each of logical lines, the physical lines forming the logical lines interconnect the other switch devices for computer via a plurality of switch devices for relay to form a parallel computer system. A network management apparatus interconnects a plurality of computers through physical lines having a predetermined line speed to manage a switch apparatus constructing a parallel computer system. The switch apparatus comprises a plurality of physical port units to enable or disable the same through individual power supply ON/OFF control for the physical port units, thereby changing and controlling the line transmission speed according to the enable number. A logical port constructing unit in the network management apparatus bundles the physical lines by a plurality of physical port units in the switch apparatus to construct logical lines. A port control unit changes the number of operations of a plurality of physical port units assigned to the logical port units through the power supply ON/OFF control according to a necessary data transmission speed for the logical port units, thereby dynamically changing the line transmission speed.

Disclosed is a ring network in which a plurality of transmitting apparatuses are connected in ring form so as to be capable of transmitting in each of upstream and downstream directions, working and protection channels are assigned to each direction and, when failure occurs in a transmission path, a transmit signal is looped back using the protection channel to effect rescue. The ring network includes an insert transmitting apparatus that incorporates a packet, which enters from a lower-order side, into a higher-order signal and transmits the signal to a transmission path, and a drop transmitting apparatus that extracts the packet from the higher-order signal and transmits the packet to another lower-order side. Monitoring is performed to determine whether communication between the insert and drop transmitting apparatus has become unrescuable owing to transmission-path failure. When communication has become unrescuable, the insert transmitting apparatus halts the transmission of the packet to the transmission path.
