An image forming apparatus according to the present disclosure includes a skew correction device and a cleaning device. The skew correction device includes first conveying rollers. The first conveying rollers are rotatable about a predetermined rotation fulcrum. The first conveying rollers are, before a sheet, which is skewed, enters a device body, rotated from an initial position, and, when the sheet enters the device body, rotated back to the initial position while nipping and conveying the sheet. The cleaning device includes a toner conveying member that conveys residual toner on an image-carrying member to a predetermined container. Both the first conveying rollers and the toner conveying member operate by consecutively receiving a rotational driving force from a common electric motor.

Image forming apparatus

A belt drive device includes a drive source, a drive pulley, a driven shaft, a driven pulley, a belt, and a speed detecting device. The drive pulley is rotated about an axis thereof by the drive source. The driven shaft is rotatable about an axis thereof. The driven pulley is secured to and in axial alignment with the driven shaft. The belt is annularly formed of a metallic flat belt and mounted around the drive pulley and the driven pulley. The speed detecting device includes an encoder disk and a single optical sensor. The encoder disk has an optical pattern formed thereon. The optical sensor reads the optical pattern. The speed detecting device detects a rotational speed of the driven shaft based on a result of the optical sensor having read the optical pattern. The encoder disk is secured to and in axial alignment with the driven pulley.

The metal belt is wrapped around the drive pulley and the driven pulley.

Image forming apparatus capable of minimizing number of revolutions of motor

A drive transmission device is provided with a drive pulley driven by a motor, a driven pulley in which a bulging part crowned in a shape bulging outward in the radial direction is formed over the entire circumference of the outer peripheral surface, a belt wound around the drive pulley and the driven pulley, and a first measurement unit for measuring rotation unevenness of the drive pulley. The drive pulley has a uniform diameter in the axial direction which is a smaller diameter than that of the driven pulley. The belt is bent and deformed along the bulging part of the driven pulley so that the axial center portion is expanded outward the axial end portion. The axial end of the belt contacts the outer peripheral surface of the drive pulley, but does not contact the outer peripheral surface of the driven pulley.

A transmission cutoff mechanism cuts off transmission of a drive force transmitted to a driven pulley via a belt to a driven shaft when a motor rotates in the reverse direction. A control unit, in a case where rotation unevenness meets a condition, causes the swing gear to swing to the first position by reverse rotation of the motor, which causes the drive force to be transmitted to the driven shaft.

A drive force transmission mechanism includes a drive pulley, a driven pulley and an endless belt. The endless belt is wound around the drive pulley and the driven pulley and transmits a rotation of the drive pulley to the driven pulley. At least one of the drive pulley and the driven pulley has a protruding part protruding outwardly in a radial direction around an outer circumferential face of the drive pulley or the driven pulley. The belt is a nonmagnetic metal belt having an outer circumferential face and an inner circumferential face. The outer circumferential face has a surface roughness smaller than a surface roughness of the inner circumferential face.
