A proximity sensor includes a conductor, a receiving electrode, and a first transmission electrode. The conductor has an upper surface. The receiving electrode is separate from the upper surface of the conductor in an upward direction and extends along a first direction. The first direction is orthogonal to the upward direction. The first transmission electrode is separate from the upper surface of the conductor in the upward direction and extends along the first direction. The first transmission electrode and the receiving electrode are aligned with each other in a second direction. The second direction is orthogonal to both the upward direction and the first direction. The first transmission electrode has an upper surface having a shape bulging in the upward direction in a cross section orthogonal to the first direction.

Proximity sensor, control system, and equipment

Each of first electrode sections forming a transmission electrode includes a first main line and a plurality of first auxiliary lines. Each of second electrode sections forming a reception electrode includes a second main line and a plurality of second auxiliary lines. With the transmission and reception electrodes and overlapping each other, the first main line and the second main line intersect with each other at one point, and a cell region is unclosed. The cell region is surrounded by two or more types of thin wires selected from a group consisting of the first main line, the first auxiliary lines, the second main line, and the second auxiliary lines.

Touch sensor

Provided is a touch detection device, including: a plurality of resonant circuits arranged along a touch detection surface; an input signal line for inputting, to each of the plurality of resonant circuits, an input signal for causing resonance; and a detecting unit for detecting frequencies of a plurality of output signals output from the plurality of resonant circuits.

Touch detection device, touch panel, and image display device

A display device has a display panel and a backlight unit. The backlight unit includes first and second light source units, and a control unit that outputs a drive signal to the light source units to drive the first and second light source units during first and second drive periods in one frame period respectively. The control unit drives the light source units so that the one frame period has an overlapped period, in which the first and second drive periods overlap. The control unit outputs PWM signals to turn the light source units on and off to the light source units respectively. The control unit shifts a phase of the PWM signal to be outputted to the first light source unit and a phase of the PWM signal to be outputted to the second light source unit from each other.

Display device and method for controlling display device for reducing current requiremeents for driving light source units

The instant application describes a display apparatus that includes a display panel configured to display an image; and a backlight unit configured to illuminate the display panel from a back of the display panel. The backlight unit includes: N light-emitting diode strings connected in parallel with each other, each of the N light-emitting diode strings includes M light-emitting diodes connected in series, N being an integer of 2 or more and M being an integer of 1 or more; a power source unit connected in series with the N light-emitting diode strings and configured to generate a voltage; a drive unit connected in series with the N light-emitting diode strings and the power source unit and configured to supply currents to the N light-emitting diode strings; and a current regulator configured to regulate current flowing in each of the N light-emitting diode strings.

Display apparatus using a backlight

Provided is a backlight device wherein when the drive duty and the drive current are controlled according to a motion, the image quality is improved by preventing flicker caused by the change of the drive waveform. A light-emitting unit () comprises a plurality of light-emitting areas. A motion amount detecting unit () detects the motion amount of an image in each of a plurality of motion areas each corresponding to at least one or more light-emitting areas. A drive condition specifying unit specifies a drive condition including the duty and pulse height value of a drive pulse for causing each of the plurality of light-emitting areas to emit light, on the basis of the detected motion amount. A drive unit drives each of the plurality of light-emitting areas according to the specified drive condition. The drive condition specifying unit adjusts the drive condition such that the drive condition temporally smoothly changes.

Backlight device and display apparatus

The backlight apparatus allows brightness control with minimum image quality deterioration. This apparatus has: an illuminating section that radiates illumination light on a back of a liquid crystal panel comprising a plurality of image display areas; and a brightness determining section that determines a light emission brightness value of the illuminating section and renews a light emitting state of the illuminating section, based on the determined light emission brightness value. The illuminating section has light emitting areas illuminating each of a plurality of image display areas. The brightness determining section determines light emission brightness values of the image display areas, from values acquired by applying weights to the information based on input image signals of the image display areas, and changes the weights for the information based on luminance of ambient light surrounding the backlight apparatus.
